Chapter 100: Going Mad
Going Mad
The icy mask touched her forehead, then the lips touched a feeling as soft as cotton clouds.
The pale gold eyes seemed able to see through her heart; all her doubts and distrust, trust was too heavy for her.
She raised her hand and touched it, the newly grown golden ear-feathers behind the sentinel's ear, soft and tough, like the feel of his wings.
Xiguang seemed only wanting to soothe her, his lips brushed close then parted, he lowered his eyes, as if restraining himself.
Lan'an's brows were tightly knotted, irritable, killing intent surged in his chest, the forced mating season made him constantly feel uneasy.
If not for his remaining reason and worry for Wang's condition, he would have loved to start a duel with the sentinel before him.
Even if his bones itched and every pore screamed to possess Wang alone, with killing intent surging, he could do nothing.
Because Wang would never allow it.
Wang despised bloodshed, despised betrayal, and would not allow them to slaughter each other over ridiculous possessiveness.
"You are not a beast, control your own actions." Wang's words were icy and firm; no matter how his hands twitched, he would restrain himself.
But it's so unpleasant, acid rising in his stomach; why can he kiss Wang?
If looks could kill, Xiguang would have ceased to exist long ago.
Fu Guang used her fingertip to press the silver-haired sentinel's mask back onto his nose bridge.
She opened her mouth; looking closely, one could see the girl's face flicker with ferocity, a hint of baring teeth, she first spat out a bubble, her voice listless as she said, then said, "Don't think about those random things in my mind."
The mental link made every thought fully exposed, minute, lingering, endless sourness, and the vigorous, ever-richer killing intent flowed from the sentinel's mental power to her.
Fu Guang herself felt the sentinel's sourness and killing intent, for a moment making her gums itch; she felt her condition was fine, she didn't need mental power, and cleanly severed the mental links of several people.
Emotion was like a dark cloud pressing straight down on her head, then the cloud poured rain, making her, beneath that cloud, become damp and gloomy.
"Little Fish." At the instant Lan'an's mental link broke, he incredulously lifted his eyes to the girl, his heart clenched by a giant hand, making him momentarily breathless, unable to catch his breath for a while.
His blue-red eyes held a thousand emotions as they gazed at her, as if she had in an instant committed unforgivable sins, about to drive him mad.
Fu Guang quickly said, "Just temporarily no need for mental power."
Lan'an struggled to read the girl's expression, judging whether she was deceiving him; after a while he gave up and swam to behind her.
Sharp nails popped the blister, hands crossed like a crucifix on the girl's chest, forehead resting on her, atop hair flowing like molten gold.
"I just care about you too much." Lan'an said in a muffled voice, his blue-red eyes unusually calming, yet with a feeling of going mad.
Xiguang placed the golden fish tail on his leg, lowered his head, one hand restrained the tail, the other hand brushed over the gold-silk-like fin, then touched the tiny scales at the tail's end.
It was itchy; Fu Guang's fish tail twitched involuntarily, she was not yet familiar with this tail, which is a merfolk's weapon and also very agile.
How does it feel a bit dangerous?
Fu Guang's intuition was stretched to its limit, yet both of their mental fluctuations remained calm, with little variation.
The girl's face was nearly expressionless, only after a half-beat did she realize this was a hunt aimed at her.
If the prey is too cunning, even the eager hunter will cooperate; Lan'an sighed in his heart.
This is a hunt without glances, without communication, even subconscious, yet it is precisely the males' mutual understanding; to win the gaze of their beloved, they use any means, and this is only the beginning.
Lan'an lightly kissed the girl's ear fin, his eyes swirling with desire.
However, the bond between guide and sentinel meant the decision power ultimately lay with the guide; the sentinel was merely the guide's blade, though even a blade needs affection.
The ear fin itched; Fu Guang waited a moment, then blinked as if just realizing.
Deep in her heart, that rebellious streak poked its head out again—just like this, just like this.
However, Fu Guang had long sealed her mental landscape; this thought hadn't been transmitted through it, better not to add fuel to the fire.
If she could run about lively, she certainly wouldn't mind stirring things up, but for now it's better to just think and let it go.
Fu Guang stared at her own thoughts, wondering how long it had been since she last had such thoughts.
She thought, if she had achieved mastery in cultivation, her move would likely be to coldly flick her sleeve, have those who offended her thrown into a deep prison, then turn and walk away coolly.
Thoughts? Probably none, or perhaps she'd feel that the fearless are growing more numerous, leaving no trace in her mind.
Fu Guang chuckled, feeling somewhat happy; she grabbed Lan'an's hand and gave it a light tug, his clasped hands came apart at the pull, and he looked askance at the girl's eyes from the side.
Eyes are the second mirror showing one's spirit; only by looking at the eyes can he discern the thoughts of the girl who always buries all her musings deep in her heart.
Fu Guang turned her head to meet his gaze, seized his arm and pulled him close.
Lan'an looked at the familiar face that had suddenly softened, drawing nearer; just by observing Fu Guang's state, without needing to analyze her actions or gaze, he could tell her mood was excellent.
Formerly, to him, the blue-gold eyes like the suspended sword of Damocles now, for an instant, seemed to become the surface of a newly born spring, shimmering with rippling light.
His lips touched an extremely soft sensation for an instant; after the sensation faded, that familiar exotic fragrance lingered, surrounding his mouth and nose, leaving him frozen in place.
The girl turned her head happily, looking at the silver-haired sentinel kneeling on one knee, she reached forward to pinch the lower half of Xiguang's mask, leaned in and lightly pressed a kiss onto his jade-white mask.
Xiguang blinked in surprise, his distinct-knuckled hand lightly touched the visor, wanting to remove the mask.
He followed his inner thought, also wanting a genuine kiss.
Fu Guang reached out to press his hand, curled the corners of her mouth, looking at him with a soft smile; Xiguang's brain, which still retained a little reason, suddenly felt wronged for no reason.
His pale gold eyes stared at the girl for a while; seeing he had no chance, he stiffly lowered his hand.
Fu Guang had not been happy for even two moments when she felt her throat itch; she coughed once, and from Lan'an's blue, watery eyes she saw the sight of blood at the corner of her mouth.
Ha, she didn't really want to drive the sentinel mad.
