Chapter 849 - 857: Ban
She dares to set a price as if she were the richest person in the world.
"Jane, hold onto this tightly, otherwise, who knows if some random person will snatch it away again," Coco Edwards taunted the woman next to her as she passed the hairpin to Jane Sampson.
Jane Sampson quickly took it from her and, seeing the woman’s furious expression, she dared not to put it back on.
"Do you know who I am?" Amber Edwards’s face lost color, "Since you’re here at the doorway waiting, you must be here to audition, right? I am one of the investors of this drama. If you offend me, Jane Sampson, just with one sentence from me, you won’t even be considered for an extras role."
"If the actors for this drama are all up to you to decide, then I, Jane Sampson, simply won’t act," Jane’s expression didn’t change one bit, "Anyway, what I said still stands, I’m not selling the hairpin."
Coco Edwards looked at Jane Sampson in astonishment. Rock Bell had made it very clear that she must try her best for this role in this drama, and yet Jane Sampson had seemingly without effort just offended one of the investors?
So what was the point in auditioning?
Coco Edwards’s gaze swept over the hairpin in Jane’s hand, mumbling to herself. Considering how Jane treasured that hairpin, could it be a Valentine’s Day gift from James Black?
If that was the case, Coco could understand why Jane was adamant about not trading it for all the money in the world.
"You said it," Amber Edwards scoffed. "The same way I have the power to prevent you from getting this role, I also have the power to stop you from getting any other scripts. Think it through, and when you change your mind, just call this number. Jane Sampson, let me tell you, when I, Amber Edwards, set my sights on something, there’s never a time I can’t get it!"
With that, Amber Edwards opened the door and shouted inside, summoning her assistant. She then said, "Leave your business card with her and go tell the director I disagree with Jane Sampson playing any role in this drama. Tell Jane Sampson there’s no need for her to audition."
After speaking, Amber Edwards left with large strides, her gaze lingering on the hairpin in Jane’s hand before she left.
To say she liked it was indeed true.
So seeing something she coveted end up in the hands of someone like Jane Sampson, Amber Edwards felt the hairpin was undeservedly placed.
Yet there was Jane, just an actor who depended on men for survival, what right did she have to hold such a hairpin?
And like an idiot, treating it as if it was an ordinary piece of jewelry one could find anywhere in the market, not knowing how to properly cherish it after obtaining it, actually taking it out and using it right away.
Truly laughable.
Once Amber Edwards had gone, after a while, someone who looked like an assistant came out from inside, looking helpless as she said to Jane Sampson, "Miss Sampson, I’m sorry, but please, you should leave for now."
After saying that, the personnel let out a sigh and then added, "It’s just a hairpin after all, why are you clashing with Miss Edwards, who’s like an overlord? She’s not asking for your stuff for free, she likes it, so why not just give it to her? Miss Edwards has many connections in this circle, and if she’s serious about opposing you, she can impose a ban on you just as well."
Jane Sampson didn’t explain anything; she turned around and left with Coco Edwards.
This was an outcome neither of them had expected. They had come well-prepared, yet they were turned away even before stepping through the door for the audition.
"Jane, that Miss Edwards was just looking for trouble," Coco Edwards comforted her upon seeing Jane’s upset face, "Let’s go back, and I will explain everything to Sister Bell."
