Chapter 458: Discovered
Arriving at the entrance to the Ministry of Magic, Li An looked up; the building before him was magnificent and solemn, emitting an air of mystery. He carefully glanced around to ensure he had not been discovered. Then, he murmured a spell in a low voice, his body gradually turning transparent and vanishing into the darkness.
After infiltrating the Ministry of Magic, Li An found the defensive magic here far more complex and powerful than he had imagined. Various magical traps and detection spells were scattered in every corner; a single slip would trigger an alarm.
"It seems this mission is more arduous than I imagined," Li An thought silently, yet his steps did not falter in the slightest. Relying on his rich experience and keen observation, he skillfully avoided one defensive magic after another.
In the corridor of the Department of Mysteries, Li An moved forward cautiously. Strange lights flickered on the surrounding walls, and a low humming sound came from time to time, as if countless eyes were watching him in the darkness.
"The atmosphere here is truly chilling," Li An muttered in a low voice, gripping his wand tighter. His gaze swept alertly around, missing no possible danger.
Finally, Li An arrived at the door of the Ministry of Magic archives. He took a deep breath and slowly pushed the door open. A musty scent rushed to meet him; the room was filled with tall bookshelves stacked with all kinds of magical books and documents.
"This is the place." Li An felt a surge of excitement in his heart; he hurried into the archives and began searching for clues regarding the lost spellbook.
However, just as he was rummaging, a familiar voice suddenly sounded behind him: "I knew you would come here."
Li An was startled; he turned quickly and saw Draco Malfoy standing at the door, a smile of triumph on his face.
"Draco, how did you get here?" Li An frowned, his eyes revealing wariness.
Draco sneered and took a few steps forward: "Of course I am here to stop you. Do you think you can so easily find clues to the lost spellbook? How naive!"
Li An was silently wary; he knew Draco would not let him go easily. Yet he showed no fear, instead lifting the corners of his mouth slightly to reveal a mocking smile: "Oh? On what grounds do you think you can stop me? Relying on you, a puppet controlled by your family?"
Hearing these words, Draco's face instantly turned gloomy; a flash of anger passed through his eyes: "What did you say? How dare you insult me and my family!"
"I am stating the truth." Li An stared unflinchingly into Draco's eyes and continued, "Do you think everything you do is for your family's glory? In fact, you are merely a pawn of Voldemort and the pure-blood families, played with in their hands 703."
Draco's body trembled slightly; his fists were clenched tight, his knuckles white from the force: "You... you are lying! Everything I do is to uphold the dignity and status of the pure-blood families!"
"Dignity and status?" Li An sneered and shook his head. "Look at you now; for your family's orders, you are willing to make an enemy of me. You do not even have your own thoughts and will; what dignity is there to speak of?"
Draco was thoroughly enraged by Li An's words; he could no longer endure such an insult. He suddenly drew his wand and pointed it at Li An: "You bastard, I will make you pay for your words!"
