Chapter 1004 - 1012: Learn More When There Are More People

~4 min read 674 words

"Ah, well, well, our little Jane is really in your care, that girl, she can be quite a handful, thank you for your hard work." Since Jane Sampson would take the initiative to introduce her, it shows that she has a good relationship with Jane Sampson, so Old Master Black also had a very good attitude towards Coco Edwards.

"You are too polite, Old Sir. To tell the truth, little Jane is actually one of the easiest artists to work with. Everyone in the company is envious of me for working with her. It’s really hot over here; you shouldn’t stand and talk. Let’s go sit over there where there’s no sun." Coco Edwards pointed out Jane’s location to Old Sir and spoke to him.

Old Master Black nodded and agreed. He had made a trip in the heat of midday, so he was always going to have a chat with Jane Sampson before heading back. Knowing to give them space, Coco Edwards didn’t join in the chatter unnecessarily but directly took someone next to her away to talk at a distance.

Great General was lying contently between Jane Sampson and Old Master Black, wagging its tail as it ate wild fruits Jane gave it, occasionally giving a bark to indicate it had finished and wanted more.

"When I saw that news at home yesterday, I was truly startled," Old Master Black said, still feeling the residual fear from yesterday’s incident, but what he wanted to talk about now was something else.

"Now you understand why your grandfather was so strict with you when you were young, right? Life isn’t always smooth sailing for people, and sometimes, you’re bound to encounter some type of accident. If you never have to use what you learned as a child in your lifetime, that means you’re lucky. But if it one day comes in handy and saves your life, then it’s your good fortune. So, it’s beneficial to learn more."

Right now, Old Master Black was truly grateful that he had been strict with the young ones around him.

Not just the Black Family and those who would be part of the Black Family in the future, but even several children in the great courtyard who caught Old Master Black’s eye, like Thomas Lancaster, Nina Rice, Yvette Quick, all were pushed by Old Master Black to learn some martial arts.

Speaking of which, Jane Sampson also learned due to a coincidental opportunity.

As a small girl, she was mischievous and, upon seeing a line of children in the Black Family courtyard, insisted on standing behind them, earnestly following along with the training.

Old Master Black already favored Jane Sampson, and seeing the little miss with her tender fists practicing earnestly, one couldn’t tell how pleased he was, so he pulled Jane into the group as well.

Later, all these kids grew up, each with their own things to do, playing less and less with their seniors.

Once school started, every weekend, some friend would invite them out to play, and they began to find excuses to skip the training sessions at Old Master Black’s.

What left the strongest impression on Elder Black was when Jane Sampson, around nine or ten years old, burnt with the desire to play on the weekend, but Elder Black didn’t grant her leave.

The little girl pouted, with tears dropping one by one, as she continued to practice her punches on the punching bag without even glancing at it once, her eyes fixed outside the window, her heart flying away.

Old Master Black simply sat there watching her without saying she could go out to play even after she had trained all afternoon without much force.

That evening, Jane Sampson sat at the dining table clutching her bowl, still sobbing intermittently. Thinking Old Master Black hadn’t heard her, she pitifully complained to Brooke Black that Grandpa Black was mean, saying that he wasn’t satisfied after she trained all afternoon and he even said she shouldn’t come to their house to play anymore.
