Chapter 216: Solomon, Completely Countered

~6 min read 1,184 words

Outside the abandoned factory, the two monsters, Mudface and Solomon, were facing off.

After infiltrating the factory, Mudface successfully landed a preemptive strike, dealing two blows to Solomon with a violent explosion and a fall from a great height; undoubtedly, he inflicted considerable damage, as Solomon's entire body and head had suffered severe injuries.

Yet, in the brief moment of standoff, Solomon's skin, dried and charred by the explosion's intense heat, began to crack and peel; the wound on his head started to slowly shrink, while dark red muscle and bluish-gray skin regrew at the injury site, repairing his body at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Seeing Solomon's self-healing speed, Mudface's mindset became quite serious; this big fellow's defense was already monstrous enough, but he hadn't expected his self-healing ability to be so terrifying; if today it weren't him dealing with Solomon, anyone else from the Riddler's faction might not be able to ensure an advantage.

Fortunately, he was not afraid of physical attacks, and Grandi only used fists and feet to strike.

Using his mud head to assess the situation, he immediately charged at Grandi; obviously, waiting any longer would only give this large zombie time to recover and catch his breath, and seeing Mudface charge, Grandi roared in the same manner, then charged and threw a punch at him.

"Solomon Grundy, born on a Monday!"

Both colossal giants ran toward each other, the ground rumbling with the thunder of their strides; Grandi instinctively clenched a massive iron fist and smashed it at Mudface, while one of Mudface's hands twisted and deformed, mixing stone fragments and bent steel bars into a giant sledgehammer, which likewise smashed toward the oncoming Solomon.

Boom!

Boom!

Both fists struck the other's body simultaneously; a violent shockwave and blast of air, accompanied by a deafening roar, blew small gravel fragments twenty meters away.

Solomon's left shoulder took a punch from Mudface; his two knees sank directly into the hard concrete ground, and half his body tilted backward. Mudface's left side was directly blasted by Solomon's fist into an exploding mass of mud, leaving only half a mud body and two legs supporting him in place.

The two big fellows couldn't help but roar simultaneously; Solomon hadn't expected that a mud fist, which should have been incredibly soft, could harden and solidify, its texture becoming as hard as steel; combined with the steel bars for reinforcement, this punch directly broke through the zombie's tough gray outer skin, smashing his shoulder until it was nearly broken.

And Mudface hadn't expected that Grandi, this big fellow, simply by clenching his fist and hammering it into his body, possessed such terrifying power that it could smash his hardened mud body to pieces.

"Futile struggle," he sneered; his clay body rapidly reformed; physical attacks like the one just now were meaningless to him; since his entire body was composed of mud and clay, Grandi's attacks could not cause any substantial damage.

His hands once again transformed into two giant flails, using broken steel bars as spikes on the hammerheads, and he smashed them fiercely at Solomon; the undead zombie's self-healing required time, and with the current fighting style, he could completely exhaust Solomon until there was no time left for self-repair.

Solomon planted his hands on the ground and leaped with all his might, pulling himself out of the earth; this time, instead of directly taking Mudface's punch and attacking, he immediately turned his head and ran into the factory.

"Is Solomon Grundy afraid?"

Mudface sneered and chased after him; his two mud arms extended infinitely like resilient plasticine, and the flail smashed fiercely into Solomon's back, blasting him flying; although there was no sound of bones breaking or tendons snapping, sharp steel bars had torn several wounds into the flesh on Solomon's back.

The bluish-gray giant flew into the burning factory and was immediately obscured by the flames; Mudface looked at the factory, hesitated for a moment, and did not choose to follow directly inside; such a combat environment was unfavorable to him; if the engagement dragged on too long, the moisture in his mud body would be baked dry.

When exchanging fist-to-fist blows, he was absolutely dominant; but in this somewhat special combat scenario, whether high or low temperature, fire or water, would inflict a certain weakening effect on him; in the most extreme cases, it would cause him to lose combat capability entirely.

"Solomon Grundy! Born on a Monday!"

Just as he hesitated, Solomon burst out of the flames; in each of his hands, he gripped an H-beam steel girder as thick as a normal person's waist; if one only looked at those two hard steel beams being waved in his hands with a whistling wind, no one would realize that each weighed several tons.

Seeing the two burning steel beams smashing toward him, Mudface did not choose to revert to a lump of soft mud, as that would cause the two flails, already condensed and carrying steel and stone, to disintegrate; instead, he simply swung the hammerhead and launched an attack against the charging Solomon.

Solomon also swung the steel girders; the two flaming steel beams met the flails; moments later, the deafening clash of iron and stone shook the ground again; shattered mud chunks, steel bars, and earth scattered in all directions. Although the steel girders were slightly bent, Mudface's weapon was smashed to pieces.

At this moment, the crowd outside the factory had gathered at the factory gates; in a few minutes, they would rush directly into the factory interior.

At this moment, two figures, one black and one green, finally appeared in the sky; Batman and Kite Man, attracted by the blazing flames of the burning factory and the occasional deafening roars, arrived above the factory.

Kite Man saw the scene inside the factory at first glance: "Solomon Grundy and Mudface are fighting; no wonder the factory was demolished like this."

"That's not right," Batman shook his head. "They haven't been fighting inside the factory for long; most of the damage was caused by explosions—Mudface is moving away from a battlefield environment unfavorable to him."

"So what do we do now? There are too many people outside the factory, and they are all crowding inside; we can't stop them all from entering."

"People controlled by the Mad Hatter will only execute orders; we can't forcibly stop them—unless we take off their hats one by one."

"We probably don't have that much time."

"There is another way."

Batman operated the micro-Batcomputer on his arm; a few seconds later, a powerful engine roar sounded in the sky; the Batwing, which had been on standby in the sky, arrived above the battlefield.

"We will take them away."

As soon as he finished speaking, the fighter jet immediately dove toward the two figures on the ground; at the same time, an ice-blue mushroom fell from his hand toward the ground.

Click-click-click—

A cold wave instantly swept over Mudface and Solomon Grundy on the ground, freezing the two big fellows into a block of ice.
