Chapter 629 - 637: If You Don’t Allow Questions, Then No Questions

~3 min read 589 words

James Black didn’t rush to return to the guard team, instead he drove the car into the parking lot.

Only after the car was parked did Jane Sampson put on her hood, mask, and glasses; when she was set, she unbuckled her seatbelt and reached out to open the car door.

She pushed twice but couldn’t get it open.

Jane turned her head to look at James Black and reminded him, "Your car door is locked."

Jane listened as James Black hummed in response, but he still sat there, motionless, staring at her.

"What are you doing?" Jane removed her sunglasses from her nose bridge, waved them in front of James Black, and teased, "Daydreaming?"

James Black took Jane’s hand into his, she rolled her eyes at him and leaned forward to try opening the door herself. However, as soon as she leaned in, James Black suddenly tightened his grip on her hand and yanked her over, causing Jane to fall straight into his arms.

Before Jane could react, James Black pulled down the mask on her face with one hand and, releasing her wrist with the other, pressed her head toward him, kissing her without warning.

The kiss from James Black was urgent and unexpected, full of force.

Jane, half-seated on his lap, was stunned, and during those brief few seconds of her daze, he had breached her defenses and wrapped around her.

He embraced her tightly, the hand on her lower back pressed firmly against her waist, pushing her chest close to his, as if she could feel the frequency of his heartbeat.

Thump, thump, yet it seemed, even slower than her own.

Was this the flaw of kissing her without a second thought that he had first thing in the morning?

As if she had lost the instinct to refuse, Jane tentatively responded with the tip of her tongue. Yet she didn’t anticipate that this slight movement would be fully captured by him, and then, she could no longer escape.

A kiss that seemed to use up all his strength.

When James Black finally had enough and let her go, Jane’s face was red as if it might drip blood.

She lay panting heavily against James Black’s chest, hands tightly clinging to the sleeves of his arms, her gaze fixed on the palm that was lightly touching her face.

His hand was broad enough to engulf hers in one swoop.

Jane sat there for a long time before she could catch her breath. She could feel James Black’s hand on her head gently smoothing her somewhat disheveled hair in a soft, slow motion.

This moment, it seemed as if a vulnerability had been pried open in Jane’s heart, soft and supple, as if being tightly enveloped by an undefined warmth.

"James Black," Jane’s fingers gently touched the back of his hand.

"Hmm?" James Black responded with a slightly raspy voice.

Jane looked up at him with a smile in her eyes, her voice tender, "Do you really not want me to leave that much?"

His hand, which had been stroking her head, paused for a moment, and James Black lowered his gaze to the woman in his arms who was looking at him with sparkling eyes.

The car was silent for a few seconds before James Black asked her,

"If I say yes, will you now go back with me to the guard team?"

Without hesitation, Jane shook her head and grinned, "No way."

"Heh," James Black chuckled, "Then why are you asking all these questions?"
