Chapter 31: Mo Limeng

~11 min read 2,073 words

As time passed, more and more powerful beings arrived here.

The Primordial Ancestor’s divine force avatar, the Lord of Chaos City, Zhen Yan, and others all arrived. The birth of a Void True God was a momentous event in the Primordial Universe, drawing countless observers.

“Luo Feng.” Hong and Lei Shen also arrived aboard their secret treasures.

“Big brother, second brother.” Luo Feng smiled and nodded; the three of them had walked together since Earth, their bond unlike any other.

“Once Master Zuoshan breaks through, he’ll enter the Cycle, won’t he?” Hong said. He himself was a True God, and Luo Feng had already warned them: even if they felt ready to break through, they must not rush—they must first consult with Luo Feng and the Primordial Ancestor before deciding when to transcend.

Luo Feng gazed into the distance: “Yes. Within one year after breaking through, he must enter the Cycle.”

“Brother.” Luo Hua arrived with their father Luo Hongguo and mother Gong Xinlan, escorted by Ximo.

“Master Zuoshan is your teacher; he’s about to enter the Cycle, so we naturally had to come,” Luo Hongguo said. That Zuoshan was Luo Feng’s teacher was already common knowledge across the Primordial Universe.

Luo Feng nodded slightly and continued watching the expanding miniature universe.

The expansion of the miniature universe lasted over a month, finally halting at a diameter of seven point two billion light-years.

“Huh.”

An old man’s figure flew out of the miniature universe—it was Zuoshan.

Luo Feng stepped forward alone to meet him.

“Teacher.” Luo Feng flew close.

“I’ve stayed in the Primordial Universe long enough. It’s time to return,” Zuoshan sighed. Though he had lived here for over a cycle era, this place was never his homeland.

“Are you entering the Cycle now?” Luo Feng looked at Zuoshan.

Zuoshan nodded: “Now.”

“How will we meet again?” Luo Feng asked.

After reaching the Origin Continent, his teacher would reincarnate, and his divine force avatar in the Primordial Universe would dissolve—meeting again would be nearly impossible.

“When the time comes, we’ll meet again,” Zuoshan smiled at his disciple. “My greatest achievement in over a cycle era here is having you as my student.”

“An average disciple relies entirely on the master’s guidance. But a truly brilliant disciple needs only a push from the master,” Zuoshan said, looking at Luo Feng. “How far you go depends entirely on yourself.”

Luo Feng nodded.

“Remember, don’t rush,” Zuoshan warned. “When you’re strong enough, avenging me will come naturally. If you’re not strong enough and force yourself into it, you’ll only die.”

“I understand. I have patience,” Luo Feng nodded.

Zuoshan nodded: “I’m entering the Cycle now. No need to see me off!”

With that, Zuoshan gave a slight nod to the many powerful beings in the distance, then flew toward the Cycle Passage of Qinfeng Realm.

Luo Feng watched from afar.

……

As planned, after Master Zuoshan entered the Cycle and reached the Origin Continent, he quickly activated his reincarnation technique and was reborn as a native lifeform of the Origin Continent.

“Luo Feng.” The Lord of Chaos City swiftly arrived.

“Teacher.” Luo Feng greeted him. He had grown from Earth, and these three teachers—Zhen Yan, the Lord of Chaos City, and Zuoshan—had all given him immense help, and he deeply respected them.

“Master Zuoshan’s miniature universe is collapsing!” the Lord of Chaos City said anxiously.

Luo Feng nodded.

“He’s your teacher. Aren’t you worried?” the Lord of Chaos City asked, puzzled. “And you’ve told all the human True Gods that if you break through to True God realm before entering the Cycle, success is guaranteed. So why did Zuoshan die?”

The Lord of Chaos City had no close ties with Zuoshan, but he had devoted his entire life to the human race, so he naturally worried about the future safety of so many human True Gods.

“Master Zuoshan succeeded in entering the Cycle,” Luo Feng said. “He died after succeeding.”

The Lord of Chaos City looked confused: “Died after succeeding?”

“The Supreme Rule forbids me from explaining,” Luo Feng said.

“I understand,” the Lord of Chaos City nodded. He knew this well.

Both the Primordial Ancestor and Luo Feng had entered the Cycle—one was his master, the other his disciple. He understood the limits of the Supreme Rule.

“As long as breaking through to True God realm ensures safe passage through the Cycle, that’s enough,” the Lord of Chaos City nodded. “As for Zuoshan…”

“You’ll know someday, Teacher,” Luo Feng said.

Origin Continent, Yu State, Huyang City.

“Boom—!”

The door to the underground hall of the cultivation cave opened—Luo Feng emerged from seclusion.

“Master.” Mo Luo Sa shot forward to greet him; Mo Yu Qingyan also hurried over from afar.

“Hmm.” Luo Feng nodded to them, then stepped lightly and appeared atop a distant mountain, sitting on a large rock, drinking alone.

This scene left Mo Luo Sa and Mo Yu Qingyan exchanging glances.

“You go on with your duties,” Mo Luo Sa ordered Mo Yu Qingyan, then quietly flew close to Luo Feng, grinning sheepishly.

“Master, what’s wrong? You seem unhappy?” Mo Luo Sa asked.

“I’m not unhappy.”

Luo Feng shook his head slightly. His teacher’s reincarnation was preparation for revenge, and his teacher’s greatest hope for vengeance clearly lay in this disciple. The Shiguo had invaded and survived for so long—it must be powerful. Taking down its rulers… would not be easy. Luo Feng naturally felt some pressure.

“Not unhappy?” Mo Luo Sa studied Luo Feng.

“I’m thinking about several great enemies,” Luo Feng said.

“Your enemies? Several?” Mo Luo Sa asked. “Who? Do you need my help?”

Seeing Mo Luo Sa, Luo Feng’s mood eased.

He needed to hone his will, cultivate secret techniques, and comprehend the Laws—step by steady step. But Mo Luo Sa, by simply eating, drinking, and absorbing energy, would naturally grow strong enough to overlook the Shiguo.

“If I need your help, I’ll say so,” Luo Feng said. “I think I can handle them myself.”

“Leave the corpses to me!” Mo Luo Sa quickly added.

Luo Feng smiled: “Don’t worry.” “By the way, Mo Limeng passed a message through Mo Yu Qingyan—he wants to visit you,” Mo Luo Sa said.

“He passed a message through Qingyan?” Luo Feng was surprised.

“I heard Mo Yu Hu, Mo Yu Qingyan’s father, has been recruited into the City Lord’s office—he’s now an official there,” Mo Luo Sa chuckled.

Luo Feng held genuine fondness for Mo Yu Hu, the first being he met upon arriving on the Origin Continent. Mo Yu Hu was willing to sacrifice everything for his three children. For that alone, Luo Feng admired him.

“Let Mo Limeng come,” Luo Feng said.

“Yes, I’ll arrange it immediately,” Mo Luo Sa departed swiftly.

Since the Mo family’s cave residence lay within the Chaos Clan district, Mo Limeng arrived with Diao Rongqi within moments.

“Luohe Shenjun,” Mo Limeng greeted warmly.

“Your Excellency,” Diao Rongqi’s eyes filled with tears as she immediately knelt. “Thank you, Your Excellency, for avenging my father and the countless souls of the Diao family.”

“Please sit,” Luo Feng, already seated, said.

!.

Mo Limeng sat across from Luo Feng; Diao Rongqi sat beside him.

“I am Mo Limeng, fortunate enough to serve as Deputy City Lord of Huyang,” Mo Limeng smiled. “I heard of your slaying of the Blood Serpent Guild Master—I hold you in the highest admiration, and have come to pay my respects.”

Major affairs of the City Lord’s office were decided collectively by the five great families; Mo Limeng represented the Mo family and also served as Deputy City Lord.

“It was nothing,” Luo Feng said.

“To you it’s nothing, but to our City Lord’s office, it’s not,” Mo Limeng shook his head. “Dark forces on the Origin Continent can never be fully eradicated. We can only try to restrain them—we cannot eliminate them entirely. If we deny them even scraps, they’ll tear off all masks and slaughter and plunder wildly.”

“Maintaining order is not easy,” Luo Feng nodded.

He possessed vast intelligence from the Jin God King lineage and the Duan Donghe lineage—he knew how insane some terrifying beings were. When they slaughtered and plundered, weak True Gods had no chance to resist.

The City Lord’s office maintained balance by forcibly restraining dark forces while offering them scraps. This was already the paradise weak True Gods longed for.

“True Gods’ residences are absolutely safe! During daylight hours, and even in bustling night districts, we strictly forbid dark forces from acting,” Mo Limeng said. “But if you wander into remote, dark places and get killed, we can’t help you.”

“We leave them a thread—otherwise, they’ll flee to the Shiguo’s side,” Mo Limeng shook his head. “The Shiguo is Huyang City’s greatest root of evil.”

Luo Feng listened.

“Rongqi, leave,” Mo Limeng glanced at Diao Rongqi beside him. She looked gratefully at Luo Feng, bowed respectfully, and withdrew.

“Luohe Brother,” Mo Limeng whispered. “I’d like to ask—would you be willing to kill the Shiguo’s leader, ‘Xueyun,’ for the City Lord’s office reward?”

“I heard Xueyun, the Shiguo’s leader, has clashed repeatedly with the City Lord’s office. Even when the entire Huyang City array was activated and General Mo Liao himself intervened, they still couldn’t touch him?” Luo Feng said.

In Huyang City, the City Lord’s office held the advantage of terrain.

Yet Xueyun still roamed free.

“He’s very strong,” Mo Limeng admitted.

“So if you want me to act, the price must be high,” Luo Feng said.

Mo Limeng was startled.

He actually accepted?

“How much?” Mo Limeng asked.

“Besides the public reward at Yanfeng Guildhall, add five million Cosmic Sands,” Luo Feng said. “I’ll give it a try—I make no guarantees of success. If I fail, I won’t claim the reward.”

Mo Limeng immediately shook his head: “Too high. If the City Lord’s office truly had that much to spare, we’d have publicly offered six million Cosmic Sands at Yanfeng Guildhall—then even terrifying outsiders would come.”

“How much can you offer?” Luo Feng asked.

“The current public reward for Xueyun at Yanfeng Guildhall is one million Cosmic Sands. We can add another one million,” Mo Limeng said, watching Luo Feng.

Luo Feng shook his head: “Too little.”

“Luohe Brother, if you’re interested, I’ll try to find a way—but five million Cosmic Sands is impossible,” Mo Limeng said.

“First, find Xueyun yourselves,” Luo Feng said no more. Before killing the Blood Serpent Guild Master, Luo Feng had already wanted to deal with Xueyun. But the greatest problem… was finding him.

Mo Limeng nodded: “He hides carefully. Once we find him, we’ll contact you.”

“We’ll discuss details then,” Luo Feng replied.

"By the way, Brother Luo He, Blood Python’s chairman likely sent messages to several factions before he died," Mo Li Meng said. "I received one such message."

"Oh? What message did he send before dying?" Luo Feng asked.

Mo Li Meng said: "Brother Luo He, give me a message imprint, and I’ll send you the full message."

Luo Feng also took out his message token, and both left each other message imprints so they could communicate.

"A regular message token?" Mo Li Meng noticed.

Regular message tokens had a slightly larger transmission range than those in Hu Yang City, and even a small cosmic domain could block their signals. Yet the stronger the being, the more likely they were to use such ordinary tokens.

"Here’s the message he sent me," Mo Li Meng immediately sent it to Luo Feng.

Luo Feng glanced at it and laughed: "His mechanical stream artifact is worth 1.5 million cosmic sands? Mine is worth 5 million? How did I not know my mechanical stream artifact was worth that much?"

Mo Li Meng was internally startled—Luo He was openly admitting to possessing a mechanical stream artifact right before him.

Clearly, this Luo He was extremely confident.

"Brother Luo He, you must not be careless," Mo Li Meng warned. "Such immense wealth may attract terrifying outsiders to Hu Yang City to target you."

"Will they believe it?" Luo Feng said.

"There might be some who believe it—and anyone bold enough to act will surely have some backing," Mo Li Meng said.

Luo Feng nodded: "Brother Mo Li, thank you."

Deep inside, Luo Feng actually looked forward to powerful Qiangzhe arriving—he could grow even richer.

Thank you to the new patrons: Tuanyi de Shui, Maokes, Yuan Dazhuang, Wu William.
