Chapter 974 - 982 I Recognize You

~3 min read 578 words

"The wild fruits in these mountains are just too plentiful; I should have brought my big backpack," Coco Edwards said. "I would pick about ten or eight catties and then sell them to rich folks like Amber Edwards for ten thousand per catty."

"Quite the moneymaker," Jane Sampson teased Coco, then turned her head and suddenly noticed a bunch of red wild fruits next to a bush.

Jane had a hard time remembering the name of this wild fruit, but she knew it was edible.

"Hold on, after we pick that fruit, we’ll head back." Jane had an empty bag in her hand, which she shook before walking towards the bush.

Unexpectedly, when she reached the bush, she found herself staring into a pair of deep eyes, which startled her so much that she froze on the spot.

The eyes’ owner had his head covered in camouflage grass and his face painted with oil colors. He made a silent gesture with his hand to Jane and then motioned for her to bend down.

Jane nodded, bent over, and asked in a low voice, "What are you doing?"

The next second, those hands gently but firmly patted her forehead. A familiar voice came out, "You’re really daring. If I tell you to keep quiet, you keep quiet; if I tell you to squat, you squat. Did it never occur to you that I might be a bad guy?"

James Black was really annoyed.

Seeing his young wife and Coco Edwards here also left James equally bewildered.

"I recognized you." Jane held her head where James had patted her, "Why hit so hard? Did it leave your handprint?"

"No," James glanced at her forehead then asked incredulously, "Did you really recognize me just now?"

"Yes," Jane nodded, "I recognized you the moment I saw your eyes."

Doubt was written all over James’s oil-painted face.

"I really did recognize you; why won’t you believe me?" Jane cut in, then pointed at James’s wrist, "Even if I didn’t recognize your eyes, there’s this watch too, which I gave you. I would recognize it anywhere."

"There’s more than one such watch in the world," James responded coldly.

"But there’s only one person who has those eyes and also wears this watch at the same time, and that’s you," Jane pressed, poking at James’s watch.

"Little Jane, who are you talking to?" Coco asked as she walked over upon hearing Jane’s voice but not seeing her.

"It’s my husband," Jane laughed. "I didn’t expect to run into him here."

James didn’t stay down either; he sat up and then said to Jane seriously, "Has your crew come up the mountain? How many people came up?"

"Including all the personnel, I guess there are about fifty or sixty," Jane replied. "The rest are still in the film and TV town continuing with the Assistant Director. Only the actors who have scenes here came up."

"Now, go back to your crew and tell them to leave this mountain immediately. We are here on a mission to capture two murderers, and one of them is armed with guns and other weapons. I’ll contact the police at the bottom of the mountain to assist you guys in leaving," James instructed.

"This is an important crossroads, so I can’t leave to escort you back to your film crew now. Now that you know this, are you scared? Tell me, do you dare go back with only Coco?" James asked.
