Chapter 683

~4 min read 601 words

"We did it, Yao." Li An smiled as he looked at Guo Yao, his eyes full of tenderness.

Guo Yao also smiled: "Yes, we did it. But this is only the beginning; there are still more challenges waiting for us."

The moment Li An and Guo Yao stepped through the Xukongzhi Sect hand-in-hand, it was as if they were swallowed by an invisible force; their vision went black, then light returned. They found themselves inside a massive trial labyrinth, shrouded in mysterious mist on all sides, as if even the air was filled with unknown threats.

"Is this the trial inside the Xukongzhi Sect?" Guo Yao's voice trembled slightly, her eyes containing both expectation and unease.

Li An drew a deep breath, his gaze like a torch as he swept his eyes over the surroundings. "It seems so; we'll have to be careful."

Just then, a cold laugh shattered the silence of the labyrinth, and several figures gradually emerged from the mist, the leader being none other than Carlos. He wore black close-fitting clothes, his face cold and cruel, his eyes full of contempt. "Li An, you really dare to come, without even knowing your own worth."

A glint of cold flashed in Li An's eyes; he knew Carlos was a formidable opponent, but he would never show weakness before him. "Carlos, the Xukongzhi Sect is a fair chance for everyone to compete—do you think you can stop me?"

Guo Yao clung tightly to Li An's arm; her voice, though soft, revealed firmness. "Li An, we'll face it together."

Carlos burst into laughter, as if he had heard some joke. "Just the two of you? Take a good look at whose territory this is."

Before the words had faded, the surrounding mist suddenly surged, the ground began to shake, and sharp spikes burst forth from all directions, pointing straight at the sky. Li An and Guo Yao reacted swiftly, their figures flashing as they dodged the initial attack.

"Be careful, these traps aren't simple." Li An reminded Guo Yao in a low voice, while warily observing the movements around them.

Seeing this, Carlos's subordinates rushed at Li An and Guo Yao one after another. Li An, however, did not engage them directly; instead, he pulled Guo Yao through the labyrinth, using the complex terrain to evade the enemies' attacks.

"Li An, what are you doing? Why aren't you fighting back?" Carlos was somewhat puzzled; he had expected Li An to engage immediately, never imagined he would choose to evade.

A cold smile curled at the corner of Li An's mouth; he did not answer Carlos, but continued observing the enemies' attack patterns and the traps' regularity. Guo Yao followed closely behind him, her eyes full of trust and admiration.

"Li An, you will definitely find a way to break through." Guo Yao's voice rang in Li An's ear; her words were like a spring breeze, making Li An's heart grow quiet and firm.

Finally, when the enemies had grown somewhat weary, Li An found the Jideji Society. He suddenly stopped, his body tilting to one side to dodge a subordinate's attack, while reaching out to pull Guo Yao to his side.

"Watch closely, Guo Yao." Li An gave a low shout, his figure darting through the labyrinth like a ghost. He cleverly used the traps to trap several subordinates among the spikes, their screams echoing through the labyrinth.

Carlos's eyes went wide; he had not expected Li An to actually use the traps to counterattack. The subordinates beside him also showed looks of terror, no longer daring to step forward easily..
