Chapter 11: Bai Gao
Bai Gao
Fu Guang drew back the bed curtains; blazing sunlight poured into the room, and the shadow behind her stretched out long.
She closed her eyes to enjoy the warm sunlight for a while, then slowly went downstairs.
This villa is the center of S-rank Sentinels' residence, boasting the best training facilities, and all other amenities are top-notch.
For example, the mental power nurturing chamber.
But these good facilities require points: fifty points for fifteen minutes.
The chief Sentinel doesn't care about these, but a penniless Guide does.
At Alliance University, there are only a few ways to earn points: fight on the battlefield, grind records, kill alien beasts.
Now she has come to pioneer a new way to earn points: selling potions.
Fu Guang looked up her post on the Star Network: one bottle of Relief Agent costs twenty points, useful for those below B-rank.
The military doesn't oversee Relief Agents below B-rank, which gives Fu Guang room to maneuver; she originally also wanted to produce some restorative potions, but after seeing Sentinels fight, she abandoned that idea.
They are warriors born for battle, with extremely strong regenerative ability; fortunately she also discovered this trait in herself.
Perhaps because she is water-affiliated, innately healing, her wounds recover faster than ordinary people's.
Ding.
The interface received a new message.
"One bottle of potion, deliver to B235 Dormitory." The sender had a blank avatar, no small talk, straight to the point.
"Pay half first, upon delivery the Light Brain will automatically pay the other half, okay?"
Seeing that the other party said that, Fu Guang naturally had no problem.
"No problem, I'll ship it right away."
The two individuals with blank avatars sealed a deal in less than three minutes of conversation.
Rare trust.
Fu Guang was very pleased with this auspicious start, and she also threw in a small gift—a bottle of unsellable Coagulant.
Fu Guang handed the two potions to the robot, then planned to go to the solo combat report.
This class is extremely rare, only one session per week, no more than thirty sessions per semester.
She changed into exercise-friendly clothes, tightened her cuffs, and prepared herself for a beating today.
Fighting isn't always a process of getting beaten first then hitting back; she adeptly consoled herself.
To be able to flee at a moment's notice when facing unsolvable difficulties later, she must never let her guard down.
After checking her protective gear, she opened her Light Brain and hailed a hovercar, only to find the hovercar stop outside the Sentinels' residence.
"Because S-rank Sentinels can all fly, other Sentinels below S-rank need to train, so the residential area doesn't need this feature." Bai Gao followed Fu Guang's words.
As expected, Fu Guang once again saw the ponytail boy.
"Sister." His silver eyes sparkled like a star, his purple hair tied as usual in a high ponytail.
"You said you'd tell me your name next time we meet."
"Fu Guang."
"Is that the Fu Guang meaning 'sun' in ancient language?" Bai Gao asked seemingly offhand.
"Yes." Fu Guang continued forward.
"Sister, you haven't asked my name yet."
The broad-shouldered, narrow-waisted boy half-crouched before her, revealing a lovely collarbone, his peach-blossom eyes flickering like a puppy about to be abandoned.
Fu Guang had to stop, facing the boy who "coincidentally" appeared the moment she stepped out.
The boy had an androgynously beautiful face; when his peach-blossom eyes gazed at you, it felt as if you were his entire world.
"Bai Gao."
"Huh?"
"I'm going to be late." The Light Brain showed it was almost nine; the assembly time was nine forty-five, and she was about to be late.
At the S-rank Training Ground, few people showed up today; S-rank Sentinels under fifty are already rare, and being S-rank, each has their own combat routine.
Besides SS-rank, who could teach them anything? Unless they want to pick a fight, otherwise going on missions to earn points isn't bad, right?
As for those who came, hearing that a new transfer student had arrived, they intended to admire the young lady and young master's looks, then beat them up.
For no other reason, just for the Sentinels' "tradition."
A man wore a tank top, his muscles bulging, the tank top couldn't contain his swollen physique.
"I don't know if that weakling can withstand my punch."
"Weakling" Fu Guang was being carried on the boy's back as they ran; scenery flew past her peripheral vision, the boy's muscles beneath her palms thin yet taut, and in just a few minutes Bai Gao had run nearly sixty thousand meters.
"Ugh." Fu Guang's face turned deathly pale, she clung to a nearby tree, retching nonstop, crystal-clear tears glimmering in her eyes.
Ugh.
Bai Gao must hold a grudge against her.
Bai Gao scratched his head; he knew Guides were fragile, but he hadn't used his full strength either.
Her head ached, Fu Guang struggled to stand, her calves trembling; she suddenly felt her decision to enroll in solo combat was mistaken, but as a D-rank she should be able to hold out, right...
"Fu Guang, are you alright?" Bai Gao stepped forward, his eyes showing undisguised concern.
Surely he wouldn't have killed the Guide on the first day, would he?
"The hovercar's here." Fu Guang patted his arm; she had meant to pat his shoulder, but Sentinels' innate height made them all too tall.
She woozily thought, she also wanted to grow tall, then go back and brew potions.
Bai Gao sat beside her; the blonde girl leaned pale against the window, her blue eyes half-closed, fragile as a piece of glass.
She must be angry.
"Is sister angry at me?" Bai Gao looked nervously at Fu Guang, the memory echoing "It's all your fault, if it weren't for you, ……" his father's loud curses filled his ears.
Fu Guang didn't even open her eyes, softly saying, "No, it's just that I'm too weak."
She didn't see a streak of light flash across Bai Gao's eyes; his hand trembled slightly, then soon calmed, his silver pupils flickering.
It wasn't his fault to begin with.
"Where is sister going?"
"D-rank training ground."
"Sister, do you know any Sentinels? I remember the D-rank training ground wasn't open today."
Bai Gao probed covertly, dangerously thinking, who got there first?
Hearing Bai Gao's words, Fu Guang opened her light-brain to check, not knowing when her solo combat had become S-rank.
She felt her head hurt even more, what a joke.
She was going to train, not to seek death.
Bai Gao saw Fu Guang's listless expression and leaned over to look at the information on her light-brain, which clearly read: Solo combat S-rank, Fu Guang.
He rarely had his brain pause, "Sister, is there a system error?"
"I hope so too." Fu Guang rubbed her forehead and sat upright.
"Where should I go to change the course information?" she asked Bai Gao, otherwise she couldn't get a student ID and then drop all the courses—what would be the point of getting the student ID?
Bai Gao thought for a long time; no one in the whole school had ever heard of dropping a course, and even if it was difficult he'd have to crawl there, otherwise there'd be no point in staying at the school.
"S-rank training ground has arrived." the hovercraft announced the destination.
The two didn't need to think further and got out of the vehicle first.
The S-rank training ground was extremely spacious, only two stories high, to prevent the Sentinels from being unsatisfied with the materials; the materials were all special, specially supplied by the military.
The Sentinels gathered at the entrance had long heard the hovercraft's sound, waiting early at the door to give the "weak chicken" a surprise.
As a result, they gained a surprise.
"Guide?"
