Chapter 25: Not Speaking of Martial Ethics

~8 min read 1,501 words

Jiang Feng looked at Shen Junyao's puffed‑up demeanor and grinned.

"Alright, I'll release your mute acupoint; let's talk properly and stop the trouble."

As he said so, he reached out and lightly pressed a point below Shen Junyao's throat.

Shen Junyao felt she could speak again and immediately started spouting.

"Jiang Feng! You bastard! I will never let you go!"

Though her words were harsh, her gaze had lost its previous hostility and instead carried a hint of insecurity.

Just now, Jiang Feng's bare‑handed breaking of handcuffs and effortless subduing of her had completely shattered her perception of his combat strength; she knew deep down that if a real fight broke out, she was no match for Jiang Feng.

Jiang Feng's expression remained calm as he said lightly, "I can release you and cooperate with you on the police record, but you must promise to investigate the truth afterward instead of insisting I'm the suspect."

Shen Junyao bit her lip, hesitated for a few seconds, then nodded.

"Fine! I agree! As long as you honestly do the police record, I'll find out who hired the assassin!"

Though she was angry at Jiang Feng's earlier actions, her police professionalism remained, knowing she couldn't close the case on personal grudges.

Jiang Feng, seeing her agree, stepped back two paces to give her space and said, "Alright, let's start the police record now."

Shen Junyao rubbed the slightly reddened wrist that had been squeezed earlier, just as she was about to sit back on the chair when a thought suddenly flashed in her mind.

Jiang Feng had been so arrogant just now; if she just let it go, wouldn't that be a loss of face?

She's the goddess detective of the Serious Crime Unit; she'd never suffer such a loss!

So, while Jiang Feng turned to pick up the broken handcuffs on the ground, Shen Junyao suddenly lifted her leg and kicked hard at Jiang Feng's back.

But she still underestimated Jiang Feng's reaction speed.

Just as her foot was about to connect, Jiang Feng's body darted sharply to the side, and Shen Junyao's kick missed entirely.

Losing her balance, she let out an "Ow!" and fell to the ground.

Instinctively she braced with her right foot, and with a "Crunch!" a sharp pain shot through her ankle.

The pain made tears instantly stream down as her voice quivered, "My foot… hurts so much…"

Jiang Feng turned back and laughed, seeing Shen Junyao sitting on the ground, her right ankle swollen, complexion pale, tears rolling down her cheeks.

Seeing Jiang Feng still mocking her, Shen Junyao's frustration boiled over and she collapsed emotionally.

She began wailing loudly.

At this point, Jiang Feng was also a bit at a loss.

He's most afraid in his life of a girl crying.

He immediately walked over, squatted in front of Shen Junyao, and softened his tone, "Don't move, let me look at your foot."

"Don't touch me!"

Shen Junyao sniffed, tried to pull her foot back, but any movement hurt more, so she glared at Jiang Feng plaintively.

"It's all your fault! If you hadn't dodged, I wouldn't have sprained!"

"You attacked me first."

Jiang Feng said helplessly.

"But now's not the time to argue; you have a ligament sprain. If you don't treat it, it'll swell by tomorrow and you won't be able to walk. Let me rub it a couple of times, and the pain will soon disappear."

Shen Junyao still resisted, "I don't want you touching it! I'll go to the hospital myself!"

But as soon as she finished speaking, the ankle pain intensified, and she couldn't help letting out another whimper.

Jiang Feng, regardless of her willingness, reached out and gently grasped her ankle.

His hand was warm; the palm's heat passed through the sock, making Shen Junyao feel the pain lessen.

His fingers lightly pressed several acupoints on the ankle, with little force but great precision.

Yet in less than a minute, Shen Junyao felt the ankle pain fading and the swelling considerably reduced.

She looked at Jiang Feng in surprise, "You… you can also treat injuries?"

"I know a little."

Jiang Feng released his grip, raised an eyebrow and said, "Get up and try, can you walk?"

Shen Junyao carefully stood, tried to walk two steps, and the ankle truly no longer hurt, only a slight soreness remained. She looked at Jiang Feng, feeling a bit conflicted.

This guy may be a bastard, but his medical skill is truly impressive.

As a police officer, Shen Junyao often gets injured; even a sprain of that level would cause several days of pain at a professional hospital.

Yet in his hands, three quick moves resolved it completely.

At that moment, the Interrogation Room door was suddenly pushed open.

From outside came a footstep clatter, accompanied by a middle‑aged voice, "Miss Su, I'm really sorry, I'll arrange it right now…"

Shen Junyao and Jiang Feng both turned, seeing Duan Boyan, director of the Jiangcheng City Defense Office, entering with Su Xueyan.

Both stared at the scene before them, their expressions frozen.

Jiang Feng squatted on the ground, just having released Shen Junyao's ankle, while Shen Junyao's face still bore wet tears; the two's posture looked unusually intimate.

Su Xueyan paused, a flash of surprise in her eyes before regaining composure, her tone now carrying a barely noticeable tension, "You… what are you doing?"

Duan Boyan also saw the scene, his face instantly darkening as he glared at Shen Junyao, his voice severe, "Shen Junyao! Look at the trouble you've caused! Mr. Jiang is a distinguished guest of the Su family, a hero who captured the assassin, and you locked him in the Interrogation Room and even had him massage your foot? Do you have any sense of discipline? Do you respect me as director?"

He had received a report from his subordinates that Team Leader Shen brought back a suspect and locked the Interrogation Room, which he hadn't paid much attention to.

However, Su Xueyan personally brought surveillance footage to the City Defense Office, saying she wanted to bail Mr. Jiang, who had been detained by Shen Junyao.

Shen Junyao, scolded by Duan Boyan, dared not lift her head; the earlier grievance surged again, her eyes red, yet she dared not cry, only whispered in defense, "Director, I… I didn't mean to, I just wanted him to cooperate on the police record…"

"Cooperating on a police record requires handcuffs? Requires locking the Interrogation Room?"

Duan Boyan cut her off, slamming the table in anger, "Look at the trouble you've caused Mr. Jiang! Apologize to him immediately!"

Shen Junyao bit her lip, looked up at Jiang Feng, her voice as small as a mosquito's hum, "Yes… I'm sorry."

Jiang Feng waved his hand, "Never mind, I didn't lose anything. The police record is unnecessary now, so Miss Su and I will go back."

Duan Boyan hurriedly laughed, "Right, right! Mr. Jiang, if you have time, I'll treat you to a meal to make amends! This Time it was truly thanks to you subduing the assassin; otherwise our City Defense Office wouldn't have known how much effort it would take to catch the Night Owl Organization's people!"

"No need for a meal."

Jiang Feng walked to Su Xueyan's side and asked concernedly, "You just woke up; why aren't you resting at home and instead came all the way here?"

Su Xueyan smiled and waved the USB drive in her hand.

"I was worried about you, and the villa's surveillance can prove your innocence; we can't let you be wronged. It's good that everything's fine now; let's go home—grandfather is still waiting for news from us."

"Alright."

Jiang Feng nodded and followed Su Xueyan outward.

Duan Boyan hurriedly followed behind them, saying as they walked, "Mr. Jiang, if anything comes up in the future, feel free to call me! Regarding the Night Owl Organization, our City Defense Office will investigate promptly and will definitely give you and the Su Family an explanation!"

Shen Junyao stood in the Interrogation Room, watching their departing silhouettes, and grew even more angry inside.

She was angry that Jiang Feng made her lose face before the director.

Yet besides anger, watching Jiang Feng and Su Xueyan together now, she felt an indescribable pang of bitterness in her heart.

Jiang Feng and Su Xueyan left the City Defense Office, got into a car and rushed toward the Su Family Villa. Su Xueyan looked at Jiang Feng, hesitated for a moment, then couldn't help asking, "Back in the Interrogation Room, you and Officer Shen… nothing happened, right?"

Jiang Feng was momentarily stunned, then laughed, "What could have happened? She just sprained her foot, and I gave her a quick treatment. So, are you jealous?"

Su Xueyan's cheeks flushed instantly; she turned her head away quickly and whispered, "I didn't… I was only worried about you. By the way… grandfather said the Cold Poison in my body can't be cured for now; what's going on?"
