Chapter 661 - 669: Nothing is Predetermined

~4 min read 616 words

"Let’s go," James Black urged, holding a thermos in one hand and the car keys in the other, as he led Jane Sampson out of the home doorway.

Although James had told her she could rest while on the road, once the car had started moving, Jane Sampson felt quite spirited.

After getting into the car, James promptly gave the thermos to her. Jane didn’t ask any questions, instinctively assuming that the cup contained James’s brewed tea leaves water.

Many of James Black’s habits were almost identical to those of Old Master Black; he would leave the house as if an old cadre, always carrying a thermos filled with tea leaves water.

Therefore, Jane only begrudgingly held the thermos for a while before disdainfully setting it aside.

James must have noticed her action, so he spoke up, "The water is prepared for you."

Jane expressed surprise, "Just so you know, I don’t drink tea water! Drinking a whole pot would keep me awake all night."

Seeing that James had ignored her, Jane picked up the discarded cup again and opened it to take a look.

Upon opening the cup, the scent of lemon wafted out first, and with a curious glance at James, she realized he had been busy making lemon water in the kitchen while she was changing clothes.

Jane took a small sip and corrected herself, it was honey lemon water.

The unexpected preparation of a bottle of water by James meant that for the duration of the trip, she would lose the excuse to indulge in chilled drinks and ice cream.

So, Jane smacked her lips, holding onto this inexplicably obtained water, and felt it wasn’t quite as delightful as she had first thought.

It took more than two hours of driving to arrive at Daniel Taylor’s hospital. They brought the nutrition products directly from home and put them in the car, so Jane and James just bought a bouquet of flowers at the hospital doorway and, after parking the car, went to Daniel Taylor’s ward with the products.

Though Rock Bell always verbally deprecated Daniel on a daily basis and for whatever reasons they did get divorced, Rock Bell had still stayed at the hospital to take care of Daniel during his days of surgery.

When Jane and James entered, Daniel was discussing lunch plans with Rock Bell.

"Sister Tin," Jane walked in holding James’s hand and greeted the two inside, "Director Taylor."

"Your way of addressing me changes every day," Daniel said with displeasure, "Can’t you youngsters stick to one thing?"

Jane giggled and, after a quick glance at Rock Bell, promptly corrected herself, "Sister Tin’s husband."

"Don’t listen to him," Rock Bell rolled her eyes at Daniel lying on the sickbed before greeting the newcomers. Seeing James accompany Jane, Rock Bell even looked surprised.

"You rarely get a day off; why not stay home and rest instead of taking the trouble to come here? It’s not as if you don’t know he’s only had a minor surgery; it’s not going to kill him." While Rock Bell’s mouth said one thing, her smile at the sight of Jane showed she was genuinely happy.

"There’s nothing much to do when idling at home, and I haven’t seen Sister Tin’s husband for quite a while since the last show ended, so taking advantage of my free time today, I decided to come and visit. James just happened to be on vacation, and he drove me here, so I didn’t have to squeeze through crowds at the high-speed train station," Jane cheerfully explained, then released James’s hand and passed the flowers to Daniel, uttering several auspicious and pleasant phrases that made Daniel laugh heartily.
