Chapter 305: Enemy Conspiracy, Intelligence to Beijixiong

~7 min read 1,269 words

General Maise's lips turned pale.

"Y-yes, sir. According to frontline reports and technical analysis, Long Country has used a certain special weapon capable of causing short circuits in electronic equipment; we call it a 'Graphite Bomb'. It can form a conductive cloud in the air, infiltrating and short-circuiting all electronic equipment..."

"Enough!" Carter slammed a fist onto the table; the tactical map bounced up violently, then slowly settled back down.

"I don't need to hear these scientific explanations! I want results!"

"Three days ago, you swore to the Commander that Long Country's technological advantage had been surpassed by us; you said we would occupy the Frontline Command of Long Country within a week!"

The entire conference room was deathly silent; the air seemed to have frozen.

"And now?" Carter's voice was as low as if it came from hell.

"Three defensive lines have been breached, over four thousand soldiers captured, and nearly a thousand vehicles and hundreds of artillery pieces abandoned on the battlefield. This is the greatest disgrace since the founding of our military!"

Vice Commander Wilkes stepped out from the shadows and gave a light cough.

"There is even worse news: in just 36 hours, the enemy has advanced 40 kilometers. The defensive line we originally planned to hold for three months didn't even last three days."

General Maise opened his mouth, but could not make a sound.

Carter looked around at the room full of officers; everyone kept their heads down, as if there were something interesting on the floor.

"General Maise," Carter said coldly, "you are relieved of all duties, effective immediately. A military tribunal will investigate your dereliction of duty."

Maise shuddered, "But sir, I..."

"No buts!" Carter interrupted sharply.

"What did the victory you promised the Commander amount to? Endless disgrace! Are you expecting the Commander to take responsibility for your incompetence?"

General Maise's face turned ashen; he took off his hat and shoulder straps and left the conference room without a word.

That retreating figure looked as desolate as a defeated old man.

Wilkes cleared his throat, "Major General Linke, from now on, you will take over Maise's duties and be responsible for frontline command."

A tall, thin officer stood up and gave a salute.

"Yes, sir. But if I may speak frankly, the current situation is already extremely dire. The Long Country military's speed of advancement exceeds expectations; if they continue this momentum, they will break through the Equidistant Line within a week and threaten our homeland security."

"The Equidistant Line must be held!" Carter roared, "Use every means necessary, even if it means sending all the veterans to the front!"

In the corner of the conference room, a civilian official gathered the courage to raise a hand.

"Sir, I fear there is a more realistic problem to consider. Our Advanced electronic equipment has proven to have zero resistance to 'Graphite Weapons'. If we continue to deploy such equipment, we will only be sending more 'scrap metal' to the people of Long Country."

Wilkes's expression was grim, "What is your suggestion?"

"In the short term, we should perhaps consider... temporarily abandoning electronic warfare, returning to mechanical control systems, while actively seeking a diplomatic solution."

"Surrender?" Carter's eyes widened, "Are you suggesting we surrender to Long Country?"

The civilian official hurriedly shook his head, "No, sir, I am suggesting we seek a ceasefire, maintain the status quo at the Equidistant Line, and give us time to develop countermeasures."

As soon as the words fell, the conference room immediately split into two factions.

The Military generals were incensed and firmly opposed any form of compromise, while the civilian officials advocated for a rational response to avoid greater losses.

"Quiet!" Wilkes raised a hand to stop the clamor.

"I understand everyone's dissatisfaction, but we must face reality. Long Country's technological breakthrough is indeed worrying." He paused, "But we cannot just admit defeat like this."

An Intelligence Officer suddenly spoke up, "Sir, I have a proposal."

Everyone's gaze focused on him.

"Long Country's technological breakthrough threatens not only us, but also Beijixiong Guo. If Beijixiong knows that Long Country has already taken a massive lead in electronic technology, will they sit idly by?"

Wilkes raised an eyebrow, "Are you suggesting..."

"Secretly transmit the intelligence we have on Long Country's new weapons and battlefield data to Beijixiong Guo."

A cunning light flickered in the Intelligence Officer's eyes.

"Beijixiong will never allow Long Country to dominate alone; they will certainly take action to contain them. We can use their strength to strike."

There was silence in the conference room; everyone was considering the feasibility of this risky move.

Carter took a deep breath, "This is indeed an option."

He turned to the head of intelligence, "Swanson, do you think it's feasible?"

Intelligence Officer Swanson pondered for a moment.

"Theoretically feasible, but the risk is high. Once Long Country discovers we are colluding with Beijixiong, it will intensify the conflict. However, there seems to be no other choice at the moment."

"Good, then that's what we'll do." Wilkes made the final decision.

"Swanson, you are responsible for compiling a detailed intelligence package, including Long Country's 'Hunter-Killer System', 'Graphite Bomb', and their 'Integrated Circuit' technology. The more detailed, the better; I want Beijixiong Guo to be restless after seeing it!"

Swanson nodded, "Sir, it will take about 24 hours to prepare. We will organize all the samples and analytical data collected from the front lines."

At this moment, a Communication Soldier ran into the conference room in a hurry.

"Sir, urgent report from the front! The Long Country military has already broken through the fourth defensive line; they are expected to arrive at the rear within 48 hours!"

Exclamations erupted in the conference room.

Carter slammed a fist against the wall, "Damn it! They are even faster than we imagined! Swanson, you only have 12 hours, understand? In 12 hours, the intelligence must be in the hands of Beijixiong Guo!"

"Yes, sir! I will get to work immediately."

In the basement of the Di Guo intelligence department, Swanson led an elite team, busily organizing all relevant information on Long Country's new weapons.

"Put all the photos of the Graphite Bomb explosions taken at the front into it," Swanson ordered.

"And the analysis reports on the wreckage of the downed fighter jets, the detailed diagrams of the tank circuit burnouts... all materials that can demonstrate Long Country's technological strength, not a single one can be missing!"

An assistant asked curiously, "Sir, are we really going to send this classified intelligence to Beijixiong? They are our old rivals, after all."

"The situation is stronger than the people," Swanson sighed.

"Right now, the rise of Long Country is a greater threat to us. Don't worry, we won't show all our trump cards to Beijixiong, just enough to shock them and make them realize that Long Country is no longer that backward nation."

The intelligence package was soon compiled and placed into a special diplomatic pouch.

Swanson personally handed it to an agent.

"Remember, this intelligence must be delivered directly into the hands of the high-level officials of Beijixiong Guo; any delay could lead to catastrophic consequences."

The agent nodded solemnly, "Understood, sir. I will ensure it is delivered safely."

The next 12 hours were a race against time.

The agent first took a private plane to Zhongli Guo, then transferred to a commercial flight to the capital of Beijixiong Guo, carefully avoiding surveillance from all sides along the way.

In the end, the intelligence package arrived safely at the special channel of Beijixiong Guo and was quickly delivered to the high-level officials.
