Chapter 110: Gate
Aoding gazed at the giant wolf before him, its sharp teeth just as they had been before, making people tremble with fear.
Aoding rode his own horse into the air, looking at the person and wolf before him; it was obvious he already knew his fate would be so.
He still mounted his eight-legged horse, spear in hand, sunlight glinting on his golden armor, shining in the sky, then he fiercely hurled the Eternal Spear at Fenrir!
The Eternal Spear trailed a blue light across the sky, leaving a long tail, then a boom sounded and the ground produced a huge mushroom cloud.
Aoding waited quietly for the smoke to dissipate, the Eternal Spear returned to his hand, the smoke gradually cleared, and he saw that the two fellows before him had suffered no substantial harm, only some scratches.
"Howl!" Fenrir howled again; this time the earth began to tremble, and then everyone heard the sound of the tide slowly approaching from afar...
Yet the dwarves did not come out in joy at Aoding's return; they repeatedly kowtowed, watching their god hurl the Eternal Spear, hoping the god king would bring them blessings once more.
Feng Yan had completely run out of strength, yet the king was delighted, looking at the Red-clothed Devil behind him, he completely ignored the remaining giant wolf and shouted: "Red-clothed Devil, kill him!"
"Spare me, Your Majesty the King; your country, your soldiers, your people merely survive for money. As for me, I pursue more than just money—after all, once it reaches a certain amount, it's just a number." The Red-clothed Devil looked scornfully at the king before him and then said.
"How could that be?" the king couldn't believe the Red-clothed Devil's words, stepped back two paces, then replied.
"Now, do you understand?" Feng Yan sneered, then leaned on his sword hilt and slowly walked toward the king's face, his chest flashing with red light.
"Now, do you understand? Your so-called money can't buy anyone." Chen Hao looked at Feng Yan's state, and finally couldn't help but go over to support him.
"My chest feels a bit uncomfortable." Feng Yan said weakly, but he himself still gritted his teeth, refusing to fall; he slowly broke free from Chen Hao's support, looked ahead, smiled, and continued: "Look, those two have come as well."
Chen Hao turned back and saw two girls running toward Feng Yan here.
Chen Hao smiled and then asked Feng Yan: "Is this also something you guessed?"
Feng Yan was now very weak, his chest flashing with red light; just then, Aoding, holding the Eternal Spear, charged straight at the Red-clothed Devil!
"Tyr, let's have a final showdown once more!" Aoding shouted while riding his eight-legged horse, lightning crackling along the shaft of the Eternal Spear. At this moment, the dwarves prayed devoutly, hoping their god king would lead them to victory.
But this time, as Aoding lunged at Tyr, the giant wolf opened its maw and swallowed Aoding whole into its belly.
"Hahaha! Dwarves, god king, it's just as before—truly laughable!" The Red-clothed Devil, who had initially felt some panic seeing Aoding charge at him, now felt invincible after the wolf swallowed Aoding.
"Howl!" The giant wolf howled toward the sky again; all that could be heard was the water lapping against the gates of Beneficial State, the flood having reached the gates.
"No time!" Chen Hao shouted, then snatched Feng Yan's Black Sword and rushed straight toward the Red-clothed Devil.
"Don't move!" All that could be heard was Yang Xin aiming his crossbow at Feng Yan: "Throw away the sword in your hand, or your teammate's game is over!"
Chen Hao looked back at Feng Yan; Feng Yan had completely fainted on the ground, unconscious.
Meanwhile, Wang You and Lin Xiyan were rushing toward Feng Yan!
"Then the game is over! Goodbye, my friend!" Yang Xin looked at Feng Yan's state, seemed to have made a great decision, and finally pulled the trigger.
Whoosh! An arrow shot straight toward Feng Yan!
"Is it all over now?" This was Wang Tingwan's question; she couldn't bear to watch any longer and closed her eyes.
However, everything was not so over.
Clang!
With the sound of metal clashing, Wang Tingwan opened her eyes.
All she saw was the Eternal Spear planted in the ground, slowly turning into blue smoke and vanishing.
Yang Xin widened his eyes, unable to believe what lay before him!
The Eternal Spear blocked the arrow; as the arrow snapped in two, changes began to occur in the sky!
The sky began to darken; first emerged a group of women wearing white Western-style long dresses, dancing toward the eight directions, like blossoming flowers, finally settling in their respective positions.
"How~ beautiful!" The king became lost in the dance of these blond‑blue‑eyed women before him, seemingly entertaining a wicked thought, he shouted at the Red-clothed Devil: "Seize them! They shall all enter my harem!"
The Red-clothed Devil pursed his lips, looking at him with disdain; when he finally tried to refuse, he glanced at those women and thought it wasn't bad either.
He glanced at the giant wolf beneath him, knowing that the two of them had a deal.
He leaned close to Fenrir's ear and said: "Kill those women, let them feel your might!"
"Howl!" Fenrir seemed to have received affirmation; he let out a long howl toward the sky, and then, as the earth shook violently, the tide surged inland at a speed visible to the naked eye!
"Brave warriors, you have tasted death; I will receive you into the Hall of Heroes, waiting for this moment to arrive. Now is the time to display your courage!" The women previously all emitted a blinding white light; once the light faded, they appeared on the battlefield clad in silver armor, valiant and spirited.
The sky plunged into darkness for a moment…
With a creak, the sound of doors opening, only to see countless golden gates suddenly appear in the sky!
The time of the gods' death!
It shall be the day we appear,
We await to serve the god king,
awaiting the return of dusk.
All warriors emerging from the gate sang together as they appeared, facing Fenrir head‑on.
The women again hurled their weapons straight into the sky.
The gates that appeared in the sky gleamed with golden light, hurting the eyes; after the light faded, a group of silver‑armored men emerged, leaping upward to catch the spears the women had thrown.
All the men were tall; they again hurled their spears skyward, and all that could be heard was the sky cracking once more!
Only a second cracking sound was heard from the sky, and then the sky resembled a shattered mirror!
Fragments rained down from the sky again, and at that moment the tide had already surged to their front!
The women danced again, then a gale swept in from the horizon, lifting the tide into the air! The wind bore the tide aloft, carried its direction away, and returned it to its original riverbed.
The local residents found it strange; they had clearly seen the river vanish overnight a few days earlier, yet today the wind had blown it back into the sky.
Of course, though the residents felt odd, they were still happy; after all, their water had returned.
"What! How could this be!" the Red-clothed Devil shouted, gritting his teeth; his teeth clicked as he glared ferociously at those women.
"Impossible, I won't lose! I definitely won't!" the Red-clothed Devil went mad, then dismounted from Fenrir.
The Red-clothed Devil stroked Fenrir's huge fangs and said: "You may eat now!"
No sooner had the words left his mouth than Fenrir opened its massive maw, covering half the sky in an instant.
Yet the people of Beneficial State had no idea what was happening; they stared blankly at the giant wolf's gaping maw.
"Crack!"
Only heard the sound of bones being bitten off coming from Fenrir's mouth!
Fenrir slowly chewed the delicacy in his mouth, and then did not spit out the bones.
"You! You..." the king was so frightened he couldn't speak for a moment, merely pointing at the Red-clothed Devil and collapsing to the ground.
"Your Majesty, I never truly owed you allegiance. Or do you think those trinkets in your hand are something we gods would deign to look upon?" the Red-clothed Devil looked at the king with amusement, savoring his expression.
"The people are also a kind of wealth." the Red-clothed Devil chuckled, took out a black potion from his clothing, and poured it onto the ground.
"What are you going to do?" the king shouted, then he saw black smoke slowly rising from the ground, gradually reaching the Red-clothed Devil's hand.
"Nothing much, just using some of your so-called wealth." the Red-clothed Devil snorted, then the black smoke in his hand was pinched apart and slowly dissipated in the air.
"Ah, it hurts, feels like my chest has been burned by fire." Feng Yan opened his eyes, rubbed his chest, lying on the ground.
Lin Xiyan and Wang You looked at Feng Yan with worried faces.
"Envious, Feng Yan, look at how good your treatment really is!" Chen Hao watched Feng Yan wake up, the stone in his heart fell, and he joked with Feng Yan.
"Don't tease me, the game still has to continue, right?" Feng Yan struggled to get up, raised his head to look at Yang Xin.
He held a crossbow, aimed at Feng Yan, but this time he didn't fire.
Feng Yan felt strange; he looked at Yang Xin, Yang Xin also glared at him, their eyes met, yet Feng Yan showed a contemptuous smile.
Feng Yan laughed and said, "As it turns out, you also consider these things?"
Yang Xin heard Feng Yan's teasing, yet still did not move.
Because Wang Tingwan watched him, shaking her head silently.
Feng Yan clearly understood that his body couldn't hold out much longer; it should be due to the oath made earlier under the Eternal Spear.
He touched his scorching body, and for a moment the temperature actually cooled down?
What's going on? Feng Yan wondered, he raised his head, looked at the door in the sky, and understood something.
And looking at the shattered sky, he spoke: "Heaven, opened."
