Chapter 12: Coma
Coma
The man in a vest, his muscles bulging, vigorously rubbed his eyes; he slapped his thigh, and a clear sound reverberated, accompanied by his loud voice.
"Damn, it's actually a Guide."
The sound made Fu Guang's ears buzz; the sound wave that had little effect on the other Sentinels was like a sonic attack on her, as if a hammer had fallen on her head.
Her brain hadn't yet recovered; she blinked and looked at those S-rank Sentinels, only feeling the world spin, seeing double, staggering two steps, and finally couldn't help but faint with her eyes rolling back.
As she fell, the man with green eyes who had been silently observing her rushed over, his hand wearing a black leather glove resting on her shoulder, his thumb bearing a lustrous black ring.
A fresh yet bitter scent of grass surrounded him.
Sheng Lai Ke Si's speed was always the fastest among everyone, and because he constantly paid attention to the Guide, he managed to get ahead of everyone.
He held the girl in his arms, his hand placed behind her back, the girl's slender figure pressed against the close-fitting soft armor, a flush spreading across her delicate face.
"The Guide fainted." Bai Gao slightly opened his mouth and murmured.
Several S-rank Sentinels' eyes twitched, as if they had just reacted, and they all threw a punch at the vest-wearing man from the beginning.
"Idiot, what are you shouting for?"
"What to do, what to do."
"Send him to the treatment room, what else can we do, idiot."
"Brother Lang, let me try." Bai Gao stepped forward two steps, eyes eager, resenting his own slowness, wondering why Lang, with such a cold demeanor, cared so much about the Guide.
Sheng Lai Ke Si carefully observed the Guide's heartbeat frequency and blood flow speed, judging that the Guide had merely fainted temporarily and would wake soon.
With so many S-rank Sentinels here, the Guide's keen mental power might have felt oppressed; changing locations would help.
He withdrew his hand pressing on the Guide's neck, lifted the girl in a waist embrace, soft and light, like a bird's feather.
Sheng Lai Ke Si's fingers moved slightly, placing them at Fu Guang's waist, holding her with a force that wouldn't let feathers drift away nor hurt her.
His pointed ears were red all the way through, hidden in his blond hair, but everyone was focused on the Guide, so no one noticed his embarrassment.
He quietly stated the fact: "Bai Gao, your speed isn't as fast as mine."
Bai Gao ground his teeth, gave a white eye to the colleagues fighting nearby, a bunch of idiots, unaware that the treasures had been snatched away.
Cyan airflow surrounded Sheng Lai Ke Si, condensing behind him into a pair of cyan wings; Sheng Lai Ke Si buried the girl deeper into his embrace.
Cyan mental power protected the Guide; as the wings trembled, just as he was about to rush out, his brow twitched, he lowered his head, and the cyan mental power dissipated with the wind.
When Fu Guang woke, everything before her eyes was pitch black; she thought it was because it was dark and the lights weren't on, but when bodily sensations came, her body tensed.
Huh? Why is she pillowing on a warm, soft body with a heart thumping?
She pursed her lips; below her lips was a feel like soft armor that should be cold but was warm.
She must be in someone's arms.
She fainted, then what?
A slit of light appeared and gradually filled Fu Guang's pupils; she slightly stepped back, golden hairs of the same color as hers lifted from her body, a hand at her shoulder blades gently restrained her to prevent her from falling.
It was that green-eyed man.
High nose bridge, deep-set eyes, pointed ears only showing a tip from his blond hair, giving a strong exotic feel.
As the Guide woke, the crowd engaged in group fighting scattered, and Fu Guang pretended not to hear the crackling of bones.
"Hello, Guide Fu Guang, I am Sheng Lai Ke Si; you can also call me by my other name, Lang."
"Lang?" It's like a code name; few people refer to themselves with a single character.
"Yes."
The other Sentinels also crowded over, introducing themselves one after another; to Fu Guang it sounded like a flock of sparrows chirping.
Seeing the Guide's slender brows slightly furrow, Sheng Lai Ke Si released cyan ripples around himself, pushing all the Sentinels back to three meters away from the Guide.
"The Guide just woke up; she needs rest."
Fu Guang also timely closed her eyelids, showing her weak state needing rest.
Sheng Lai Ke Si had been S-rank since arriving at Alliance University; the Sentinels are extremely exclusivist and belligerent, to the point that every Sentinel present has been beaten by him.
Now that he has spoken, the Guide indeed appears to need rest, so no one argues with him.
Fu Guang walked into the training field, with several Sentinels of strong aura trailing behind her.
Because of the initial incident, the Sentinels' gazes at the Guide carried a hint of restraint, yet also a touch of teasing.
A D-rank Guide is nothing to them.
S-rank Sentinels need at least an A-rank Guide to mediate, but they are still somewhat interested in this newcomer, the poor little thing.
After all, meat brought to the mouth—if not eaten, are they still Sentinels?
D-rank is indeed too low; if it were higher, it could also serve as a deep linker.
Someone sighed, thinking that aside from rank, this Guide is excellent in every way—a shame.
Fu Guang lowered her long eyelashes; the Sentinels still dared not openly be too presumptuous toward the Guide, even if they were S-rank.
The viscous gazes behind followed her like a shadow, the look of superiors looking down on inferiors, the gaze toward something in one's pocket.
At the same time, she realized the Sentinels were accustomed to everyone being thick-skinned and tough, usually having no restraint, making it highly likely they would accidentally injure her.
Her fragile type gets injured at the slightest contact.
The White Tower Regulations also stipulate that if a Sentinel unintentionally injures a Guide, they can obtain the Guide's forgiveness to reduce punishment.
In this regard, the Sentinels have much more leeway.
A message came on the light brain: the ten points earned after turning in the goods have already been credited.
A glint flashed in her eyes as she softly asked Bai Gao beside her, "Is the training field here the same as the one in the dormitory?"
"Here it's certainly more complete than the dormitory; the dormitory can't support some equipment operation, and points spent are also fewer."
Fu Guang nodded; restoring her strength is urgent.
Otherwise, who knows when she'll go through a life-and-death trial, then have a hero save the beauty, and she'd truly be passive.
"By the way, is the battlefield drill a real drill?" The blonde-haired girl looked full of curiosity, extremely cute; Bai Gao felt his heart swell for a moment, and he answered without reservation.
"There are both real and virtual; the real requires queuing, the virtual is extremely fast."
Bai Gao's silver eyes flickered, "Want to give it a try?"
"Can I also?"
"Cough." Sheng Lai Ke Si gave a light cough, his eyes showing some disapproval.
The system has never been linked to a guide's spiritual power; if something goes wrong, what will happen to the guide?
The lounge was on the second floor; Fu Guang had just stepped onto the last step when, sensing something, she lifted her gaze toward the corridor—a ball of burning flame came rushing at extreme speed, the air around her distorting.
Bai Gao and Sheng Lai Ke Si stood behind Fu Guang, separated by a person's width; Sheng Lai Ke Si wanted to intervene, but Bai Gao blocked him.
The purple-haired youth gave a glance to Sheng Lai Ke Si.
