Chapter 1062 - 1070: Just Holding You
"I’ll just hold you," James Black tightened his embrace with both hands, hugging her fiercely.
If anyone else had spoken to him like that, they’d have been cleaned up by him long ago.
But Jane Sampson was different, his own wife, whom he had indulged to the point of braveness. It was his own doing, and he had to put up with it.
However, as he looked at Jane’s ferocious demeanor, which was actually less fierce than the guard team’s "Great General" in full uniform, James couldn’t help but crack a smile, despite the situation calling for a serious face.
"Don’t laugh!" Jane muttered in her heart. She was still sincerely upset, and yet this guy had the audacity to laugh.
The problem was, when he laughed, he was particularly handsome, unfairly so. She found it hard to get angry and almost laughed along with him.
"Mmm, won’t laugh," he replied nonchalantly while still smiling at the corner of his mouth as he lifted her from the sofa.
Back in the bedroom, James stuffed her into the quilt, "Have a good nap and when you wake up, I’ll take you to the shooting range."
After saying this, he cuddled her close and closed his eyes first.
Jane wiggled in his arms, not feeling sleepy at all.
Lately, she had been waking up early and returning late from the film crew, with no time for a lunch break, so her habit of taking naps had vanished.
At this time, she was quite alert.
So when James held her like this, it made her uncomfortable everywhere. She tugged at his arm, and then, in a moment, tried to turn over, pushing against his chest.
Just like a restless monkey.
That was what James thought at the moment.
"If you don’t want to sleep, we can do something else," said James, opening his eyes and reaching toward the bedhead cabinet.
!!!
"Sleep! Sleep! Sleep! I’ll sleep!" Jane was so frightened by his action that she quickly grabbed his hand, instantly became well-behaved, closed her eyes quickly, and pressed her face into his chest.
She’d rather try to summon some drowsiness than to do something else with him.
James, retracting his arm, rested it on her waist, "You’re asking for it."
The person who was ’asking for it’ had the urge to retort but thought better of it.
For fear that talking back would result in ’doing something else.’
Her lower back was still sore now.
At first, she couldn’t fall asleep, but later she slept so deeply.
When she was groggily lifted out of the quilt by James, it was already two-fifteen.
"Get up, tidy yourself, and come out. Grandfather is in the living room," James reminded her.
"Grandfather is here?" Jane rubbed her eyes, and after she realized what was happening, she immediately jumped out of bed, quickly freshened up, changed her clothes, and dashed out of the bedroom.
"Grandfather!" Her voice rang out before she even reached the doorway, loud enough that even the neighbors might hear.
Old Master Black liked Jane’s energetic spirit. He was sitting on the sofa, waving to Jane with a smile that turned his eyes into slender lines.
"Grandfather, how come you suddenly visited the guard team?" Jane ran over and sat down next to Old Master Black, all smiles.
"Isn’t it James’s birthday today? I remembered and came over to see, and I didn’t expect you to be here too." Old Master Black had only found out that Jane had come to the guard team last night to celebrate James’s birthday after he arrived. He also learned from Peter Gingery that Jane had specially made a birthday cake for James.
Old Master Black actually had a soft spot for this granddaughter-in-law. When she was little, she didn’t celebrate her birthdays at her biological father’s home. After Old Master Black had taken her in, she was already old enough to remember, and being naturally cool and not fond of excitement, coupled with Old Master Black’s own busy schedule, sometimes it took him several days to remember. And, naturally, most of her birthdays went uncelebrated.
