Chapter 111: Crisis

~9 min read 1,664 words

The sky shattered again, as doors appeared one after another in the sky, warriors slowly opened the doors and emerged, Feng Yan touched his body, his chest no longer hurt.

He felt strange, and the two girls behind him glanced at him again.

"It's fine, I'm fine." Feng Yan chuckled, then patted his clothes, looked around, and also had a new question. Earlier his body felt like it was being burned, but now? Why?

This is Feng Yan's problem; he watched the sky shatter again, many large doors opened in the sky, beautiful white-skinned women danced. Before those women appeared many men wearing silver helmets and armor.

Feng Yan looked at the sky, then touched his chest; his chest no longer hurt. He smiled, glanced at the giant wolf, knowing deep down this matter couldn't possibly end like that.

The Red-clothed Devil saw what Feng Yan was thinking and said: "Feng Yan, now it's my turn to give you the right to choose, and their lives also depend on your choice."

"Just you?" Feng Yan retorted, casting a glance of contempt at the Red-clothed Devil.

"Yes, just me!" the Red-clothed Devil replied, meanwhile looking around, he took out a potion he had never taken out before from his bosom and dropped it on the ground.

"Take a good look, this is the moment this nation perishes!" the Red-clothed Devil shouted.

"What... " Feng Yan hadn't finished speaking when the ground suddenly shook violently!

Feng Yan barely steadied himself, then shouted toward Chen Hao and the others: "How are you? Are you alright?"

"We're fine!" Chen Hao shouted toward Feng Yan.

"Well then, this is our showdown!" Feng Yan drew the Black Sword from his back and walked toward the Red-clothed Devil and the giant wolf.

The wind blew over Feng Yan's body, his hair swaying unpredictably. Feng Yan's eyes fixed firmly ahead, he slowly stepped step by step toward the Red-clothed Devil.

"Who is that young man from a few years ago?" a heroic spirit in the sky, looking at Feng Yan holding the Black Sword, asked the woman behind him.

"The God King said he is the savior who will rescue the dwarves," the white-clad woman answered the man's question.

"A savior?" All the men in the sky fell silent; they were elite warriors under Odin's hand, yet why would the God King choose such a youth? In both age and mind he is still an immature child.

"A king is always a king; we can never fathom a king's thoughts," said a warrior.

"Yes, but what ability does this boy actually have, that the king values him so highly?" another warrior replied, also looking over there; the women's eyes showed doubt, while the men regarded the boy's back with a scrutinizing gaze, watching him step by step approach the giant wolf.

"Ridiculous, stop him!" the Red-clothed Devil smirked and shouted.

Just as the Red-clothed Devil's voice fell, a thick purple mist suddenly appeared, from which terrifying howls echoed repeatedly, and black figures emerged from the mist, lunging at Feng Yan!

"Pathetic, ridiculous, yet also pitiable—what are you doing all this for? Is it merely revenge against the God King? Then this is a laughable answer. For I and he have only a mere transaction!" Watching souls hurl themselves at him one after another, Feng Yan felt a bit panicked, yet could only put on a shocked expression; thus he spoke those words to bolster himself, while also mocking the Red-clothed Devil.

"Good! Kill him, kill him!" The king acted madly, shouting frenziedly, hands pointing to the sky, his voice trembling; he had already grown greatly fearful of Feng Yan.

But those souls hurled themselves at Feng Yan, then instantly turned into mist and slowly dissipated; Feng Yan wore black robes, the blade of his Black Sword flashed a faint red light, looking extremely dangerous, brimming with power!

"How? Is that all your power?" Feng Yan laughed, stopping before the Red-clothed Devil, gazing at the giant wolf before him, then remarked: "Even if it's a game, such a big fellow is actually quite interesting, really quite interesting."

Chen Hao, Lin Xiyan, and Wang You looked at Feng Yan's appearance, feeling some worry, yet seeing his earlier demeanor they also believed he was fine. Their feelings coincidentally aligned this time; Chen Hao worried about the mark on Feng Yan's chest, but now he also knew there was nothing to be done, for this level cannot be passed; awaiting is the game's end, which logically should be joyous, yet after the game ends, where would he be? This is Chen Hao's problem, and also theirs.

The dwarves finally witnessed part of the prophecy with their own eyes; Odin fell again, the Eternal Spear hit the ground, but this time without the God King's child, the War God Tyr was also annihilated by the Red-clothed Devil, becoming an evil entity; Fenrir reappeared in the world, yet his strength is no longer as formidable as before.

Gazing at Fenrir's bloody night of sharp teeth, Feng Yan felt a bit nauseous; he did not launch an attack immediately, but stopped before Fenrir, always keeping a distance.

"What is he trying to do?" a warrior in the sky asked.

"Observation." another warrior replied.

"Why not attack directly? The God King will protect him!" that soldier shouted, his voice agitated.

"He's made a move!" another soldier yelled.

The sky's heroic spirits watched Feng Yan grip the Black Sword in his right hand and launch an assault straight at the giant wolf; they excitedly watched Feng Yan charge at Fenrir, but saw Feng Yan, upon reaching Fenrir's front, dive straight beneath its belly.

"Tch!" the Red-clothed Devil made a sound, then felt immensely pleased. He mocked Feng Yan: "As it turns out, all adventurers are merely empty reputations, a bunch of good-for-nothings!"

"Good-for-nothings?" Feng Yan, beneath the giant wolf's body, saw something indescribable; only saw Feng Yan leak out a wicked smile, then gripping the Black Sword, step by step, that dad walked past, and then he said: "This isn't me being ruthless; I can only say that thing is getting in the way."

"Crack!" a clear sound rang out; as that thing was chopped off, it seemed the giant wolf's thigh bone could be seen.

"Howl!" the giant wolf winced in pain, couldn't help but howl, then suddenly rose up, transforming into a huge werewolf form, directly blocking the sun.

"Good!" Chen Hao couldn't help shouting, while Lin Xiyan had already covered her eyes, her cheeks flushed.

Chen Hao turned back to look at Lin Xiyan's appearance, then looked at Feng Yan; his hand still held the Black Sword dripping blood, only hearing Chen Hao softly say: "Next time, you ought to pay attention—this isn't very friendly to girls."

"What is this called, confiscating what again?" Feng Yan looked at the giant wolf before him and shouted loudly at Chen Hao.

The giant wolf's painful howl made Feng Yan happy; seeing its state, Feng Yan felt relieved yet also pitiful. Feng Yan heard his own voice coming from behind him; he hadn't finished his previous words, yet he shouted out.

"Confiscate...... be careful!" Chen Hao hadn't finished speaking when he saw the giant wolf's claw swipe straight at Feng Yan!

Feng Yan jerked his head up, only to see the giant wolf's claw lunging directly at his forehead; startled, Feng Yan jerked back, breaking out in a cold sweat. Seeing its attack dodged, the wolf grew even more ferocious, opening its maw.

Everything plunged into darkness; only the Red-clothed Devil's laughter was heard, then he said triumphantly: "Feng Yan, what will you do now? Fenrir, now, swallow him!"

"Howl!" the giant wolf's roar shook the ears; Feng Yan lost his direction in the darkness, not knowing what to do for a moment.

In the darkness, the giant wolf's white, sharp teeth slowly approached; Feng Yan stood still, waiting for fate, or rather, facing fate.

In the black great sword's middle flashed a faint red light; Feng Yan hesitated not, drew his sword.

"I think this is probably the true ending." Feng Yan said calmly; in just a few minutes he recalled many things. Those beautiful, romantic 'disappointing yet intensely longed-for lives'—could they still be found? This is Feng Yan's question; carrying this question, he gripped the sword with both hands and struck down fiercely!

"Crack!" only the sound of breaking was heard; the giant wolf's tooth was snapped, and Feng Yan also jumped down at that moment!

"How are we? Can we do it now?" the Eagle Helmet-wearing heroic spirits watched Feng Yan jump down from the giant wolf's teeth, ready to act.

"Let's act!" the heroic spirits all pleaded; the women knew persuasion was impossible, so they merely nodded, letting them go. All the doors in the sky opened; they faced the giant wolf, marching toward death without fear—that was their pride.

The sky darkened; their Eagle Helmets glowed faintly; the dwarves knelt on the ground, some raising their heads to watch what unfolded. They expected the heroic spirits to bring victory with the God King's will, but things turned out otherwise.

That was merely a one-sided crush; even the mighty heroic spirits could not oppose the giant wolf, despite their great numbers slowly arriving at its feet, yet in reality they were merely instant-killed.

Feng Yan panted, watching the heroic spirits gradually being wiped out, feeling a bit afraid, he gripped his sword tightly.

"Good! Just like that......" the king shouted, but before he finished speaking, the giant wolf gulped him down whole.

"Your Majesty the King, your worth has reached its end; then I shall grant you a full corpse." the Red-clothed Devil laughed, then turned to look at the still-panting Feng Yan and asked: "Well then, how should I deal with you?"

The two girls looked at Feng Yan with worry; and Feng Yan at this moment also realized he had reached the most perilous juncture!
