Chapter 1185 - 1193: Inviolable
No one who sits in the position of a minister is a fool.
What Jane Sampson had said was indeed very tactful, her lengthy speech not a single word of which was straightforward, but Father Carter understood.
He grasped that Jane Sampson was indirectly asking Jillian Carter not to pester her husband.
Father Carter’s face grew dark at once.
It was one thing to deceive family.
As the daughter of a defender, knowing full well that many things should not be done in relations to the defender’s duties, yet she still went ahead and did them, that was truly the most disappointing thing to Father Carter.
"I’m sorry, it’s my fault for not disciplining my daughter properly," Father Carter expressed deep self-reproach, and then stood up to bow slightly to Jane Sampson, "I’m sorry, and also, thank you for your husband saving my daughter."
Jane Sampson hadn’t expected Father Carter to suddenly take the matter so seriously, so she quickly stood up to move out of the way and hurriedly reached out to support Father Carter.
Although Father Carter did not know what exactly had happened that led to Jane Sampson’s husband rescuing Jillian Carter, since the incident did occur, as a father, he should give thanks.
"I was only trying to find him, I didn’t plan to do anything," Jillian Carter defended herself.
Using her newspaper agency connections, she had found out the hotel in King Town where Jane Sampson’s film crew was staying. She then asked a friend to check Jane Sampson’s room number in the hotel, and while Jane Sampson’s room number eluded her, she accidentally found James Black’s hotel registration.
Jillian Carter had indeed rushed over early in the morning to look for James Black.
But she hadn’t expected not to find James Black and instead ran into her own father.
Father Carter was already reluctant to continue lecturing his daughter Jillian in front of Jane Sampson; the more he lectured, the more it would show how his daughter lacked understanding.
"I apologize for the disturbance this morning, and thank you for helping out in the great hall. I’ll take Jillian and leave now. When there’s an opportunity, your aunt and I would like to invite you and your husband for a meal, to express our gratitude to you both," said Father Carter.
"Uncle Carter is too polite. Anyway, Mr. Carter and I are friends, and he has helped me a lot. You are Mr. Carter’s family, so I hope you are all doing well," Jane Sampson nodded and then stood up to send both of them out of the room.
Because Father Carter, a senior, was present, Jane Sampson accompanied them all the way to the elevator entrance, and only after they had entered the elevator did she return to her room.
It wasn’t that she blamed herself for saying those words that upset Father Carter in front of him, but James Black was the inviolable one in her life!
No one was allowed to violate that!
So she had to take advantage of the fact that Jillian Carter had only just started to harbor such thoughts and have Father Carter nip this bud in the very beginning.
Because of this delay, Jane Sampson lost her appetite to go downstairs for breakfast, and instead made a phone call to order a meal from the hotel’s catering department and waited in the room while playing on her mobile phone.
In the game, ever since the agreement to meet up during Chinese New Year last time, everyone in the game had become even more active.
When Jane Sampson logged on, the poor youth was bragging to everyone that he had recently stopped staying up late, started going to bed and getting up early, even steeping a cup of goji berry tea in the early morning aiming to have a wholesome complexion by Chinese New Year to impress everyone with his looks.
Peter Gingery retorted toward the poor youth.
With you feasting on ’dirt’ for three meals a day, even a ton of goji berries won’t make you as handsome as me. — Abandoned little prince.
It’s said that fairness covers a hundred flaws. Little prince, have you been applying your whitening facial mask recently? How’s your dark skin doing? — Princess Egg-Yolk.
