Chapter 2229 - 2238: Onboarding Review Panel
The mansion’s soil and water are fertile, and the fruits produced by the trees there taste quite good.
Later, after asking the personnel, they found out that the mansion also has an orchard available for picking. In the afternoon, everyone didn’t stay indoors but went to play in the orchard.
It was only until sunset that the chill in the air became more apparent and this gathering finally dispersed.
After getting off the shuttle bus, Jane Sampson called out to Coco Edwards, "Do you want to walk with me? If so, let James Black take your fruits and put them in the car trunk. We can wait at the doorway for him to drive out."
"No need." Coco Edwards shook her head.
Next second, Quincy Forest and Nina Rice came over.
"There’s a new situation! Is your brother Grid coming to pick you up?" Quincy Forest asked.
Coco Edwards nodded, "I just got a message from him saying he’ll be at the doorway in a few minutes, so I just found out he’s coming to pick me up again."
"Not bad, not bad, he really is attentive. It seems he really values you," Nina Rice praised, "We’ll make sure to give you a thorough evaluation."
Two minutes later, James Black and the others drove the car to the doorway, and James Black rolled down the window, calling out to Jane Sampson, who was still standing there.
Coco Edwards, being thin-skinned, meant Jane Sampson and Nina Rice didn’t deliberately stay to wait with her for Grid. Instead, they each got into their cars and left first. The car hadn’t been driven three hundred meters before they saw a taxi drive in, its window rolled down, and Jane Sampson could see Grid sitting in the rear seat at a glance.
When the cars passed each other, Jane Sampson in the car also saw Grid and greeted him with a "hi," but she only had time to see Grid raise his hand and wave at her.
Her mobile phone was constantly ringing with new message notifications, and Jane Sampson picked it up to take a look.
There was a new group in WhatsApp, named "Grid’s On-the-Job Inspection Team."
Inside were just the four girls.
There were already more than a dozen messages in the group, all sent by Quincy Forest and Nina Rice.
Coco Edwards only replied with a rolling eyes emoji, and Jane Sampson took a glance and put down the phone, turning to look at James Black, who was driving.
After staring at him for a few seconds, Jane Sampson still didn’t see James Black glance back at her.
So she asked him, "Why don’t you ask why I’m staring at you?"
"Haven’t you been staring enough these past few days?" James Black retorted.
"True." Jane Sampson was convinced by James Black’s counter-question, nodding, "Since you knew, why didn’t you ask why I’m staring at you?"
"I asked once, you didn’t say. If I ask again, you still won’t say." James Black added smoothly, "Why have you been staring at me these past few days?"
"..." Jane Sampson shook her head, huffed, and didn’t answer his question, instead directly asking, "After lunch at noon, Rachel Miller came to find you. What did he say to you?"
In the afternoon, James Black was even colder towards Rachel Miller.
Just now, when they parted at the doorway, Rachel Miller called James Black, but in front of all those people, James Black acted as if he hadn’t heard.
He couldn’t even be bothered to put on a facade.
Even Quincy Forest noticed that James Black was particularly cold towards Rachel Miller, so much so that it could be described as indifferent and dismissive.
"He said he wouldn’t live long and was unwilling to let the Miller Family’s stuff go to outsiders, so he brought a lawyer, wanting to dump the Miller Family’s stuff on me." James Black explained in a casual tone, and when mentioning the Miller Family, his tone was evidently filled with disdain.
What outsiders were fighting tooth and nail for was, in James Black’s eyes, just trash worthy of being dumped.
