Chapter 1228 - 1236: Go Investigate
"By the way, how’s the investigation into the hotel incident going?" Peter Gingery said, "Brother told me I should handle the follow-up, but I was on a train yesterday, and the signal was intermittent, so I don’t know the specifics."
Jane Sampson then put down her mobile phone and recounted in detail what she had found out to Peter Gingery.
After listening, Peter Gingery’s eyebrows knit slightly, "Back when I was in the guard team, I felt Ella Ruby was not straightforward, and now she’s proved to be so scheming? She sent Brother text messages—do you think it was because she saw he was the Chief and wanted to latch onto him? But you’re right to consider how she could have gotten Brother’s mobile number?"
"Auntie’s people have been digging deeper, but the messages from Crystal Element Hotel last night showed that Ella Ruby checked out of the hotel and left the day after the incident. They checked her records, and she went back to Capital Province." So Brooke Black’s team took a flight back to Capital Province late last night.
"From what we can tell now, there’s no solid evidence, and calling the police would be pointless, so I’m guessing we’ll have to take some extraordinary measures," Peter Gingery said, "I’ll make a call and ask about it later."
After saying this, Peter Gingery went to look for his phone and then took it back to his own room to make the call.
Jane Sampson had not been on Twitter much recently. After posting two tweets introducing her family members two days in a row, she didn’t check it anymore. However, the Twitter accounts of Bright Sampson and Old Master Black were buzzing with activity, especially Old Master Black’s, who had shared a photo of Jane Sampson crying cutely as a child. This had netizens constantly leaving comments underneath, begging Old Sir to share more photos of Jane for everyone’s delight.
Old Master Black had been quite busy these past two days, interacting with Jane’s fans on his phone, while also rummaging through his things to find Jane’s childhood photos.
The day after Peter Gingery’s arrival, Jane Sampson returned to the film crew, with him following her every step. When Jane was filming, a pair of eyes watched over her and monitored the surroundings as keenly as a blackhawk.
And now in Capital Province.
It was past 8 o’clock in Capital Province, and the broken street lamps left dark lanes devoid of any light.
The lane was deep and quiet, with only the faint sounds of distant car horns occasionally audible. Some people, to save time, hurried through this lane, and others even ran to leave it.
Ella Ruby, wearing high heels and carrying a purse, also had a document folder in her hand. Inside the folder were the information and interview draft for the person she was about to interview.
Her luck wasn’t great today; after leaving the company, she found her car had a flat tire. During the rush hour, she managed to grab a ride, but the driver shook his head repeatedly when he heard her destination, saying the traffic could last until more than nine o’clock in the evening.
Having no choice, Ella Ruby decided to head elsewhere first and then take a shortcut through this lane to the company she was visiting.
Ella Ruby grumbled to herself, swinging the stuff in her hand, "These General Managers are all so busy, and an interview that takes forty minutes has to be postponed until now. No matter how busy the work during the day, can it not spare those forty minutes? Wouldn’t it be okay to skip socializing and do the interview early tonight?"
It was more of a string of complaints than anything else.
And she was utterly unaware that two shadows had been following her the whole way and had listened to her complaints all along.
