Chapter 1016 - 1024: Investigate Whom

This afternoon, Jane Sampson’s attention was either on her filming or being gawked at by onlookers.

After she posted on Twitter, not only did the netizens on the internet pay attention, but many members of the film crew saw it too, even James Chip teased her, wondering what on earth was packed into her small head to come up with such a way to confess.

Seeing Jane’s tail about to wag up to heaven, Coco Edwards, as the only one who was privy to the situation, was struggling to hold it in.

Coco had been waiting for Jane to finish filming before she finally vented.

"Your guy, what’s going on in his brain? How did he even think of such a romantic way to do it?" Coco murmured to Jane while driving.

As the saying goes, speak of the devil and he shall appear.

No sooner had Coco spoken than Jane’s mobile phone suddenly rang.

Jane looked down and saw it was James Black calling.

"It’s him, I’ll take the call first, then we can chat later." As soon as she finished speaking, Jane pressed the answer button.

Once the phone connected, Jane hadn’t even started to speak when James on the other end greeted her.

After saying hello, he immediately asked, "Haven’t you arrived at the hotel yet?"

"Um, on the way back to the hotel," Jane replied, her voice unable to hide her laughter, and she added with a clear laugh, "Are you missing me?"

The trailing tone of her "ya" was soft and utterly coquettish. Even James, with his mobile phone in hand at the guard team, couldn’t help but click his tongue in admiration, falling silent for two seconds as he savored the tone of her words just now.

Then he responded.

"Yes."

Jane was caught off guard by James’s affirmative answer, completely unable to react.

It seemed a world away from the response she had imagined in her memory—a much more resounding reply.

Since when had he started to be so unequivocally affirmative in answering her questions like this?

"Did you see my comment under your Twitter post?" Knowing Jane wouldn’t respond to his previous "yes," James quickly got to the point.

He posed his question.

Though it sounded like an interrogative sentence, in fact, it was an affirmative one.

James had seen Jane replying to a lot of her fans in the comments, but he had never gotten a reply from her.

Not even on WhatsApp.

And that was the reason for his call.

"You didn’t see it? What did you reply?" Jane feigned ignorance.

James let out a chuckle, "Jane Sampson, playing dumb is something you’re quite adept at."

Jane held her mobile phone, her lips secretly curving up, swiftly shifting the topic before saying, "Oh right, James, could you help me investigate someone?"

Although James really wanted to press Jane for her reply, upon hearing her request, his focus quickly shifted.

Jane was usually very gentle by nature; she never took the initiative to attack anyone, so when James suddenly heard her asking for help in investigating a person, his first thought was that she might have encountered some tricky business.

"Who do you want to investigate?" James asked steadily.

"Mona Calm," Jane said, "the Mona Calm from the same drama crew as I am now."

Coco sitting in the driver’s seat was utterly astonished when she heard Jane mention that name.

Jane’s tone was heavy, and it sounded serious, which was why Coco was so surprised that Jane had asked her James to investigate Mona.
