Chapter 895 - 903: I’ve Taken the Mobile Phone

~4 min read 626 words

"I got you a new phone, you can do without anything else—just not a phone." Jane Sampson took out a box from the rear seat and handed it to Bright Sampton. It was a black, latest-model Fruit brand phone. "You’ll have to get the SIM card yourself."

As she said this, Jane took a card out of her wallet and handed it to Bright. "You returned your card to Dad, this is my card. There’s ten thousand in it. Take it and use it for now. If you run out, just tell me, and I’ll transfer more to you. Don’t try to save it for me; I have work and investments now, so I can afford to support you with plenty to spare."

"Sis, I’ll take the phone, but let’s skip the money, okay?" Bright waved his hand. "I still haven’t spent my scholarship from last semester."

To tell the truth, it wasn’t much. Otherwise, Bright wouldn’t have left it untouched for so long.

It was only 2,000 bucks, not even enough to buy a phone that wouldn’t lag during gaming.

That’s also why he went straight back to the base instead of going to buy a new phone first.

But here he was, well-grown, and still spending his sister’s money which made him feel somewhat embarrassed.

"You think I don’t know how much your scholarship is?" Jane laughed. "Last time you got it, you even showed off to me, just 2,000 bucks."

"Well, I’m at the base all day and rarely go out, so there aren’t many places to spend money," Bright said, scratching his head, a little embarrassed to have been found out by Jane.

"Without mentioning anything else, you have to spend on food, social obligations, and mingling with colleagues—all that costs money," Jane patted Bright’s shoulder. "If you really feel embarrassed, just think of it as a loan from me. When you get your salary, or when you win an award and get prize money, you can pay me back then."

"Alright, I’ll consider it a loan from you then," Bright finally took the card, knowing in his heart that what Jane said was true.

"I’ve still got quite a lot of stuff in the trunk, want me to help you carry it in?" Jane opened the car trunk and called Bright over to take his stuff.

Although Bright guessed that his suddenly mothering sister meant quite a lot by ’not a small amount of stuff,’ he didn’t expect it to be enough to fill the entire trunk.

"Sis, did you manage to clear out the whole shopping mall in less than two hours?" Bright held his forehead.

The car trunk was full of clothes, shoes, and wallets. That wasn’t all; there were also foods, fruits, snacks, and even beverages among other items.

There wasn’t anything that Bright could think of that Jane hadn’t bought.

"Forget it, with so much stuff, I might as well call my colleagues to help me carry it in," Bright said. "You can just help me with the light things, sis. Leave the rest to us men."

Having said that, Bright turned and motioned to his group of silly colleagues who thought they were unnoticed on the balcony. "Come down and give me a hand with these things."

"Alrighty! We’ll be right there!" The voices from upstairs were swift.

Jane, watching the people still on the balcony waving to her, mostly around Bright’s age or even younger, felt reassured.

"Your colleagues seem to be quite easy-going," Jane smiled.

"Yeah, they’re all good." Bright nodded. "Our team leader is a nice guy, too."

In just a couple of sentences, Bright’s colleagues had already come out, a few young men jostling each other and collectively shouting to Jane. "Sis!"
