Chapter 315: First Alchemy Experience

Lin Zhangqing also felt that Sixth Grandfather's words made sense, so he stopped focusing on this issue.

He continued, "Sixth Grandfather, I have already memorized the Spirit Medicine Illustration and the first-stage pill formulas you gave me.

I have also cultivated all the various spells and incantations needed for alchemy to the minor accomplishment stage. I am here today to accept your assessment."

Lin Fanxuan was a bit surprised. This was much faster than he had expected. He couldn't quite believe that so much content could be memorized and absorbed so quickly.

So he said, "Have you really studied it carefully, kid? In a while, I'm going to set questions to test you.

If there is even one question you can't answer, it will count as you failing, and you'll have to honestly go back, memorize and digest it thoroughly before coming back!"

Lin Zhangqing said confidently, "Alright! No problem, please set the questions!"

Seeing his confident look, Lin Fanxuan started to believe him a little, so he nodded and said, "Then follow me!"

Then, he led Lin Zhangqing into the Spirit Medicine Pavilion and arrived at a pavilion in the back hall garden.

After the two sat down, Lin Fanxuan started setting questions directly.

"First, introduce the three main ingredients of the Qi Gathering Pill to me, including their medicinal parts and corresponding medicinal properties."

Lin Zhangqing nodded and answered directly, "The three main ingredients of the Qi Gathering Pill are Qi Gathering Grass, Iron Wire Grass, and Small Salvia.

The whole plant of the Qi Gathering Grass can be used as medicine, and its medicinal properties are..."

Just like that, the two sat in the pavilion and started a Q&A session. The whole process lasted for over an hour, nearly two hours.

Lin Zhangqing answered all the questions Sixth Grandfather asked correctly, which made Lin Fanxuan very satisfied and gratified. Of course, this also counted as him passing his assessment.

He said with a smile, "Not bad! You've basically memorized everything, and it looks quite solid. I'm very satisfied. You've passed the assessment!"

Lin Zhangqing finally heard the result he had been looking forward to and was extremely happy in his heart. He hurriedly asked, "That's great! Then when can I start observing you practicing alchemy, Sixth Grandfather?"

"That depends on you. Novice apprentices basically choose one type of pill to practice alchemy first, ignoring everything else, and focus on practicing the refining of that one type of pill.

Only when you have a success rate of over thirty percent for this type of pill can it be considered a fundamental guarantee, and it can be considered that you really know how to refine this type of pill.

When you learn other pill formulas of the same stage later, it will be much easier. So you need to decide now, which type of pill do you want to learn to refine first?"

Lin Zhangqing didn't need to think about this question at all and answered directly, "Sixth Grandfather, I have already thought about it. I will learn to refine the Qi Gathering Pill first.

It just so happens that what I grow in my spirit fields are the main ingredients of the Qi Gathering Pill, so it's just self-produced and self-sold!"

Hearing Lin Zhangqing's answer, Lin Fanxuan laughed and nodded, "Self-produced and self-sold is quite good! Spirit Planters have a very big advantage when learning alchemy! And the type of pill chosen is also very good. Including me, most people choose this type of pill as the first type of pill to learn as an introduction.

It just so happens that I am going to refine ten furnaces of Qi Gathering Pills for the family today. You should follow me and observe and learn carefully!"

Lin Zhangqing was overjoyed. He didn't expect to be able to start observing and learning immediately. He hurriedly agreed, then followed Sixth Grandfather as he stood up and walked towards the alchemy room.

On the way, he saw three or four alchemy rooms, but the restrictions on the doors were all activated. The two arrived at the one at the very end.

After entering, Sixth Grandfather also activated the restriction on the door and introduced, "It is best to practice alchemy in an environment with abundant spiritual energy and quietness.

After all, once disturbed, it is very easy to lead to failure in alchemy."

Lin Zhangqing nodded; he still understood this principle.

Then Sixth Grandfather took out an alchemy furnace and a dozen jade boxes, placing them by his side, within reach. Then he opened one of the larger jade boxes, took out a red stone, summoned Lin Zhangqing to his side, and pointed at the black stone in his hand.

He introduced, "This is a first-stage Crimson Ink Stone, of course, some people call it Fire Stone directly.

The characteristic of this thing is that it is relatively easy to burn, the flame temperature released is relatively high, and it is relatively continuous and stable. Using the Fire Control Technique on it makes it quite convenient to control the temperature.

Our Nine Peaks Mountain has not built a special Earth Fire channel, so when we practice alchemy, we all use this kind of Crimson Ink Stone. There are first-stage ones and second-stage ones.

Outside, a portion of first-stage Crimson Ink Stone costs ten spirit stones and can burn for about ten hours, while a portion of second-stage Crimson Ink Stone costs fifty spirit stones and can burn for about twenty hours.

The Affairs Hall sells this stuff, both first and second stage. You can go buy it yourself when you want to practice alchemy later."

Lin Zhangqing nodded, took the Crimson Ink Stone from Sixth Grandfather's hand, and studied it.

He found that this thing didn't feel as heavy as he had imagined in his hand, not too heavy, and it felt a bit like the coal he had seen before, but this thing was much more expensive than coal!

Sixth Grandfather continued, "You must know about the alchemy furnace, so I won't introduce it! A first-stage alchemy furnace is nothing. If you can advance to a second-stage alchemist in the future, try to get one, a second-stage alchemy furnace with Red Smelted Crystal Copper as the main material.

This thing has the effect of increasing the success rate of alchemy. The only bad thing is that it is expensive as hell.

A second-stage lower-grade one costs two or three thousand low-grade spirit stones, which is equivalent to half a Foundation Establishment Pill, and this thing is not easy to encounter."

Lin Zhangqing smiled in his heart after hearing this. He should have this thing, and it seems he has quite a few!

The problem is he doesn't know if Junior Sister Hu has finished refining the things in the month or so he has been back!

If it's refined, Sixth Grandfather is personally teaching him alchemy, so he wants to find an opportunity to give him an alchemy furnace as a thank you.

Then Sixth Grandfather cast an incantation on the alchemy furnace, and the furnace suddenly became several times larger. Then he used the Fire Control Technique to ignite a portion of Crimson Ink Stone and placed it under the alchemy furnace.

He continued to introduce, "The first step in our alchemy is to preheat the furnace.

The specific temperature to preheat to is determined by different pills; this is not immutable.

In a while, when I start putting in the first main ingredient, you can probe your spiritual sense in to feel the approximate temperature inside, and then remember it."

After speaking, he cast another Fire Control Technique on the burning Crimson Ink Stone, and the flame suddenly became larger.

Before long, Lin Zhangqing felt that the temperature of the furnace was already very high, estimated to be seventy or eighty degrees.

At this time, Sixth Grandfather had another action and said, "The second step is to start putting in the medicine. Pay attention to observing the order of putting in the medicine and the changes in the spirit medicine inside."

After speaking, a Spirit Extraction Technique opened a medicine delivery port on the alchemy furnace, and he began to deliver the first main ingredient, Iron Wire Grass.

Lin Zhangqing hurriedly probed his spiritual sense in to feel the temperature inside, tried hard to remember it, and observed the changes in the Iron Wire Grass by the way.

A while later, it was the second main ingredient, followed by the third...

Just like that, Lin Zhangqing observed the ten furnaces of Qi Gathering Pills that Sixth Grandfather refined continuously.

For the refining speed of the first few furnaces, Sixth Grandfather deliberately slowed down.

Towards the end, the speed became faster and faster, so fast that one furnace could be refined in about a quarter of an hour.
