65 Forced Entry

Zhang Xiaoxiao revealed her secret but did not tell the whole story; she also hoped Huang Cheng would make a concession, at least allowing her to communicate with him face-to-face, and after a moment of contemplation, Huang Cheng chose to agree.

After finishing the call and returning the phone to the big-faced Enforcer, Zhang Xiaoxiao expressed her gratitude to him: "Thank you, I still don't know how to address you."

"No need for formalities, my name is Qin Hai, and I can be considered to have a life-and-death friendship with Captain Huang. If it's his business, I will help out to some extent," Qin Hai smiled slightly, put the phone back into his pocket, and asked with a smile, "How did the talk go?"

"Um... it's already settled, so I'll be going now. Goodbye, Comrade Enforcer Qin." Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded and turned to leave.

Qin Hai smiled and waved goodbye, his hollow eyes fixed on that youthful and beautiful silhouette as it slowly disappeared from his field of vision on his stiff smile. He bared his white teeth, and while opening his phone to play the recording, he made a strange low sound in his throat, muttering to himself: "What kind of discovery could it be that made it necessary to contact the Xuanmi Group? Old Huang is someone who is under heavy scrutiny..."

Playing back the recording, Qin Hai nodded while digesting the information from it.

When he heard the sentence, "I have discovered documentary evidence regarding the forces behind the female assassin," Qin Hai's gaze instantly became sinister and cold. He gnashed his teeth, causing his teeth to make a creaking sound, as if he were gnawing on something.

When Xin Junmao ran all the way to within one street of the Citizen Sports Center, he had to stop in his tracks, simply because the street ahead had been blocked off by barriers, and there were several Enforcers guarding the entrance; whenever someone tried to approach, those Enforcers would drive them away.

Xin Junmao bit the bullet and gritted his teeth as he stepped forward; sure enough, the Enforcers patrolling the street had noticed him early on.

"What are you doing? Didn't you see the sign saying 'Danger Ahead' and that you can't approach?" An Enforcer saw Xin Junmao and immediately shouted to stop him.

Xin Junmao shrank his neck slightly and said, "I... I have something to do inside, I need to find someone."

"Find who? There's no one inside right now." The Enforcer was so amused by this that he laughed; he waved his hand, urging Xin Junmao to leave quickly.

Xin Junmao took a deep breath: "No, there is someone inside. I know the purpose of sealing this place off. The people from the Xuanmi Group are working inside, right? I need to find the Xuanmi Group."

However, this Enforcer seemed unaware of the Xuanmi Group; these Enforcers sent to patrol around the sealed area actually only knew the tasks they were executing and were completely ignorant of the truth behind the sealed area.

The Enforcer frowned and said displeasedly: "What Xuanmi Group? Have you been reading too many novels? Now I will reiterate solemnly: we are currently screening the area for dangerous items. It is very dangerous ahead, and citizens are temporarily prohibited from entering, so sir, please leave."

"I know what that dangerous item is!" Xin Junmao shouted loudly. He didn't know what kind of sudden inspiration had struck him, but seeing the Enforcers, who were looking serious and intending to surround him, he tensed his toes against the ground. "I really know, it's... it's a time bomb, right underground. Let me in to cooperate with the people investigating inside, and we can find that 'time bomb' faster."

Although this was a terrible idea, Xin Junmao had no other way for the moment. When he saw the Enforcers slowly closing in to surround him, he felt he was incredibly clever, thinking, if he did this, would he be able to sneak in successfully?

However, the next moment, the Enforcers from all directions suddenly erupted and lunged at him.

"Catch this kid, don't let him run, take him back to the Safety Bureau!" an Enforcer shouted while lunging toward Xin Junmao.

Hearing the Enforcer's shout, Xin Junmao was stunned, then his expression changed wildly, and he turned and ran.

After narrowly avoiding the lunges of two Enforcers, Xin Junmao was still tackled by a young Enforcer who grabbed his waist and threw him to the ground.

"Well done! Take him back to the Safety Bureau just like that!" The other few Enforcers lunged forward one after another, locking Xin Junmao's other limbs so that he could not move.

Xin Junmao was on the verge of tears; reality was still running counter to his ideas, and his heart was filled with dejection.

But just as Xin Junmao was about to give up, he suddenly felt his whole body lighten, and all the weight and force pressing down on him vanished at once. He looked up and saw those Enforcers already flying high and far away, as if they had been knocked away by an invisible force.

"Comb?!" Xin Junmao felt the commotion in his pocket, his eyes lighting up, thinking that the wish he had made at the cost of a price had not been in vain.

He seized the opportunity to crawl up, rushed out of the street, and used his long legs to sprint across the lawn. He intended to cross the flower beds and shrubbery by the roadside to take a shortcut into the Citizen Sports Center.

While hearing the shouts of the Enforcers chasing him from all directions, Xin Junmao thought with tears in his eyes that his persistence in long-distance running for exercise while unemployed had not been in vain; now it was finally time for it to be put to use.

"Damn it, that kid runs really fast!"

"Catch him!"

"Don't let him get in!"

"..."

Listening to the "heroic words" of the Enforcer uncles, Xin Junmao ran even faster, as if being chased by a flood or a wild beast, erupting with his life's potential.

Ten minutes later, with his heart beating violently, Xin Junmao rushed into the Citizen Sports Center and headed straight for the back door of the Gymnasium.

Just as he was about to run into the perimeter of the Gymnasium, several older Enforcers immediately called for the others to stop the chase. Everyone stood there panting, watching Xin Junmao's desperate, sprinting figure.

"Why aren't we chasing?" The Enforcer who had first stopped Xin Junmao couldn't help but ask the older Enforcer beside him who had just called for the stop.

Hearing this, the older Enforcer panted while putting on a serious and solemn expression, "Going any further is not a realm we can step into, and we don't need to be afraid; there are others inside who will stop him."

"But he said there was a bomb." The young Enforcer couldn't help but retort, his eyes full of worry.

The older Enforcer's eyes changed slightly, and he muttered, "A bomb, huh? That's quite fitting."

Xin Junmao was too excited, and coupled with the life-and-death speed race against those Enforcers who were all track athletes, he was too nervous to even look back to see how many Enforcers were chasing him, and thus did not notice the fact that those Enforcers had already given up the chase.

Instead, he anxiously opened the manhole cover and quickly climbed down the rusty ladder.

While climbing down rapidly, Xin Junmao also swallowed his saliva in trepidation.

Thanks to this pair of "eyes" he had now, beneath the dark sewer where he could not see, it was pitch black, and tube-like objects covered in slimy liquid were spread throughout the underground.

Upon landing, Xin Junmao felt unstable underfoot, as if he had arrived inside the digestive system of a giant monster.
