Chapter 686 - 694: She Can’t
James Black waved his hand, and seeing that he couldn’t wave the Great General away, he accepted the potato chips.
After James Black had taken the potato chips away, the Great General turned and ran toward Jane Sampson, biting her skirt hem and dragging it forward.
This time even Jane couldn’t help but laugh.
"Since you accepted the Great General’s potato chips, you’ve got to return me to the Great General," Jane realized that the Great General had gone upstairs to find his favorite potato chips and then decided to exchange her for the potato chips with James Black.
So, her affection for the Great General wasn’t in vain.
"You’re only worth a bag of potato chips," James Black didn’t continue to tease Jane Sampson and finally was willing to let go.
When the Great General looked back and saw that Jane Sampson was free, he was especially happy, wagging his tail and barking joyfully around her.
After turning around twice, the Great General suddenly lunged toward the other hand of James Black, swiftly reclaiming the potato chips, and then ran toward Jane Sampson, who had moved a few steps ahead, and joyfully pushed the potato chips in his mouth into her arms.
James Black looked at his empty hand and stood watching as Jane Sampson turned back to give him a provocative smile, sneering after a few seconds.
"No wonder the Great General likes you best," James Black said as he watched Jane Sampson, who was already sitting on the carpet in front of the sofa, opening the potato chips for the Great General, and directly went to sit behind her, "Birds of a feather flock together."
Jane Sampson pretended she didn’t hear, feeding the potato chips one by one to the Great General, who was wagging his tail happily.
Elder Black and Aunt Black, seated to the side, had been watching the entire time as James Black walked in hugging Jane Sampson, and both of them felt a fresh sense of astonishment.
James Black had grown so well, and not only Elder Black, but even Aunt Black had never seen him play around with someone like this.
Other boys in junior and high school would often roughhouse and loop their arms around their best friends, but James Black wasn’t like this, so no one in the Black Family had ever seen him play around with anyone like that.
Let alone, take the initiative to tease someone in this way.
"It’s quite nice," Elder Black took a sip of his tea that had gone cold, his face unable to hide his pleasure.
Aunt Black nodded in agreement, then added, "Quite nice."
After saying this, Aunt Black turned her head and gave James Black a piece of advice, "But still, you need to learn to give Jane some slack. Bringing a girl home with your arm around her from outdoors, it’s only because Jane has a good temper and didn’t make a fuss. If it were another girl, they would’ve turned against you by now."
"She won’t," James Black replied confidently, and while speaking, he reached out to pat Jane Sampson’s head in front of him.
Probably even James Black himself hadn’t realized how that sentence, "She won’t," along with the gesture of patting her head, was filled with a doting affection.
James Black kept watching Jane Sampson feed the Great General potato chips, and during that time she turned her head to sneak glances at him three or four times. Each time he directly met her gaze, watching her touch her nose tip sheepishly before turning her head back, he said nothing.
Only after the potato chips in Jane Sampson’s hand were all gone did James Black speak up, "It’s getting late, we need to catch an airplane tomorrow, let’s head back early."
Jane Sampson looked at the Great General, who was still licking the potato chip powder off her fingers, and replied slowly with an "Oh," then reluctantly stood up to wash her hands.
When she came out after washing her hands, James Black was already holding her purse, standing at the doorway waiting for her.
The Great General seemed to know she was leaving, so he also stood by James Black’s side, no longer wagging his tail, and a pair of eyes stared straight at where she was coming from, then he barked with a "wang."
