Chapter 2235 - 2244: A Scumbag
"Helping an outsider and helping a grandson-in-law are different levels of assistance. Joseph Shaw is ambitious and won’t be satisfied with just the level of help given to an outsider. Otherwise, Jillian Carter, would Joseph really have married her just because he genuinely likes her? I don’t believe that."
Oscar Wilson shook his head, "Not everyone has the courage to like a woman as dramatic as Jillian Carter."
"Don’t talk like that. Didn’t you also have a crush on her before?" Jane Sampson nudged Oscar Wilson’s arm, "That’s commendable courage~"
"That’s different!" Oscar Wilson’s face turned completely red, and he emphasized, explaining word by word, "Who hasn’t blindly loved a jerk when they were young?"
These words rolled off Oscar Wilson’s tongue quite naturally.
"I was young at that time, my eyesight wasn’t fully developed, so that crush doesn’t count." Oscar Wilson shook his head, "That’s it."
Jane Sampson was truly dumbfounded. Could an explanation really be this quirly?
The three of them walked out of the airport amidst their banter. Since they were giving James Black and Jane Sampson a ride, Oscar Wilson drove leisurely and steadily.
Upon arriving at the Carter Family home, Oscar Wilson acted as if he was one of them and happily followed them inside.
"Granny Carter, my mission is complete. I’ve brought back your beloved granddaughter and grandson-in-law safely!" Oscar Wilson shouted to Granny Carter.
"Good job. Here’s a reward for your encouragement." Jane Sampson smoothly took a lollipop out of her pocket and handed it to Oscar Wilson, then patted the back of his hand.
"Oh my, Jane Sampson, you’re an adult and you still carry candy in your pocket?" Oscar Wilson laughed, immediately unwrapped it, and started eating, "Alps lollipop, original flavor, and it’s pretty good."
"Delicious, but it can’t keep your mouth shut!" Jane Sampson pulled James Black away from Oscar Wilson.
The candy in her pocket was actually put there by James Black, and she wouldn’t have given it away if Oscar didn’t deserve credit for picking them up!
Granny Carter and Old Sir Carter watched the two bickering and laughed heartily. Seeing how well Oscar Wilson and Jane Sampson got along, they were at ease.
If Oscar Wilson hadn’t mentioned it before, the two elders wouldn’t have known that he and Jane Sampson had known each other for so many years.
Oscar Wilson stayed for lunch at the Carter Family home before leaving. After Oscar left, Granny Carter, feeling sorry for Jane Sampson and James Black who caught an early flight, shooed them upstairs for a nap.
Jane Sampson didn’t push it, yawned, and went up. She fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
The family banquet was to start at 6:30, held at the Carter Family home.
Around four o’clock, Jane Sampson was woken up by Mother Carter, who had just returned from outside. Even though Mother Carter knew Jane had brought clothes back, she couldn’t resist buying Jane a lot of things to take home.
After waking up, Jane Sampson was in good spirits, so she let Mother Carter be happy and tried on one outfit after another for her, delighting both Mother Carter and Granny Carter.
"Didn’t I say this color looks good on Jane? Such a bright yellow, others can’t pull it off, our Jane certainly can." Granny Carter’s words were full of pride, "With our Jane looking so good, she can wear anything well."
"Of course, Grandpa says I look like Grandma, naturally I look good!" Jane Sampson twirled in place to show her approval of the seniors’ taste.
These words made both Father Carter and Old Sir Carter, who were brewing tea, grin widely.
"Jane really knows how to talk; look how happy she makes your mother." Old Sir Carter beamed, turning to James Black, "You married a good wife, someone who can make anyone happy. She’s like a pistachio; when you see her, all the bad moods vanish."
