Chapter 685 - 693: I’ll only kiss you

~3 min read 594 words

James Black’s tone was severely strict, as if he was knowingly committing a crime of added degree, and Jane Sampson just froze there, stunned.

She thought James Black was just joking with her, but after observing his expression for a few minutes, she finally understood that he was serious and not joking at all.

"Jane Sampson, besides me, who else do you want to kiss? Who, huh?" His last "huh" carried an indescribable threat.

After he spoke, James Black leaned one hand against the grape trellis behind Jane, slightly bending over and adding spatial threat to his already menacing tone.

Jane swallowed hard and quickly shook her head, "I didn’t kiss anyone, nobody at all."

Feeling that was still not enough after speaking, Jane tiptoed to peck the corner of James’s lips and said earnestly, "Just you, nobody else."

Feeling her brief kiss, James raised his eyebrows but said nothing.

Jane thought for a moment, then continued, "You gave a good scolding."

Jane’s apologetic attitude, as well as her method of acknowledging her mistake, pleased James to a considerable extent.

He straightened up, releasing a breath.

Jane reached out to poke the arm he had propped on the grape trellis behind her and said softly, "I’ve already admitted my mistake, why the glum face?"

"Don’t let me catch you doing it again." James finally withdrew his hand and, as he did, casually ruffled Jane’s head.

After tousling her diminished hair, James changed from propping to wrapping his arms around Jane’s waist and walked back.

Jane wriggled in protest, and James, thinking she wanted to escape, switched from hugging to clamping her with his arm.

"Don’t clamp me like that! Let go!" Jane exploded in anger and smacked James’s arm several times without holding back.

The Great General just happened to walk by, and seeing James clamping Jane like that, he thought James was bullying her and barked three times at James.

"Great General, bite him!" Jane, with her head pressed under James’s armpit, heard the dog’s barking and immediately directed the Great General to come help.

Upon hearing the order, the Great General immediately showed his teeth in a threatening hiss at James, standing fully alert and glaring fiercely at him.

James glanced down at Jane, who was snarling at him, and couldn’t help but laugh softly to himself, noting that at this moment, there seemed to be little difference between the expressions of the woman and the dog.

"Great General, go on!" Jane, seeing the General merely baring his teeth and gasping for breath without moving, urged him again.

The General stepped forward at her words, but before he got close to James, James turned his head to give him a cold look, and the dog stopped in his tracks.

After standing still for two or three seconds, the Great General suddenly turned and ran upstairs.

"Great General! Come back here! Cowardly dog!" Jane stamped her feet in frustration, and listening to James still laughing softly by her side, she twisted her head to glare at him, "You have her inside, aren’t you going to let go?"

She really wanted to slap his handsome face with a slipper.

"Woof woof woof!"

Suddenly, the Great General ran back down from upstairs, having been gone for only about ten seconds, and this time he had a bag of potato chips in his mouth. Desperately racing down from the second floor, he didn’t stop when he reached James but instead pushed the bag of potato chips toward James’s free hand, seemingly offering the chips to James.
