Chapter 262: Poison Chapter 262: An Unfavorable Divination Result

~4 min read 639 words

The next morning, Wu Yue blearily opened her eyes, feeling refreshed as she stretched lazily: "Comfortable!"

She rose, put on the grass-woven clothing set aside, tied her waist sash, then opened the door to go wash up.

But as soon as she lifted her head, she saw a familiar tall figure—the beastman was leaning against the wall, with the small wooden bucket she used for drawing water at his feet.

"Yuan Lang?"

The beastman's body jerked, then he slowly turned his head, his eyes still a bit dazed...

Wu Yue couldn't help laughing: "Why are you here instead of sleeping?"

After all, he was a strong beastman warrior; Yuan Lang shook off his daze in an instant and became fully awake.

He looked at the little female before him, whose hair was still a bit messy: "I just brought back another batch of salt, so I came over to see if you're awake."

"By the way, we probably won't be able to tell the chief and the shaman about the cured meat for a few days."

Wu Yue frowned at the overcast sky above: "Why?"

"The shaman of the Black Wolf Tribe has arrived."

Wu Yue's heart tightened: "Have they discovered the salt crystal cavern?"

Yuan Lang shook his head: "No, it's possibly because of the Black Wolf shaman's divination we learned about last time."

"According to the chief, that divination seems related to our Polar Forest and is not favorable, so the shamans of all four tribes have come to the Snow Tiger Tribe."

"An unfavorable divination result concerning the Polar Forest?"

Wu Yue looked at Yuan Lang: "Last time we were in the cavern, the Black Wolf shaman went to the area above it—does that mean the information he divined is related to the cavern, or perhaps just around it?"

Yuan Lang gave her an approving look: "I thought of that too, so after learning yesterday that the Black Wolf shaman would come to the tribe, I led the beastmen to block the cavern we had dug."

"Although we didn't block much, we used salt crystal stones on the outside, so they couldn't detect it."

Wu Yue let out a breath: "So you didn't sleep at all last night?"

Yuan Lang yawned: "By the time I got back, it was almost dawn, so I came straight over to tell you."

Having said that, he pointed to the bucket at his feet: "I've also fetched water for you—wash up first, I'm heading back."

Wu Yue nodded: "Okay."

The beastman's figure gradually faded away; Wu Yue gazed at the bucket of water at her feet, and a sudden inexplicable feeling welled up in her heart.

After pursing her lips, she picked up the bucket and went inside.

After washing up, she used the wild vegetables Qingcao had brought the day before to shape a few veggie balls, licked her lips, then headed to Qingcao's home.

At that moment, Qingcao was tidying the wild vegetables she had gathered the day before in the clearing outside her cave; seeing Wu Yue approach, she broke into a happy grin.

"Yue, have you eaten?"

Wu Yue nodded: "I've eaten; I came to find you."

Having said that, she squatted beside her and began helping Qingcao sort the wild vegetables on the ground.

The vegetables in her hand felt a bit old; Wu Yue frowned at Qingcao: "We're almost out of wild vegetables—what should we gather next?"

Qingcao's hand paused in sorting the vegetables, then she frowned and sighed softly: "Probably some fruit, but fruit spoils easily and eating too much can make you feel unwell."

Seeing Qingcao's dejected expression, Wu Yue pursed her lips: "Is it only fruit?"

Qingcao was about to nod, but then seemed to think of something, her eyes lighting up: "There's also white root."

"White root? What is that?"
