Chapter 748: Triggering a Disaster?

"Li An, I heard you've arrived. I didn't expect you to be besieged by these people." Lei Kesi looked at Li An, a flicker of complicated emotion passing through his eyes.

Li An gave a slight bow and said, "Knight Commander my lord, I have come here to seek the Key of Light. I know that what happened before has caused you all to misunderstand me, but please believe me, I came here only to seal the Shadow of the Abyss."

Lei Kesi nodded, indicating he believed Li An's words. He turned to those conservative knights and said sternly, "Stand down! Li An is our guest, not our enemy. If you dare cause any more trouble, you'll be dealt with by military law!"

Though those conservative knights were reluctant, they did not dare disobey the Knight Commander's order, and one after another sheathed their swords and withdrew.

Li An looked at Lei Kesi gratefully and said, "Thank you, Knight Commander my lord."

Lei Kesi waved his hand and said, "No need for such courtesy. Li An, I know the purpose of your visit. But the Key of Light is a sacred relic of our Temple of Light and cannot be handed over lightly to an outsider. However, I can help you search for its whereabouts."

Hearing this, Li An's heart leaped with joy. He knew that with Lei Kesi's help, the hope of finding the Key of Light had undoubtedly grown immensely.

"Thank you, Knight Commander my lord. When shall we set out?" Li An asked.

Lei Kesi thought for a moment and said, "There's no time to lose; we'll set out right now. However, you must first come with me to see someone."

Li An nodded in agreement. He followed Lei Kesi through a long corridor and arrived at a mysterious room. The room was furnished very simply, with only a large bed and a desk. On the desk sat a bright oil lamp.

Li An curiously surveyed the room, wondering who Lei Kesi was about to take him to see. Just then, a gentle voice rang out: "Li An, you've come."

Li An followed the sound and saw a woman dressed in white rise from the bedside. She was tall and slender, with a delicate, beautiful face, and her eyes sparkled with the light of wisdom. Li An looked closely and realized she was none other than Sophia, the Holy Maiden of the Temple of Light!

"Sophia?" Li An cried out in surprise.

Sophia smiled as she looked at Li An and said, "Didn't expect it, did you? I'm actually Lei Kesi's younger sister. I've long heard of your deeds and have been wanting to meet you. I didn't expect that today you'd deliver yourself right to my door."
