Chapter 750 - 758: Who Are You Calling?

~4 min read 632 words

"I’m just glad you’re okay." Rock Bell truly let out a sigh of relief this time, as the weather in Capital Province had been awful these past few days. But today, early in the morning, she received word that the earliest flight in the morning could take off without issue, so she immediately booked the very first flight to come over here.

Nina has always said that Jane Sampson is a person of strong will and really stubborn as well; Nina has known Jane for a very long, long time, and has almost never seen Jane cry.

Even on her 18th birthday, when she stood in the crowd, completely overlooked, she didn’t let her eyes redden or tears fall.

Nina said that even when Jane was at her most aggrieved, all she did was keep a blank expression without saying a word.

So, knowing such a strong-willed and stubborn girl was crying inconsolably, Rock Bell had been worrying about Jane Sampson all along.

As a result, when she found out Jane Sampson had missed the premiere, Rock Bell didn’t wish to say anything more than necessary, nor did she ask further questions.

Fortunately, Jane Sampson had John Young, a director who was reasonable.

At this moment, seeing Jane Sampson able to smile at her again, Rock Bell couldn’t help but reach out and ruffle Jane’s head, whispering, "Nina has never caused me this much worry."

"Thank you, Sister Tin," Jane stepped forward in two strides and hugged Rock Bell tightly, "You’re the best person in this world."

"Such sweet talk, you’re getting better at being spoiled," Rock Bell felt so flattered by Jane’s compliment that she lost the urge to scold her at all.

James Black stood there with raised eyebrows, glancing at Jane Sampson and suddenly let out an inexplicable chuckle before turning and walking straight into the house.

"What’s up with him?" Rock Bell exclaimed, "Your man seems to be mad at you?"

"Never mind him," Jane waved her hand, then holding onto Rock Bell’s arm, she too followed inside, all the while saying, "The porridge should be ready now, Sister Tin, come have breakfast with us."

"Sure, that works. We can eat and discuss your future work arrangements," Rock Bell nodded in agreement.

Once they were inside the house, Jane instinctively looked for James Black in the living room and, seeing him sitting properly on the living room sofa, she went straight to the kitchen. About 15 minutes later, she brought out the porridge and had also made three dishes of appetizers.

"Sister Tin, breakfast is ready," Jane put the dishes on the table and first called out to Rock Bell. When she saw James still sitting on the sofa, motionless, Jane thought he hadn’t heard her and called out louder, "It’s mealtime! It’s mealtime!"

Seeing James Black still sitting there unmoved, Jane gave a puzzled sound and walked over to him, standing behind and patting his shoulder while muttering, "Didn’t you hear me saying it’s time to eat? Did you hurt your ear too? Should we go back to the hospital for another checkup?"

Jane swore she meant no sarcasm or scorn by that comment.

But, someone’s face seemed to sour instantly.

"If you didn’t call me by my name the way you did Sister Tin, how would I know you were calling me?" James Black replied with a cold voice. Only then did he stand up and walked straight to the dinner table.

"Flawed!" Jane muttered behind James Black’s back.

The person walking ahead paused, turned his head to look at her coolly, and Jane stood there, taken aback, shrinking her neck, sticking out her tongue, and quickly ran to James’s side, hugging him from behind.

Just for a second, she held him, then quickly let go.
