Chapter 31: Please Answer Me Seriously

~10 min read 1,918 words

Zihan shook their head after hearing Liuli's words, and Bai Xu also shook their head.

"You two are the ones Gu Die sent, right?" Liuli asked. "Yu Ke, only you are on my side."

"Liuli, it's actually possible that Young Master Gu truly has you in his heart—look, the Gu Family's private hospital lets you come and go freely and even gives your grandmother the best treatment; if he didn't have you in his heart, could he do all this for you so foolishly?"

Yu Ke said earnestly.

"Yu Ke, how can you say that too?" Liuli simply didn't believe he had her in his heart; no matter what others said, she wouldn't believe it.

He treated her grandmother, but it's just their agreement; it proves nothing.

"Then can you explain why you think he doesn't have you in his heart, yet you still married him?"

Yu Ke's question hit the nail on the head.

Zihan and Bai Xu both perked up their ears to listen.

"I just had a momentary brain lapse—I'm not telling you anything, I'm going to sleep, goodbye!"

Liuli didn't even want to talk with them about Gu Die anymore; the more they talked, the more she felt she was letting Gu Die down.

"I'm going to sleep too."

Zihan yawned and said, she also really didn't sleep well last night.

Bai Xu simply lay down on the table and fell asleep; Yu Ke watched and shook their head, this person really doesn't mind the heat.

Bai Xu's face happened to be turned toward her, and he happened to be asleep, so she could get a close-up look at his handsome face.

"What are you looking at?"

Bai Xu opened his eyes, his brown eyes shining.

"How do you know I'm looking at you?"

Yu Ke retorted, and Bai Xu gave a light smile without answering.

"Aren't you going to sleep?"

Bai Xu asked her.

"I'm going to sleep right now."

Being stared at by Bai Xu really made her a bit embarrassed.

Even she, with such rich romantic experience, would feel embarrassed being looked at—it's also kind of strange.

Upon entering the room, she saw Liuli and Zihan sleeping in a haphazard heap, while Uncle was still sleeping alone in bed, snoring.

Liuli slept for a while, then woke up; hearing a commotion outside, she got up and went to look.

Those people Gu Die had summoned came again, each starting to busy themselves—some wiping tables, some preparing barbecue.

Unexpectedly, the people Gu Die had summoned were quite reliable, even knowing what time to come help.

"Sister-in-law, hello."

Seeing Liuli come out, Bai Xu deliberately shouted at her to see how these people would react.

"Young Mistress, hello!"

As expected, they all shouted in unison, "Young Mistress, hello!" Liuli was dazed—if Uncle heard that, it would be terrible.

Liuli glared fiercely at the still-smiling Bai Xu.

Zihan and Yu Ke were awakened by the shouting of "Young Mistress" outside, but Uncle remained sound asleep.

"What's wrong?"

Yu Ke walked over to Liuli and asked.

"This Bai Xu really deserves a beating."

Liuli replied.

"Who called 'Young Mistress' and interrupted my beautiful dream?"

Zihan rubbed their eyes and asked.

"What kind of daydream are you having?"

Yu Ke asked.

"You're the one having a daydream!"

"It's not you who said it—aren't daytime dreams just daydreams?"

"Seems like it is."

Zihan let out a big yawn.

"That's Cheng Li." Liuli, with sharp eyes, saw the car by the roadside; as soon as she spotted Cheng Li, he drove off.

Cheng Li originally didn't want to come; he didn't want to see Zihan, but he was worried Liuli and the others couldn't handle the work, so he came anyway. Seeing the people who had come to help in the morning arrive again, he left.

"Where?"

Zihan asked, looking around trying to spot Cheng Li's figure.

"Don't look, he's already left."

Liuli replied.

"Liuli, do you really think he dislikes me?"

"I can't say for sure; you have to feel it yourself."

"Give me some advice—you know him so well."

"Zihan, do you really like him? Answer me seriously."

Zihan and Yu Ke had also never before seen Liuli speak in this tone.

"Pretty much."

Zihan answered.

"If you truly like him, you can pursue him; if not, please stop bothering him."

How could Liuli possibly let Cheng Li be pursued by someone who doesn't like him? She doesn't want Cheng Li to get hurt.

Zihan's attitude looks more and more like she's just playing around.

She regrets letting Zihan talk her into going to Cheng Li's house.

"Liuli, don't worry, I, Luo Zihan, am not a fickle person; since I really like him, I will treat him seriously."

Then that's good.

All right, let's just sit down and rest properly!

Yu Ke noticed the atmosphere between the two was off, so she spoke up to mediate, pulling both of them to sit down.

"Liuli, the people Young Master Gu brought are so reliable; after they left at noon I thought they wouldn't come!" Yu Ke said, "Uncle really likes these young guys; alright, I'll go call Uncle."

"Uncle, wake up!" Yu Ke soon ran to the room to call Uncle.

It took a while of shouting and shaking before Uncle finally woke up.

"What's wrong?" Uncle asked.

"Those people are here again; won't you go take a look?"

"Have they come? Of course I'll go see—they're really likable."

"How come we're not likable?"

Yu Ke asked.

"You're all likable!"

Uncle answered with a smile.

"Hello, Uncle!"

These people's mouths are still sweet; upon seeing Uncle they shout, as if their lips were smeared with honey.

"You've worked hard; you definitely have to flow down to eat tonight!"

Uncle had planned to personally cook for them at noon, but they left; no matter what, he wants to keep them for dinner tonight.

It wasn't even mealtime yet when people showed up, probably because they saw this small place with so many handsome guys serving and all wanted to come take a look.

Soon all the seats were filled, and Liuli and the others gave up the seats they had just been sitting in.

Liuli wanted to help, but there was no chance for her to intervene, so she could only watch from the side.

Just as she was thinking that Gu Die had done the right thing, Gu Die called.

"Are you at the barbecue place?"

After the call connected, Gu Die's voice came from the other end.

"Yes."

"Someone's already helping, so come back early tonight."

He instructed her, and since she came back so late and had worked hard helping during the day, he could only show his care in his own way.

"Okay."

She replied.

"Who called?"

Zihan asked.

"Your cousin."

"Why did he call?"

"He told me to go back early."

"Did he ask about me?"

Zihan fired one question after another, and Liuli didn't even know what she was really asking.

"No."

"Really no?"

Zihan wore an expression of disbelief; after all, she was his cousin, and she hadn't gone back last night, yet he hadn't even called to check on her.

"Am I lying to you?"

"Fine, this guy, really! If I'd known, I wouldn't have come back to help him—I'm furious!!

Zihan stomped her feet in anger.

Liuli didn't eat here that night either, so she went back with Zihan.

Uncle insisted on keeping the people Yu Ke, Bai Xu, and Gu Die had brought to help for dinner; even when customers came later, he refused to serve them, closed the door, and prepared a feast for them.

"Uncle, your cooking is amazing—much better than Liuli's!"

Yu Ke said while eating, but she wouldn't dare say that when Liuli was around.

Liuli's barbecue really wasn't tasty at first, but later it became all right.

"If it's tasty, eat more! Make sure the kids eat well and drink well!" Uncle said.

"Good!"

A chorus of replies.

"You'd better watch out—I'll tell my sister-in-law tomorrow."

Bai Xu whispered to Yu Ke.

"You dare?"

"How wouldn't I dare?"

"Bai Xu…"

Yu Ke stopped eating the barbecue, truly afraid that Bai Xu would tell on her in front of Liuli.

"Just joking, eat up!"

Bai Xu smiled at her appearance.

Hearing Bai Xu say that, Yu Ke finally ate the barbecue with relief, praising it as delicious while she ate.

Uncle hearing that couldn't help but smile.

These days Uncle's smile has been on his face every day; he hasn't laughed this much or been this happy in a long time.

"Cousin! I'm back!"

Zi Han rushed in shouting as soon as she entered.

"Back already?"

But Gu Die bypassed her and went straight to ask Liuli.

"Really!" Zi Han thought dissatisfied.

Liuli ignored him, pulled Zi Han to sit at the dining table.

"Why aren't you paying attention to him?"

Zi Han questioned.

"He isn't paying attention to you either, is he?"

"You don't need to ignore him for my sake; I'm fine."

"Who said it's for your sake?"

Zi Han had just been a bit moved, but Liuli's question made her take back her feelings.

"Let's eat quickly, I'm hungry."

As soon as Gu Die sat down, she started eating.

She hadn't eaten from the office to the barbecue place, and she had barely managed to hold out until now.

"You will have to go to work at the company from now on."

Gu Die said coldly.

"Oh."

She gave a casual reply; she had actually thought the same, otherwise she wouldn't have known that Feng Wei secretly visited him every day.

"Can I go?"

Zi Han asked with a smile.

"What are you going to do there?"

"To work!"

"Don't you remember what your mission is?"

Gu Die lifted her head to look at Zi Han, her gaze so cold that Zi Han didn't dare look longer.

"You can't rush this; besides, I could still help you keep an eye on your sister-in-law, right?"

Zi Han whispered to Gu Die, afraid Liuli would hear.

"Anyway, if you can't finish it, just don't go abroad."

"Funny, I don't even want to go abroad now! I could just be a third wheel for you and Liuli!"

Gu Die tapped Zi Han's head with her chopsticks upon hearing that; she thought the comment was totally asking for a smack.

"I'm full, I'm going upstairs first."

Liuli saw the two of them chattering and didn't know what they were saying, nor did she bother to ask.

"What do you mean, why doesn't Liuli like Cheng Li? Cheng Li is such a good, thoughtful person, handsome, any girl would like him; Liuli has been around him for so long and hasn't made a move—if it were me, I would have..."

When Zi Han saw Liuli leave, she finally dared to speak loudly, but before she finished, Gu Die hit her on the head again.

She still wanted to be angry, but seeing Gu Die's gaze even colder than before, she almost wanted to slap herself; daring to say such things in front of her was practically suicidal.

He not telling her to leave was already not bad.

"I was just joking; Liuli only has you in her heart, that's why she hasn't had time to think about Cheng Li."

Zi Han said with an apologetic smile, then hurried upstairs after speaking.

Gu Die was still thinking about her sentence "Liuli only has you in her heart."
