Chapter 252: Close the Door to Beat the Dog
At the Long Country Frontline Command, the air was so tense it had almost solidified.
Li Yunlong stood before the map, his face as gloomy as iron, his eyes fixed intently on the red markers representing the enemy's breakthrough points.
"What is the situation?" he asked in a deep voice.
The communications staff officer reported nervously:
"It's not good. Both the northern and southern lines have been breached. The enemy armored forces have penetrated 5 to 7 kilometers and are still advancing rapidly. Our anti-tank weapons are almost ineffective, and casualties are heavy."
"Damn it!" Li Yunlong slammed the table hard.
"What about those reinforcements? Has Li Mingyuan's new weaponry arrived yet?"
Just then, Zhao Gang hurried into the command post with a rare hint of a smile on his face:
"It's here! The first batch of anti-armor weapons just arrived. Li Mingyuan is leading the team himself and is currently distributing and providing training at the front line!"
Li Yunlong's eyes lit up: "What kind of weapons? How many?"
Zhao Gang unfolded a list:
"Three types in total: Improved RPG-2 Rocket Launchers, with an armor penetration depth of up to 200 millimeters;
Claymore Directional Mines, mainly for dealing with light armored vehicles and infantry;
57mm recoilless guns, equipped with Tungsten Core Armor-Piercing Shells, which can be called 'tank killers'.
The first batch, totaling 500 RPG-2s, 300 Claymore Mines, and 50 recoilless guns, has already been distributed to the key defensive areas on both flanks."
Li Yunlong gasped: "So many? Is that kid Li Mingyuan a deity? It's only been a few days!"
Zhao Gang smiled: "There is even better news. The Self-Propelled Rocket Launcher test was successful, and the first batch will also arrive at the front line tomorrow. Li Mingyuan told me to tell you to let the enemy penetrate a bit deeper so we can wipe out more at once."
Li Yunlong pondered for a moment, a flash of ruthlessness in his eyes:
"Understood! Pass on my order: frontline troops are to continue implementing the 'Lure the Enemy Deep' tactic. Resist in appearance, but withdraw in an orderly fashion to lead the enemy into our preset 'pocket'."
He pointed to several key points on the map: "Set up ambushes at these positions and focus on deploying the new anti-armor weapons. Once the enemy enters the ambush circle, execute a pincer annihilation immediately!"
"What about the central assault group?" Zhao Gang asked.
Li Yunlong sneered: "Stay put and let the enemy think we don't dare to mobilize our main force. Once they drill into the pocket, the central assault group will strike from the flanks to form a counter-encirclement!"
Zhao Gang nodded and turned to relay the orders. Li Yunlong stood before the map with a firm gaze:
"The Di Guo fellows want to play a Pincer Offensive? I'll let them taste what it means to 'Close the Door to Beat the Dog'!"
On a certain highland on the northern line, Lao Liu was personally demonstrating the usage of the RPG-2 to a group of soldiers.
"Watch closely," he said, lifting the weapon that looked like a large shotgun, "this isn't an ordinary rocket launcher, but a 'Metal Storm' capable of piercing Di Guo tanks!"
The soldiers gathered around curiously, their eyes filled with anticipation and awe.
Lao Liu explained patiently: "The Cast Iron Charge Cover is the Hexin. When it explodes, it forms a high-speed metal jet with a temperature exceeding 3000 degrees, which can easily slice through the side armor of the enemy's M46 Tank."
He pointed to a thick steel plate placed on a distant hillside: "Watch."
Lao Liu mounted the RPG-2, aimed, and pulled the trigger. The Rocket Shell whistled out and struck the steel plate; amidst the fire of the explosion, the steel plate was easily penetrated, leaving a large hole.
The soldiers erupted in a burst of exclamations and cheers.
"Now that's a weapon!" an old soldier said excitedly, "Once the Di Guo fellows' iron turtles see this thing, they'll surely wet their pants!"
Lao Liu smiled: "Remember, aim for the side or rear of the tank, where the armor is thinnest. The effective range is 150 meters; don't be greedy for long-distance shots. One person operates, two provide cover, and move immediately after firing."
He turned to another group of soldiers, pointing to the flat, plate-like device on the ground:
"This is the Claymore Directional Mine, specifically for dealing with enemy infantry and light armored vehicles. Bury it on the enemy's path, detonate it by remote control, and with a 50-meter kill radius, it is the perfect ambush weapon."
Finally, he came to a group of artillerymen and patted the seemingly crude but powerful 57mm recoilless gun:
"This is the true 'tank killer'. It is operated by three people and can precisely destroy enemy main battle tanks within one thousand meters. The Tungsten Core Armor-Piercing Shell is the key; remember, you must aim for the tracks and Engine position on the side of the tank."
Lao Liu looked around at the soldiers who would be using his weapons, his tone becoming serious:
"Brothers, whether these weapons can be effective depends on you. Remember, it is courage and wisdom, not just weapons, that win battles!"
The soldiers responded in unison: "Guarantee to complete the mission!"
Lao Liu nodded and then conducted final deployments with commanders at all levels.
"According to reconnaissance, the enemy is mainly advancing along these three routes," he drew several circles on the map,
"Set up ambushes at these positions to build a multi-layered fire net. The first layer is Claymore Mines, focusing on striking enemy infantry; the second layer is RPG-2 Rocket Launchers, mainly responsible for paralyzing tanks; and finally, the recoilless guns, responsible for annihilating the remaining armored forces."
A Company Commander asked: "The enemy is numerous; can we hold them off?"
Lao Liu smiled confidently:
"Remember, it's not about a head-on collision, but about winning through strategy. The enemy relies on their armored advantage; once they discover us retreating, they will inevitably push forward recklessly.
This is our chance—let them drill into our pocket, and then wipe them all out in one go!"
After the meeting ended, the various units immediately took action, deploying anti-armor weapons according to the plan and constructing the ambush circle.
Specially selected snipers and rocket launcher gunners quietly slipped into their designated positions, camouflaging carefully and waiting in concealment.
The engineering team buried Claymore Mines at key intersections and mountain passes, then carefully covered them with branches and dirt.
The recoilless guns were placed on high ground overlooking the entire battlefield, and the gunners repeatedly calibrated their sights to ensure the first round of fire could hit the vital parts of the enemy tanks.
"They are all buried, Company Commander," an engineer reported while wiping sweat, "a total of twelve Claymores were buried, covering the entire valley entrance."
The Company Commander nodded: "Very good. Now withdraw to the second position and wait. Remember, once the enemy enters the ambush circle, do not fire until the order is given."
Night fell, and the front line was eerily quiet.
The Long Country soldiers hid in their respective ambush positions, gripping their weapons tightly and waiting silently.
In the distance, the sound of enemy tank Engines and the roar of tracks came intermittently, gradually approaching the ambush circle.
At a certain mountain pass on the northern line, a small Long Country squad of soldiers huddled in the bushes, each with a brand-new RPG-2 Rocket Launcher beside them.
"Is it true that this thing can really pierce a tank?" a young soldier asked in a low voice, his tone filled with doubt.
"Brother Long, have you seen it with your own eyes?" another soldier asked the veteran who had just participated in the demonstration.
The veteran nicknamed "Brother Long" nodded solemnly: "Seen it with my own eyes; one shot punched right through that thick steel plate. Those iron coffins of the Di Guo fellows are nothing!"
"Shh! Quiet!" the class monitor whispered sharply, "The enemy is here!"
