Chapter 228: Could Make a Bigger Scene
Yes, when Hu Li Hu makes a scene, the commotion is enormous.
Just imagine: a nine-tailed demon fox the size of a house, its body ablaze with fox-fire, surrounded by a swarm of fox-cannons firing saturation barrages at intervals, while it itself frolics wildly, charging and crashing through the forest, rolling and tearing and biting, its jaws opening wide enough to gouge a half-meter-deep pit straight into the ground; whether a century-old ancient tree or a ten-thousand-year-old stone enters its mouth, there is a crunch, and any charging evil wolf that lunges forward thrashes twice before exploding under her sharp fangs and claws...
Just this one giant white fox, and she's even full, so the destruction she can cause when she starts causing trouble is beyond imagination.
Rolling by herself in the front, she nearly forced a path through sheer force—if not for the endless packs of wolves generated within the Black Forest, Yu Sheng even suspected this Cyber Fox Immortal could have punched her way through this place alone.
But the problem lies in the fact that the wolf packs generated within the Black Forest are endless.
And what Hu Li can solve ultimately is only the monsters around herself.
Fortunately, besides a Cyber Fox Immortal, Yu Sheng also has Little Red Riding Hood's wolf pack.
A real wolf pack.
Countless wolf shadows surged from the shadows; under Little Red Riding Hood's command, they formed a wave-like, alternating, forward-thrusting spearhead, engaging fiercely with the evil wolves constantly running out of the forest. The gap Hu Li opened was quickly consolidated by Little Red Riding Hood's wolf pack, and from there they advanced forward. Even though the enemies were endless, Yu Sheng's group was getting closer and closer to that "Rift."
A massive "evil wolf" roared and fell under the bombardment of three Fox Carrot Missiles, and amidst the rising dust and the Xiong Xiong burning of the eerie fox-fire, Yu Sheng saw that strange Rift standing a few hundred meters ahead—its interior was pitch black, like an empty nightmare, its edges shattered and trembling unstably in the air, contracting and expanding, while some tiny, tentacle-like structures had somehow extended from the Rift's edges, swaying everywhere in the air with a nauseating posture, as if sensing something.
Yu Sheng sensed Anka Ela's presence—and he knew the other party had also "seen" him.
"We're almost there!" he suddenly shouted loudly.
A ground-shaking commotion came from ahead; the giant silver-white demon fox ran toward them, Hu Li knocking away all the evil wolves blocking her way while excitedly wagging her tail: "Benefactor! Am I awesome or what!"
Yu Sheng was momentarily speechless, but still smiled and reached out to stroke Hu Li's chin: "Good, good, good, very awesome!"
Hu Li then looked extremely happy and, frolicking again, charged back into the wolf pack, engaging in a fierce fight with a giant wolf that suddenly appeared, almost the same size as her.
However, just at that moment, a strong sense of unease and oppression suddenly surged from Yu Sheng's heart; he almost immediately raised his head and, following the feeling, looked up at the sky above the Rift.
A shadow covering countless eyes, almost capable of piercing the sky, extended from the top of the Rift; like a majestic overseer, it slowly swept across the sky filled with the twilight glow.
Where this shadow looked down, the forest fire ignited by the fox-fire extinguished instantly, the road plowed through the forest quickly healed, and the killed evil wolves began to revive.
The Wolf Grandmother also appeared; those tall, terrifying figures walked out from the depths of the wolf pack—not just one.
Yu Sheng instantly noticed that the wolf pack summoned by Little Red Riding Hood was retreating; combined with the fading of the fox-fire, the originally stable front line suddenly developed many gaps.
The squirrel held in Erin's arms let out a scream.
"Anka Ela is here!!"
Little Red Riding Hood, riding on a wolf's back, arrived behind Yu Sheng. She struggled to control her fear of the Wolf Grandmother and looked up at the shadow in the sky, her voice inevitably trembling: "Th-that... what is that?!"
"You can see it?" Yu Sheng was somewhat surprised, but he quickly reacted, speaking in a deep voice, "That is Anka Ela... possibly just a part of it."
He paused, took a light breath, and his expression grew grave: "As expected, after approaching this Rift, this thing should personally intervene."
Before his words finished, the surrounding wolf pack launched a new round of attacks, and the shadow slowly sweeping across the sky seemed to "wake up" from some semi-somnambulistic state; it began to slowly lower its altitude, the static emitted from the shadow almost piercing people's heads, the massive hostility as if substantial—and then, the true attack arrived.
The Black Forest began to "come alive."
Those towering giant trees, the lush shrubs, the massive stones in the dense forest, even every inch of soil, every stream, every flower... all began to grow wildly, deform, sprouting limbs that clicked and clacked and countless blinking eyes.
Even Hu Li, not far away, suddenly fell into a bitter struggle.
Anka Ela was tossing and turning, whispering in the nightmare; this "Angel" was redefining this nightmare.
"Yu Sheng! Think of a plan!" Little Red Riding Hood shouted instinctively. When she saw the stone beneath her feet begin to roll and assemble into various terrifying limbs, a scalp-tingling sensation swept over her instantly. "If this continues, we won't be able to win!"
Yu Sheng merely turned his head to look at the small doll on his shoulder: "Erin, it's about time."
"Now?" Erin's eyes widened. "Are you sure? I haven't 'connected' everyone yet..."
"A part will do," Yu Sheng simply said, slowly closing his eyes. "We aren't trying to defeat Anka Ela—we can't. You can't defeat the dreamer within someone else's dream..." As he spoke, he slowly extended his hand forward. Although his eyes were closed, he could clearly "see" the giant shadow in the sky, seeing the "Self-Symbol" cast by the obscure Angel Anka Ela within its own nightmare.
"But we can try to destroy this dream—to the maximum extent, with the highest intensity, destroy the subset structure of the entire 'Fairy Tale' system."
Threads of black silk floated in the air, the cold air penetrating flesh and mind; Yu Sheng felt Erin's voice whispering in his mind: "Fine, fine, if you say it works, then it works..."
The black spider silk, like hair with independent life, spread out from beside Erin, then drilled one by one into Yu Sheng's body, and subsequently extended from Yu Sheng's hands, spreading out toward the entire Black Forest.
Although he had "cooperated" more than once, Yu Sheng still felt an exceptionally cold and eerie sensation when those spider silk threads drilled into his body; especially when he saw Erin's chaotic figure and scarlet eyes in the illusions outlined by the spider silk, this strange and sinister feeling was even harder to suppress.
But Yu Sheng still felt a sense of... familiarity and steadiness from the coldness brought by those spider silk threads. He could feel the small doll striving to cooperate with him, feeling that the other party had unconditionally relinquished control over those spider silk threads, allowing him to weave these threads capable of traversing dreams into a form more familiar to him—such as, a door.
Yu Sheng imagined the appearance of that door.
The principle was similar to the process when he and Erin first cooperated to open the teleportation gate leading to the Black Forest.
But it was incomparably huge.
It was boundless.
It was like a mirror; the entire Black Forest was the scenery within the mirror.
One mistake, one head, one shot, one inside, one content, one in, one look!
It was also very small, very concrete, very... accurately connecting individual stages.
With his eyes closed, Yu Sheng, in a very brief instant, saw the situation on the Shelter Wasteland through Erin's perception—
Those children and "parents" who had fallen into the wasteland after losing in the subsets had been gathered together, circling on the grass.
They seemed to be falling into sleep, each person wrapped in black silk threads.
The threads pierced their dreams, shuttling between all the subsets.
One door after another took shape.
They were the Evil Queen's Magic Mirror, they were the hallways leading to the Eternal Ball, they were the cabin where the mermaid hid when she came ashore, a shop window illuminated by the glow of a match on a cold winter night, the great door of the giant's dwelling seen by Jack when he climbed the beanstalk, the castle entrance deep within the Sleeping Beauty's thorn bushes...
Yu Sheng thought, there was a door there.
A door is a passage from one place to another; originally separated, connected by the door; originally connected, also separated by the door—a door is the superposition of connection and separation.
And he was the Collapser.
Now, the doorknob turned.
Little Red Riding Hood looked at Yu Sheng in shock; she didn't know what had happened, only that countless black silk threads had just spread out from beside Yu Sheng and Erin, and then they stood there motionless.
Every second after that felt as long as a year.
Because the entire Black Forest was rapidly turning into enemies; everything here was coming alive—it was no longer the forest she was familiar with, the one Little Red Riding Hood had walked through when visiting her grandmother.
Then, she heard the sound of that doorknob turning.
She could not see where the door was, but a faint click of a handle turning came from the void; nothing visible opened, yet she distinctly heard the entire "world" groan with a creak.
The towering giant trees nearby rose with a roar, hideous and twisted faces manifesting on their trunks; giant wolves leaped from the bushes, their malicious fangs and claws flashing with blood-red hues. The shadow wolves guarding the perimeter were retreating step by step, even vines and stones were blocking their advance—yet in the next second, all balance was shattered by the sound of something tearing through the sky.
Under the twilight sky, bright flames swept over the forest canopy. Beautiful, firefly-like streams of light fell from the clouds. Little Red Riding Hood widened her eyes, those rapidly expanding fire spots reflected in her pupils. Then she saw the forest ignite; Xiong Xiong flames surged upward, spreading wildly among the awakened giant trees as if possessed of consciousness.
"Bai Lin bombs... matches?!"
Little Red Riding Hood finally recognized something amidst the spreading flames. She cried out in surprise and shock, instinctively looking up toward the heights.
Lei Ting Titan jumped down from the falling giant dragon, clutching an aerial bomb.
