Chapter 684: Too Weak
"Not bad, kid. You've got some skill." Carlos snorted coldly. He realized he could no longer underestimate Li An.
Li An stopped in his tracks and fixed Carlos with a piercing gaze. "Carlos, your subordinates are too weak. You'd better come at me yourself."
Carlos laughed in spite of his fury. He strode forward, his body sweeping toward Li An like a gale. "Then I'll personally come teach you a lesson."
Li An's figure flashed and he dodged Carlos's attack. He knew clearly in his heart that Carlos's strength far surpassed his own, and he could not meet force with force.
The two went back and forth in the labyrinth, the battle exceptionally fierce. Relying on his nimble movements and outstanding wits, Li An kept evading Carlos's attacks while searching for a chance to counter.
"Li An, watch out!" Guo Yao suddenly shouted. She saw one of Carlos's fists about to land on Li An.
Li An's heart gave a jolt. He twisted sideways and dodged Carlos's strike by a hair's breadth. He seized the moment to counter, landing a punch on Carlos's shoulder and sending him staggering back several steps.
Carlos steadied himself and glared viciously at Li An. "Kid, you've actually got some moves~."
Li An was breathing slightly hard. He knew his strength was far inferior to Carlos's, but he would never give up easily. "Carlos, don't think you can defeat me that easily."
Just then, a mysterious ripple spread through the labyrinth, as if something were awakening. Li An and Guo Yao's hearts tightened; they knew this meant an even greater danger was about to arrive.
"Looks like we'll have to pick up the pace." Li An looked at Guo Yao, his eyes full of resolve.
Guo Yao nodded. She gripped Li An's hand tightly, as if to pass all her strength into him. "We'll face it together."
Carlos also sensed that mysterious ripple. His expression shifted slightly, but he quickly regained his composure. "Hmph, so what if there's greater danger? This Carlos of the Qi Society would never fear it."
Just then, the fog in the labyrinth suddenly grew thicker, as if even the line of sight were blocked. Li An and Guo Yao's hearts tightened; they knew this was a Fog Array and they had to handle it carefully.
"Li An, what should we do?" Guo Yao's voice trembled slightly. Though she trusted Li An, the situation now was simply too bizarre.
Li An drew a deep breath. He gripped Guo Yao's hand tightly, as if to pass all his courage and strength into her. "Don't be afraid. I'm here."
Relying on memory and instinct, he felt his way forward through the fog. Suddenly, a trap appeared before them—sharp spikes thrust up from the ground, pointing straight at the sky.
Li An reacted swiftly. He pulled Guo Yao into a flash of movement and dodged the trap's attack. But their movement also drew Carlos's attention.
"Hmph, think you can run? Not that easy." Carlos's voice rang out through the fog as he led his subordinates in pursuit of Li An and Guo Yao.
Li An's heart tightened. He knew he could not meet force with force now and could only use the Fog Array to buy time. He led Guo Yao darting swiftly through the labyrinth, constantly dodging attacks from both Carlos and the traps.
"Li An, running like this isn't going to work either." A note of anxiety crept into Guo Yao's voice.
Li An frowned slightly; he too was turning over countermeasures in his mind. Suddenly, his eyes lit up—he spotted a fork in the road ahead.
"Guo Yao, follow me." Li An pulled Guo Yao toward the fork, and they chose a path that looked like a dead end..
