Chapter 1015 - 1023: The Story of The Farmer and the Snake
"Crying like this might have bothered the director, you know?" Jane Sampson poked Coco Edwards’ head. "So, it’s best if your head just thinks about food."
"Whose words are those? You don’t need to pass them onto me so politely; I don’t want them." Coco Edwards refused.
"You don’t have a choice." Jane said as she stood up, "I’m going to Hibiscus Wood."
"Because of Mona Calm?" Coco Edwards raised her eyebrows. "I knew you’d go soft."
"If you hadn’t gone soft just now, would you have talked that much to her?" Jane countered.
"Between the two of us, who spoke first?" Coco huffed.
Jane lowered her head and touched her nose tip.
Hmm, it seemed like her.
"Think of it as doing one last favor for a friend from the past." Jane declared.
Having finished speaking, Jane turned and left her spot, heading towards Hibiscus Wood who was a bit further away.
Hibiscus Wood’s assistant, seeing Jane coming, called out to Hibiscus who was playing with her mobile phone.
Hibiscus, who was looking down at her mobile phone, then raised her head to look at Jane and gestured for her to sit before lowering her head again to put away her mobile phone.
"Hibiscus..." Jane began to speak but then faltered somewhat, uncertain how to continue because Hibiscus was not Mair Williams. Hence, Jane cautiously tried with, "Can I ask you a question?"
"You’re here for Mona Calm, right?" Hibiscus asked without even lifting her eyelids.
"Yes, you guessed?" Jane nodded without denying. "I just wanted to ask on her behalf if she did something to offend you? Or, did she do something to provoke you?"
"Did you come to ask on her own behalf or did she beg you to come and ask?" Hibiscus finally looked up at Jane again.
"I came on my own; she doesn’t know." Jane responded.
Hibiscus was silent for a few seconds, staring intently at Jane before scoffing, "Disliking her, of course, has its reasons. Targeting her naturally comes from that dislike too."
Hibiscus outright admitted she was deliberately targeting Mona Calm.
"As for the reasons, I won’t tell you," Hibiscus said, pausing briefly, then added, "Sometimes, I really don’t understand you, yet at other times, I really envy you. In this circle, you are definitely the kindest person I’ve met, but in this circle, kind people usually don’t end well."
With that, Hibiscus reached for her mobile phone again, tapped on the screen a few times, then turned the mobile phone screen towards Jane, asking, "This Bamboo Leaf GreenTea, appearance-wise, it’s pretty stunning, right? But, it’s still deadly poisonous. You know, when I was filming ’I’m Not a Celebrity,’ I must have told you how much I hate snakes."
After confirming Jane saw it, Hibiscus took the mobile phone back.
Seeing that Jane remained silent and somewhat perplexed, Hibiscus waved her hand. "You go back and rest, sleep for a while. We have to start working again soon."
"Alright." Seeing Hibiscus wasn’t inclined to say more, Jane finally stood up and turned around.
Just as she was about to leave, she suddenly heard Hibiscus calling her from behind, abruptly asking her a question.
"Jane Sampson, have you heard the story of ’The Farmer and the Snake’?"
Jane turned her head to look at Hibiscus, who had now closed her eyes. Jane didn’t ask anything more and slowly walked back to her own seat.
