Chapter 926 - 934: Will You Kiss Me?
She cried uneasily, like a child who had lost her way in the night.
James Black thought, perhaps, he hadn’t done enough, which was why she felt so insecure.
Lying together, she curled up in his arms with un-dried tear stains on her face, her hands clutching the corner of his pajamas tightly, as if terrified of being abandoned.
James Black’s hand gently caressed her face, before he lowered his head and kissed her eyes softly.
"Good girl, close your eyes and sleep," James Black coaxed softly.
"Then when I wake up tomorrow morning, will you kiss me?" asked the person in his arms, sounding aggrieved.
"Yes," James Black murmured, curving the corners of his mouth in a slight smile, hoping she would remember what she said before sleep once she sobered up the next day.
Having received a reassuring answer, the little drunkard closed her eyes.
This time, she really fell into a deep sleep after just a short while.
But James Black stayed awake until midnight, holding her and unable to fall asleep.
She had once received the most enviable affection in the world, and then, overnight, she lost it all.
Perhaps that’s why she always feared losing the affection she gained later.
Always anxious about gaining and losing.
If it hadn’t been for her drinking too much this time, if he hadn’t left her side for a short while to take a bath, if she hadn’t cried and said, "If you’re gone, you can’t leave me."
James Black thought, watching her laugh happily with others every day and tease him, he might never have known how sensitive and fragile her heart was.
Nor would he have known that Jane Sampson was the person best at pretending in the world.
She carefully disguised her true inner world, making herself appear as the always happy Jane Sampson to others.
She never let anyone see the fluctuations in her heart.
She could always perfectly hide her feelings with insincere words.
The night slowly departed, the sky gradually brightened, and streaks of white light came through the gaps in the window curtains.
The person in his arms shifted slightly, one leg resting on his, hands placed at the pillowside, with no signs of waking and still sleeping soundly.
James Black watched Jane Sampson’s sleeping figure and silently chuckled. It seemed that pampering her during this period wasn’t without effect; at least in her sleep, her heart subconsciously desired to be close to him.
James Black’s heart relaxed, and he closed his eyes, finally falling asleep with peace of mind.
Jane Sampson woke up naturally the next day, her eyes opening to see the alarm clock beside the bed displaying 10:30.
She sat up abruptly, turned her head to look at the person beside her, and seeing James Black still sleeping, she wondered if the alarm clock was broken.
"James Black." Jane Sampson pushed James Black, "Get up quickly! You still need to go to the hospital for a reexamination!"
James Black then opened his eyes, paused for a second, and grunted in acknowledgment.
"Wake up a bit more; I’m going to wash," Jane said, getting out of bed and heading straight for the bathroom, thinking that they needed to hurry, or else the doctors at the hospital were likely to finish their shifts.
Of course, what surprised Jane even more was that James Black could also oversleep.
Could it be that he had been drunk last night?
With that thought, Jane made a questioning sound.
How had she and James Black come home last night?
She tilted her head, thinking, and then remembered the sweet taste of the fruit wine.
Jane smacked her lips; that fruit wine was indeed delicious.
