Chapter 594: Chiyou Initialization Complete
"Careful, that is ultra-high-density titanium alloy. Its surface temperature is near absolute zero; touch it, and your finger will be gone."
Department Head Zhang recoiled in fright: "This kind of material... how could we possibly produce it?"
"We certainly cannot, at least not right now," Li Mingyuan said calmly, "so we use the Small World System to perform molecular construction, then materialize it. Simply put, we skipped the manufacturing process and went straight from virtual design to physical finished product."
Department Head Zhang felt his worldview had been completely shattered: "This is simply... a miracle."
"No, this is science, just science that is decades more advanced than the current world." Li Mingyuan patted the foot armor of this steel giant, producing a dull metallic clanging sound, "After Chiyou is completed, its height will exceed one hundred meters, loaded with a miniaturized 'Yanlong-II' fusion reactor as its power Hexin, equipped with a fourth-generation quantum artificial intelligence system, and..."
He paused for a moment, seemingly considering whether he should continue.
"And what?" Department Head Zhang pressed.
"And a weapon system capable of changing the world order." Li Mingyuan's gaze became incomparably sharp, "Department Head Zhang, do you know? When the Star-Spangled Country and Beijixiong Guo have us by the throat, forcing us to play the game by their rules, what we need is not compromise, but a trump card that can flip the game table."
He pointed at the massive steel skeleton: "Chiyou is that trump card."
At this moment, a low humming sound rang out, and the warning lights on the ceiling began to flash.
"Energy transmission has begun," Li Mingyuan said, "stand steady."
The next second, the entire workshop seemed to come alive. Dozens of thick energy conduits lit up with blue light, winding down from the ceiling and connecting to various parts of the steel giant. A visible energy fluctuation began to flow through the conduits, like liquid blue flames.
"The fusion energy of the Small World..." Department Head Zhang muttered to himself.
As the energy was injected, the steel giant's skeleton began to vibrate slightly, and strange blue patterns emerged on the already installed armor plates, like ancient totem runes or perhaps the circuits of future technology.
"This is a type of energy conduction system," Li Mingyuan explained, "it can convert the raw energy generated by fusion into various forms, used for propulsion, defense, and even attack."
Department Head Zhang felt a tremor from the depths of his soul, not knowing if it was fear or awe: "Lao Li, to be honest, is this thing... really something humans can build?"
Li Mingyuan smiled without answering, only saying meaningfully: "Five years ago, would you have dared to imagine the Longxin-III? Two years ago, would you have dared to imagine controllable nuclear fusion? Some things are not impossible, just not yet the right time."
Over the next three months, Li Mingyuan spent almost all his time in the Chiyou Tomb, personally supervising the assembly process of this steel giant. Through the time-acceleration function of the Small World System, work that seemed impossible to the outside world was advancing at an astonishing speed.
Finally, late one night, the last piece of Chiyou's head armor was installed. The massive humanoid machine stood in the center of the workshop like a war god stepped out of ancient mythology. Its height exceeded one hundred meters, its entire body covered in matte black composite armor, with ghostly blue energy patterns flowing through its joints. Most striking was its "head"—there was no anthropomorphic design, only a huge red optical sensor, like the eye of a cyclops, emitting a chilling red light.
"Damn, this thing is terrifying as hell," an engineer muttered, "it looks just like a demon god from ancient mythology."
Li Mingyuan stood on a special lifting platform, rising to the "chest" position of Chiyou, where a hatch led to the cockpit.
"Chief Engineer, are you sure you want to test it yourself?" the ground control personnel asked through the communication system, "The Neural Link System has not been fully calibrated, the risk is very high."
"Only I can pilot it," Li Mingyuan said with a firm tone, "because only my brain can withstand the load of the neural link."
He walked into the cockpit and sat in the central control seat. After the hatch closed, dozens of slender neural probes extended from the back of the seat, precisely piercing his neck, spine, and Taiyang. Intense pain made him clench his teeth, but soon, the pain vanished, replaced by a strange sensation—his consciousness seemed to expand, merging into one with this massive steel body.
"Neural link established," Li Mingyuan said through the internal communication system, his voice trembling slightly with excitement, "starting initialization."
With a thought, Chiyou's core system began to boot up. The micro-fusion reactor located in the "chest" flashed with blinding blue light, and energy flowed rapidly along the conduits covering its entire body. The lights in the entire workshop flickered, and all electronic equipment experienced brief malfunctions.
"Energy stabilizing," Li Mingyuan's voice sounded over the comms, "preparing for full-body system online."
Following his mental command, Chiyou slowly raised its right arm. The airflow generated by this simple movement caused light equipment in the workshop to be blown askew. The steel giant's fingers spread out one by one, every joint moving precisely according to Li Mingyuan's will.
"Too... too incredible," the technicians in the control room were dumbfounded, "the coordination is three times higher than expected!"
Just then, an alarm sounded abruptly.
"Energy fluctuations are exceeding the safety range!" a technician exclaimed, "The fusion reactor's output power is rising out of control!"
"Calm down," Li Mingyuan's voice came through the speakers, unusually calm, "this is a normal phenomenon; the system needs to adapt to the energy flow pattern during the initial startup."
The air in the workshop began to distort, like heat waves on an asphalt road in summer. Visible ripples of energy expanded outward from Chiyou's body, and static-like interference appeared on the screens of all electronic devices.
"All personnel evacuate to the safety zone!" the ground commander issued an emergency order, "The energy fluctuation is about to reach its peak!"
Staff members scrambled toward the protective zone, but only Li Mingyuan remained in the cockpit, directly controlling this violent energy through the neural link.
At this moment, the emergency elevator door opened, and Department Head Zhang rushed in with a group of Military high-ranking officials.
"What is happening?" an old general with a head of white hair demanded sternly, "The equipment in the entire base is out of control!"
Before he could finish, a blinding blue light shot out from Chiyou's "eye," illuminating the entire workshop. Immediately after, the massive steel body slowly turned to face the elevator entrance. The red light of the cyclopean sensor swept across everyone's faces, as if performing some kind of identification.
Everyone stood frozen in place, stunned into silence by this behemoth. It was too large, so large that humans appeared so insignificant before it; it was too alien, like a creature from another dimension; it was too powerful, just standing there, it exuded a suffocating pressure.
The pipe in the old general's hand fell to the ground with a "clatter" and shattered, but no one cared. Everyone's gaze was locked firmly on the steel giant standing in the center of the workshop, like a mythical demon god.
Chiyou's single eye flickered, seemingly conveying some meaning to them, and then, a low, metallic-textured voice emanated from within its body:
"Doomsday Mecha Chiyou, system initialization complete."
