Chapter 306: The Polar Bear is Confused: Is Long Country Really This Fierce?
A secret conference room.
"Comrades," Deputy Chief Gromov said with a grave expression,
"We have received special intelligence from Di Guo. The content concerns a series of recent technological breakthroughs by Long Country on the battlefield."
The leadership of the polar bear nation and others sat around the conference table.
Gromov gestured for his assistant to distribute the documents, "Please, everyone, take a look at these materials first."
As the document folders were opened one by one, the atmosphere in the room gradually grew tense.
The brows of several officials furrowed tighter and tighter; some even could not help but curse under their breath.
"This is impossible..." Popov flipped through the photos, his voice trembling with shock,
"How could Long Country achieve such massive technological breakthroughs in such a short time?"
Medford took off his glasses and wiped the sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief,
"According to these materials, Long Country has successfully developed practical Integrated Circuit Technology and applied it to weapon systems. This is at least 5-10 years ahead of our projections."
"The most worrying thing is this 'Graphite Bomb'," Popov pointed to a photo showing enemy positions shrouded in Black Fog,
"It can cause all electronic equipment to fail in an instant. Imagine if this kind of weapon were used on us..."
Karpov interrupted, "Wait, how can we be sure this intelligence is real? Could this be a sowing-discord tactic by Di Guo?"
Gromov responded calmly,
"Our intelligence department has already conducted preliminary verification. These all align with the intelligence content."
"There is more evidence," Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexei added,
"Our intelligence network in Long Country has also sent back similar news, mentioning that the Long Country Military is deploying a new type of weapon on a large scale capable of destroying enemy electronic systems. Although details are unclear, the general direction is consistent."
The conference room fell into a brief silence as everyone digested this startling information.
"Comrades," Gromov finally broke the silence,
"We must take this issue seriously. If Long Country truly has mastered these technologies, then the balance of power will fundamentally change. Not only Di Guo, but we too will face unprecedented challenges."
"How should we respond?" the leader asked, "Is it necessary to exert pressure on Long Country?"
Gromov's gaze swept across every attendee,
"Before taking any action, we need more information. First, strengthen intelligence gathering on Long Country's technological and military movements; second, assess the potential threat these new technologies pose to us; finally, formulate a response strategy."
Popov could not help but interject,
"Comrades, I must point out a worrying trend.
Long Country's 'Hunter-Killer System' can intercept Anti-Tank Missiles, their 'Graphite Bomb' can paralyze electronic equipment, and coupled with the computing power boost from 'Integrated Circuit'... all these technologies point in one direction:
Long Country is building an entirely new combat system, and many of our advanced weapons may become ineffective in the face of this system."
Medford's face was grim,
"The most worrying thing is the 'Integrated Circuit' technology. According to our research, this technology can theoretically increase computing speed by dozens or even hundreds of times.
And computing power is the Hexin of modern warfare... If Long Country has truly mastered this technology, it means they could achieve leapfrog development in multiple fields such as electronic warfare, precision-guided weapons, and Radar Systems."
"According to our analysis, Long Country's Integrated Circuit Technology is at least five years ahead of us, perhaps more."
Zorov pointed to a data table on the projector, his fingers trembling slightly,
"They have already achieved miniaturization and high-density integration, which means their computing power will grow geometrically."
Gromov furrowed his brows, "What is your suggestion?"
Zorov cleared his throat, "From a technical perspective, we should immediately establish a cooperative relationship with Long Country and strive for technology sharing. This is the fastest way to catch up."
"Cooperation?" Popov scoffed, slapping the table,
"Comrades, have you forgotten our status? We are the big brother!
Long Country's technology should rightfully be used by us!" He glared around at everyone,
"These technologies originated from our theoretical foundation; they just got lucky! And now they want to keep them for themselves?"
Medford frowned and said:
"Comrade Popov, the facts are likely not that simple. Our experts analyzed the intelligence provided by Di Guo; Long Country's technological path is significantly different from our theories. This does not look like a result developed based on our theories."
"Then we should be even more vigilant!" Popov raised his voice,
"Where did they get these technologies? Did they betray us and turn to Di Guo? Or... is there another source?"
He paused meaningfully for a moment, "In any case, we cannot tolerate a Long Country that has mastered advanced technology remaining outside our influence."
Karpov interjected, "We need to analyze this calmly. Although Long Country has technological breakthroughs, they are still our ally. Direct pressure might be counterproductive."
"Ally?" Intelligence Director Kuznetsov sneered,
"In recent years, Long Country has long since stopped being obedient. They have rejected many of our reasonable requests and even privately developed relationships with several Zhongli Guo. Now they have suddenly mastered this strategic technology... their ambition is clear for all to see!"
The argument gradually heated up, and the conference room split into two distinct factions:
The "Hawks" advocated for immediately exerting strong pressure on Long Country, demanding technology sharing, and even resorting to military threats;
While the "Doves" advocated for a cautious response, obtaining the technology gradually through diplomatic means.
Gromov had been listening in silence and finally raised his hand to stop the argument, "Enough."
The entire conference room immediately fell quiet.
"We all know what the purpose of Di Guo providing this intelligence is," Gromov said calmly,
"They hope to sow discord in our relationship with Long Country and have us exhaust each other. But even so, we cannot ignore the challenges brought by Long Country's technological progress."
He stood up and walked to the world map hanging on the wall,
"The rise of Long Country is an unstoppable historical trend. The question is not whether we acknowledge this, but how we respond to it."
His finger traced the outline of Long Country on the map,
"If we take hardline measures, we might push Long Country completely onto a path of independence, or even turn them into our enemy;
But if we do nothing at all, we will lose our influence over Long Country and watch as a technological powerhouse rises on our border."
Gromov turned around, his gaze like a torch, "Therefore, we need a balanced strategy."
