Chapter 2236 - 2245: A Losing Bargain

~4 min read 670 words

"Yes." James Black showed not a hint of humility and nodded directly.

She can definitely make people happy. As long as she’s willing to be cheerful, no one could bear to be upset with her.

However, when the little lass is in a mood, she can be quite taxing.

James Black slightly curled the corner of his lips and laughed softly, "She’s great."

Just as James finished speaking, James Carter happened to walk in from outside.

He’d just rushed back from the film set and hadn’t even entered the main gate when he heard the bursts of laughter coming from in the house. Listening to this laughter, all his exhaustion vanished in an instant.

Since his accident, it had been a long, long time since the atmosphere in the house was so relaxed.

"Your brother is back." Granny Carter patted Jane Sampson’s shoulder, "You should go tidy up and change into your clothes."

Jane Sampson walked over to greet James Carter, asked about the situation at the film crew, and learned that as long as James Carter went back tomorrow to reshoot a few scenes, he was good. Jane felt happy.

As soon as it hit 6:30, the Carter Family’s guests started to arrive one after another.

But the earliest to arrive was the Wilson family.

As soon as Oscar Wilson entered the door, he shouted for Jane Sampson.

"Little Jane, I’m here!"

After shouting, seeing Jane Sampson come out arm in arm with James Black, Oscar couldn’t help but take a few extra glances.

"Tsk tsk tsk, beautiful!" Oscar snapped his fingers, "She looks just like a little fairy who walked out of a painting."

Madam Wilson almost burst out laughing. How had she not noticed before that her son, who had such a sharp tongue, could also be so flattering?

After praising Jane, Oscar looked at James Black and clicked his tongue several times, "Are you two a walking dog food machine? You’re really blinding my dog eyes."

"What nonsense are you spouting?" Father Wilson raised his hand and whacked Oscar on the forehead with a smack.

"???" Oscar was left bewildered, "What nonsense did I spout?"

"Your mother and I didn’t give birth to you with dog eyes; where did you get your dog eyes from?" Father Wilson sternly asked.

"Your son is a single dog; aren’t they dog eyes?" Madam Wilson lovingly touched Oscar’s head, "Your dad doesn’t understand our young people’s terms, don’t mind him."

Jane Sampson now understood why Oscar had such a lively personality; this whole family was quite boisterous.

"You, don’t just hit our son for no reason. He’s foolish enough already; if you hit him even more foolish, will you take care of him for a lifetime?" Madam Wilson gave her husband a sidelong glance and then led Oscar towards Jane Sampson.

As soon as they reached Jane, face to face, Madam Wilson immediately let go of Oscar’s hand and instead held Jane’s hand.

"Jane, Aunt has watched you grow up, and you’re even more beautiful in person than on TV! When you were little, I used to think, how wonderful would it be if I had a beloved daughter like you. I never thought, my dream would come true. You’re Oscar’s friend, and now you’re Aunt’s daughter too!"

Madam Wilson genuinely liked Jane Sampson, and when she saw the little miss on TV, she liked her a lot. A smart and well-behaved little lass.

"Mom, has your logic been eaten by a dog?" Oscar exploded, "What do you mean my friend is your daughter? Then you’d have too many daughters to count, and being your daughter wouldn’t be special at all."

Oscar saw his mom glare at him, but he wasn’t afraid, "Glaring won’t help. You just want to swap me for Aunt Carter’s daughter, but Aunt Carter won’t agree."

"I’d certainly know I can’t trade for a loss like that!" Madam Wilson snorted at Oscar, "My son is basically a loss."

"..." This statement left Oscar a bit speechless.
