Chapter 1056 - 1064: You Said You

~4 min read 685 words

The next day, Jane Sampson woke up when her body naturally felt ready, and as she opened her eyes, the hands of the alarm clock at the head of the bed already pointed to ten.

Since she woke up at one sleep, it was already 10:30.

What surprised Jane even more was that at 10:30, she was still waking up in James Black’s arms. Didn’t this guy go for his morning run today?

Jane rolled over, and as soon as she moved, James Black immediately tightened his arm, imprisoning her in his embrace.

Jane yelped softly. So, was James just resting with his eyes closed, actually awake all along?

Just awake and not getting up?

Jane pushed him and said, "We need to get up."

James Black grunted in response but didn’t move, pressing her head down into his chest instead.

He seemed to particularly enjoy holding her like this, engulfing her entirely.

Jane let James hold her like that for several minutes before he finally relented and loosened his grip. He pressed down on her, sealing her lips with his, and continued to kiss her for a long time.

After the kiss ended and sensing something different about James, and while he lay next to her trying to calm his emotions, Jane threw off the quilt, straightened her pajamas, and got out of bed, not forgetting to tease him.

"You and your self-control, how could you not rein it in? Wasn’t last night’s romp enough that you want to hold me and kiss me first thing in the morning? You really should..." Jane said with a laugh before running off like she was escaping, directly into the bathroom to wash up.

James Black lay in bed for a good seven or eight minutes before he too got down and headed to the bathroom. By the time he arrived, Jane was applying emulsion to her face, the faint fragrance prompting James to glance at the bottle in her hand.

Ah, camellia.

Jane caught a glimpse of James in the mirror and took a more extended look before turning her head to look at him again.

He was only wearing his sleeping pants, with his upper body bare, and at that moment, his back and shoulders bore several faint red scratch marks.

Jane guiltily looked at her own hands.

People who play the piano don’t usually have the habit of keeping long nails. Jane had always kept her nails exceptionally short since childhood.

So, how could she have scratched marks into his skin?

James noticed Jane’s gaze, turned around, and then through the mirror saw his own back and smiled with a lifted corner of his mouth, "You must be part cat."

Jane bristled immediately, flinging her pale, delicate hands at James in anger, "Look at these hands, just look! How could they possibly leave such marks? It must be you sneaking off to meet some ’demons’ last night while I was asleep!"

Having said that, Jane marched out of the bathroom with the pride of a cockerel, yet feeling incredibly guilty inside.

James continued to stand in front of the mirror, calmly squeezing some toothpaste onto his toothbrush and brushing his teeth slowly, disdainfully dismissing Jane’s accusation of him meeting ’little demons’ at night.

If he had even a bit more energy last night, he would have wished to spend every bit of it on Jane.

When James finished up in the bathroom, Jane was already cuddling with her mobile phone on the bed, engrossed in it. James walked over and looked down at her, unsurprised to see, beneath the concealment of her pajamas, the faint hints of the marks he had left the night before.

He liked to see his exclusive marks on her body.

"Let’s go have breakfast," James said softly, patting Jane’s swaying lower legs, "There’s still some cake left from last night. I’ll go make you some milk powder to tide us over for a meal. After breakfast, wait here for me, I need to step out for a bit, about more than an hour or so before I’ll be back."
