Chapter 975 - 983: Amber Edwards Shut Your Mouth
Jane Sampson was frightened by James Black’s tone, and upon hearing James Black mention there were two murderers, she was even more terrified.
However, she snapped back to her senses within a few seconds and nodded vigorously at James Black.
"It should be fine," she said, her voice trembling.
James Black stretched out his hand and gently patted the back of Jane Sampson’s hand, then lowered his head and kissed her red lips. "Be careful, and when the mission here ends, I will come to find you."
Jane Sampson hummed a response and pulled Coco Edwards along the path they had come.
On the way up, the two had been leisurely chatting and picking wild fruits, but now they were running back. Perhaps because of the nervousness in their hearts, both of them had unlocked a potential for sprinting and, astonishingly, made it back to the film crew in just seventeen or eighteen minutes, gasping for breath upon their arrival.
"Jane Sampson, was there a snake chasing you or something? Why are you running like that? Just look at your hair and clothes," James Chip said with a frown of displeasure. "Later, when it’s time for you to run during the shooting, don’t tell me you’re too exhausted to do it."
"Director," Jane Sampson approached James Chip, gasping for air as she spoke. "We need to get off the mountain quickly. Just now, while Coco and I were picking wild fruits, we met defenders from the guard team on a mission in the mountain village. They told me that two murderers had run into the mountains."
Upon hearing this, James Chip’s expression changed rapidly.
Amber Edwards, upon hearing Jane Sampson’s words, scoffed and walked over saying, "It’s just two criminals. What’s there to be afraid of? We have dozens of people here; are we scared of two? The director said yesterday that our filming time in the mountains is very tight. We’ve just started climbing, and now you want us to go down? If we don’t finish shooting, who is responsible? Jane, will you take responsibility?"
Amber Edwards simply had a reflex to counter anything Jane said.
Moreover, she was absolutely unwilling to walk the path up the mountain again—she had done it today, and if they went down now, would she not have to do it all over again tomorrow?
Climbing this mountain had nearly broken her legs.
Amber Edwards thought that even if the two murderers came, with so many people here, she wasn’t afraid. Even if the murderers were very fierce, she didn’t believe she would be so unlucky as to encounter them. At most, she would hide in her tent and not come out. With so many people around, trouble wouldn’t find her first.
"Amber, just shut up," said James Chip, clearly annoyed by Amber’s reflexive interruptions without waiting for Jane to finish speaking. He was particularly irritated by this kind of thoughtless interjection.
Moreover, what Jane Sampson had mentioned was quite serious, and James Chip was already worried, which explained his impatient tone.
"These two murderers have guns and other weapons," Jane Sampson interjected. "Director, these two murderers must be extremely vicious and dangerous. Generally, the police handle catching murderers, but if the guard team’s defenders have been deployed, it means that tracking these criminals is difficult."
Most importantly, even Chief James Black was involved, which showed that this incident was anything but ordinary.
Upon understanding the gravity of the situation, James Chip immediately instructed everyone. "Pack up valuable items, and then let’s move off the mountain right away."
In any situation, it’s better to be safe than sorry. If something were to happen, lamenting later would be too late.
