Chapter 1229 - 1237: Drag Over
As she looked down at her watch to see if she would be late, a sack suddenly descended over her head, and then she felt a blunt hit to the back of her head, knocking her out without a sound.
"Do you think these celebrities are all very fake? Usually, when you see her interviews, she says she loves hosting her job, but following her around, all I heard were her complaints," the man said to his companion next to him.
"Who cares, this is the person Brother August wants. We got her, so let’s hurry back to him. Just for this little while, we each make ten thousand bucks. Isn’t this easy money? Finish the job, get the money, and we can find a place to have a good meal tonight," the other man didn’t care about the celebrity status at all.
"To me, celebrities are good; they have a high price. If it was an ordinary civilian, would Brother August give ten thousand bucks?
For an ordinary person, it would just be one thousand bucks to send them off.
But her fame isn’t that high, so the price offered isn’t the highest in the industry—such a pity.
About an hour later, Charlotte Miller slowly came to her senses. As she opened her eyes, the dim light was enough for her to see several tall and burly men around her.
"Brother August, the host has woken up." The first to notice Charlotte was the skinny, red-haired man guarding her.
"Drag her over here," Brother August commanded from his chair as he flung all his cards out, "Bomb! Pay up, guys. After this, I’ll take you to the night club for drinks."
After speaking, Brother August swiveled his chair around, extended his hand, and a subordinate immediately handed him a cigarette and lit it for him, showing keen understanding.
Charlotte Miller was dragged over without any courtesy and thrown at Brother August’s feet. She had always been aware of the city’s dark places, but never imagined she would one day find herself in such a situation.
"It’s very late now, so I won’t exchange pleasantries with you, Charlotte Miller, right?" Brother August crossed his legs, "You’re quite familiar with Charles Young from King Town, aren’t you? He’s made a lot of money from you, hasn’t he?"
Charlotte’s gaze flickered slightly when she heard that name, instinctively denying it with a shake of her head, "I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve been in Capital Province recently and haven’t been to King Town."
"Cut the crap. I have the surveillance video from the Crystal Element Hotel right here. You haven’t been to King Town, huh? The person in the CCTV footage, is that your doppelgänger? Haha, you’re killing me!" Brother August said, then suddenly kicked Charlotte in the face, "I said it’s very late, let’s not be cordial, can’t you understand human speech? Listen up, I want the truth. If you dare lie to me, I’ll slash your face!"
Brother August was truly ruthless. As he spoke, he grabbed a fruit knife from the table behind him and swung it across the back of Charlotte’s hand.
Without the slightest pity or tenderness, Charlotte immediately screamed in pain, clutching the wound with her other hand, but the blood quickly stained her palm red.
"If you don’t start being honest, the next cut will be on your flower-like face!" Brother August threatened, "Tell me, is Charles Young under your control?"
"I’ll tell you, I’ll tell you," Charlotte’s pain made her long for the hospital, unable to endure, she nodded repeatedly, "It was me, it was me."
"That’s better to admit it," Brother August flicked the cigarette butt, then asked, "One more question, how did you get Mr. Black’s mobile number?"
