Chapter 211: Choice Amidst Fierce Battle
Zhang Cheng's roar was like an invisible shockwave, shaking the surrounding trees until their branches and leaves trembled wildly. Blinding golden light erupted from his body, forcing the surrounding black-clad men back several steps. That Mysterious Power surged and roared within him, as though it would break through all restraints.
"What's going on?" The Envoy of the Blood Night Demon Family's expression shifted slightly, clearly not expecting Zhang Cheng to still possess such powerful strength.
"Kill!" But he quickly recovered, shouting sternly while making a hand signal toward the rear.
The Blood Night Demon Family reinforcements that had long been lying in ambush around the area received the signal and surged forward like a tide, completely surrounding Zhang Cheng and his companions. Each of them bore a ferocious expression, wielding sharp blades and exuding an icy killing intent.
The battle instantly entered a white-hot stage.
Empowered by the Mysterious Power, Zhang Cheng seemed possessed by a war god, erupting with astonishing strength. His figure moved like lightning, every fist and every kick carrying heaven-destroying, earth-shattering power, sending the approaching black-clad men flying again and again.
However, two fists could not match four hands, and even a hero could not withstand superior numbers. The enemies were simply too many, and each one was fearless in the face of death, attacking him wave after wave. Though Zhang Cheng fought valiantly, he was not a god after all; his stamina and strength were rapidly depleting, and his movements gradually slowed down.
"Brother Zhang Cheng, I'll help you!" Seeing this, Xiao Dian ignored his own injuries, brandished his longsword, and charged into the enemy ranks to fight alongside Zhang Cheng.
Mo Yi followed closely behind, his golden eyes gleaming with resolve, his longsword transforming into streaks of golden lightning that slew the approaching enemies one by one.
"Damn it, how could this be?" Seeing this, the Envoy of the Blood Night Demon Family's expression grew even uglier. He never expected that his meticulously planned encirclement would be blocked by these few humans and a demon clan youth.
"Kill them! Leave no one alive!" he roared, a trace of ruthlessness flashing through his eyes.
Just then, a clear voice suddenly rang out from afar: "Stop, you villains!"
Everyone looked toward the sound, only to see a young woman wearing a green dress with transparent wings on her back flying toward them from the distance. She had silver-white hair, delicate features as beautiful and captivating as an Elf's, and a pair of emerald-green eyes full of spirit.
"You are..."
Before the Envoy of the Blood Night Demon Family could finish speaking, the young woman had already flown before everyone. She coldly swept her gaze over the black-clad men, gave a cold snort, and said...
"You running dogs of the Blood Night Demon Family, retreat at once!" The young woman's voice was like an orchid in a secluded valley, clear and melodious, yet carrying an unquestionable authority.
The Envoy of the Blood Night Demon Family was momentarily stunned, then sneered: "Who are you, to dare interfere in the affairs of our Blood Night Demon Family?"
"Who I am is not important. What matters is that you won't be harming them again today!" As the young woman spoke, she gently waved the staff in her hand, and a dazzling beam of green light instantly shot from the tip of the staff, blasting several black-clad men at the forefront into the air.
"Such powerful strength!" Everyone who saw this was startled in their hearts.
"Elf Clan?" Zhang Cheng looked at the transparent wings on the young woman's back, and a thought stirred in his mind.
"Thank you for your assistance, miss!" The Long Xing Sage cupped his hands in thanks to the young woman.
The young woman nodded slightly, turned to look at Zhang Cheng, a trace of curiosity flashing through her eyes, but quickly averted her gaze and waved her staff once more, repelling several black-clad men who attempted to ambush Zhang Cheng.
"Damn it, there are reinforcements!" The Envoy of the Blood Night Demon Family's face turned ashen. He never expected that his meticulously planned encirclement would encounter so many obstacles.
"Kill them! Leave no one alive!" He roared and once again ordered an attack.
Receiving the command, the black-clad men fought as though injected with stimulants, attacking Zhang Cheng and his companions even more frantically.
Zhang Cheng, Xiao Dian, and Mo Yi stood back to back, forming a triangular defensive formation, resisting attacks from different directions.
Xiao Dian and Mo Yi coordinated seamlessly—one wielding a longsword, the other using sharp claws—covering each other and repelling the approaching enemies one by one.
However, the enemies were simply too many, and the two of them gradually began to struggle.
"We can't keep going like this, we'll be worn down to death!" Xiao Dian said loudly while brandishing his longsword.
"We have to find a way to break through!" Mo Yi also realized the severity of the problem.
The Long Xing Sage had been observing the battlefield situation all along. His eyes suddenly lit up, and he pointed to the northwest of the encirclement, saying: "There! The enemy's strength is weaker there. We break through from there!"
"Good!" Zhang Cheng and the others looked in the direction the Long Xing Sage was pointing and indeed found that the number of enemies there was relatively fewer.
"Follow me and charge!" Zhang Cheng roared, taking the lead and charging toward the northwest.
Xiao Dian, Mo Yi, and the Long Xing Sage followed closely behind. The three of them combined their strength and forcibly tore an opening in the enemy's encirclement.
"Chase them! Don't let them get away!" Seeing this, the Envoy of the Blood Night Demon Family grew anxious and immediately led his subordinates in pursuit.
Just as both sides were locked in fierce combat, a figure silently appeared at the edge of the battlefield. She wore a purple dress, her silver hair cascading down like a waterfall, her delicate features as beautiful and captivating as an Elf's. A pair of purple eyes gazed curiously at the battle before her, the corners of her lips curving into an amused smile as she murmured to herself: "Interesting, truly interesting..."
The mysterious Elf's appearance was like a greater storm whipped up on an already magnificent sea. Everyone simultaneously slowed their movements, their gazes turning in unison toward this uninvited guest who had appeared so suddenly.
"Who is she?" Xiao Dian couldn't help but ask in a low voice, yet his hand gripping the longsword did not relax in the slightest.
"I don't know, but she is definitely no ordinary person." The Long Xing Sage's brow was tightly furrowed, his gaze fixed on the mysterious Elf. He could sense that this Elf radiated a powerful energy—even more powerful than the Envoy of the Blood Night Demon Family.
"What does she want?" Mo Yi also watched the Elf warily, his heart filled with doubt.
Only Zhang Cheng, after a brief moment of surprise, felt a sudden, inexplicable sense of familiarity well up within him. The feeling was faint, very weak, yet impossible to ignore. He couldn't shake the feeling that he had seen this Elf somewhere before, or rather, had encountered a similar existence.
The mysterious Elf seemed utterly indifferent to the surrounding gazes. Her eyes remained fixed on Zhang Cheng—or more precisely, on the position of Zhang Cheng's chest. There, a faint energy fluctuation pulsed, so weak that it was nearly imperceptible, yet it could not escape her senses.
"Interesting, truly interesting..." she murmured to herself, her tone brimming with curiosity and inquisitiveness.
Saying so, she actually began walking toward Zhang Cheng.
"Stop her!" Seeing this, the Envoy of the Blood Night Demon Family's expression changed drastically, and he shouted sternly.
Several black-clad men immediately rushed forward, attempting to prevent the mysterious Elf from approaching. However, their attacks were like a gentle breeze against the mysterious Elf's face, having no effect whatsoever.
She merely flicked her sleeve, and an invisible force instantly sent several black-clad men tumbling through the air, crashing heavily onto the ground and coughing blood, clearly severely injured.
"So powerful!" Everyone who saw this was startled in their hearts.
The mysterious Elf paid no attention to those black-clad men. Her gaze never left Zhang Cheng, as if something on him deeply attracted her.
She approached step by step. With every step she took, the surrounding air seemed to solidify a fraction more, and an invisible pressure weighed on everyone's hearts, making it hard to breathe.
Finally, she stood before Zhang Cheng, less than a meter away from him. She tilted her head slightly, her burning gaze fixed on Zhang Cheng's chest, and slowly extended her hand, as if to touch something.
"What are you trying to do?" Zhang Cheng instinctively took a step back and asked in a deep voice.
The mysterious Elf did not answer. Her hand continued to reach forward, her fingertips nearly brushing Zhang Cheng's clothes. Just then, she suddenly stopped, her brow furrowing slightly, as if she had sensed something.
"Not good!" she said in a low voice, then abruptly raised her head and looked toward the distance.
Zhang Cheng and the others also followed her gaze. In the distant sky, a black rift had suddenly appeared, emanating a heart-palpitating energy fluctuation...
