Chapter 128: Reunion
"You say, am I right, Lord Wu Wang?" Feng Yan retorted to the person before him, his words full of sarcasm.
"What you say is, that's the truth!" Consequently, to Feng Yan's surprise, the person before him not only didn't get angry but directly echoed Feng Yan's words, making Feng Yan feel displeased.
Feng Yan wanted to cause trouble so he could demolish this rundown academy; the boy who had died on his back last time now seemed to have returned to his back, staring fixedly at the person before him.
Feng Yan couldn't help wondering: if the souls of those dead children returned here with their resentment unresolved, would this dog-like person before him be torn to pieces?
Thinking of this, Feng Yan shuddered.
"You guys, aren't you afraid? Aren't you afraid the parents of these children will come cause you trouble?" Feng Yan asked tentatively.
"Trouble?" Upon hearing this, Wu Wang burst out laughing, his eyes narrowing into slits, then he asked Feng Yan: "Do you know who sent these children here?"
"Who?" Feng Yan pressed, though he already knew the answer, he still asked aloud.
Upon hearing Feng Yan's probing question, Wu Wang's expression instantly turned haughty, and he proudly said: "It's their parents! Their parents sent them here, where we remold them, then send them back to their parents. Look how well we've remolded these children! Their parents thank us, thank us for giving them new children, and half of those who leave go to the palace to become officials—doesn't their monthly stipend count as much? We've altered the children's souls; tell me, shouldn't we be called Soul Reforgers?"
Feng Yan frowned, hearing Wu Wang's words, feeling his lungs about to explode and his teeth grinding.
The children hearing his words began to tremble, and secretly looking at his face, they felt he was the demon in their hearts.
After Feng Yan forcibly steadied his spirit, he then asked him: "So, do you consider yourself a Soul Forger?"
"Of course!" Wu Wang answered without thinking.
Along with that came Wu Wang's sense of pride; this answer from his mouth left the world's adventurers feeling helpless, what a proud thing this is!
But all that was heard was a slap sound on his face.
Feng Yan raised his left arm and gave Wu Wang a hard slap!
Wu Wang covered his left cheek with his left hand, stared at Feng Yan in disbelief, then shouted: "You! You dare hit me? Do you know who I am……"
Slap!
Another slap landed on Wu Wang's right cheek; at this moment his face began to swell, and while he had his hands over his face trying to speak, Feng Yan kicked him in the stomach.
Wu Wang collapsed to the ground, face ashen, looking at Feng Yan in terror; just as he tried to call for help, he felt a cold sword pressed against his neck.
"I advise you to be honest; watch us tear this place down, or else your people will come collect your corpse!" Feng Yan's voice was low, like a demon whispering in his ear.
At that moment, everyone watched the people in the courtyard watching their master being beaten, yet no one dared step forward.
Everyone was secretly calculating, thinking that after their master's death their own power could grow greater.
Moreover, more importantly, their master had given no order, yet they themselves were already afraid of that black long sword.
Wu Wang felt Death breathing cold air on his neck beside him; his face, swollen from Feng Yan's slap, began to turn purple.
"That color suits you well; uh, where we come from there's a word for 'bottom' and another for 'boys' love,' but they're all **flowers—are you planning to open an eye in front or in back?" Feng Yan spoke again, lightly touching Wu Wang's body with the tip of his long sword, stopping at the man's most vital spot.
Wu Wang's heart jolted, he broke out in a cold sweat, and then the thought of begging for mercy arose in his mind.
"Please, spare me!" Wu Wang could no longer bear it and began to beg for mercy.
"Hmm, not bad, you can still beg!" Upon hearing Wu Wang's plea, Feng Yan did not withdraw his long sword, merely crouched on the ground and stared straight at him.
Then, looking at Wu Wang's timid gaze, he said contemptuously: "Just you, still talking about reshaping souls? I think you're just making some lackeys, some slaves living in your shadow—guess what I'm thinking now?"
"These people—do they still have any humanity? Or are you depriving them of their humanity, committing evil!" Feng Yan shouted into Wu Wang's ear, making his scalp go numb.
"Then, I'll send you on your way." Having said that, Feng Yan raised his long sword; just as it was about to fall, he saw a familiar face.
Feng Yan lowered his long sword, staring straight at the person before him; he felt that the sensation from that person carried a hint of familiarity and tenderness, yet also coldness and rejection.
Unfortunately, he could never recall the name of the person before him.
"Feng Yan~"
That person called out his name in a soft, tender female voice.
Feng Yan turned his head; the person before him was a very familiar face. They locked eyes without speaking, simply gazing at each other; Feng Yan wished time would stop at this moment, for his heart once again felt an emotion he had never felt before.
That was Wang Tingwan; her watery eyes looked at Feng Yan, her heart overflowing with joy, yet seeing Feng Yan's bewildered gaze, she seemed to realize something: this person before her was both familiar and unfamiliar—familiar enough to know his nickname, yet unfamiliar enough that neither dared speak a word.
They reunited in this manner, with Yang Xin following behind, his eyes bloodshot, angrily glaring at Feng Yan as if he wanted to kill the person before him!
Yet both of their hearts simultaneously felt a sense of loss; did they miss their past friendship? No, Yang Xin missed Feng Yan's former foolish demeanor—just a few kind words could make him lay bare his heart for you, and he regarded you as his best friend, a sworn brother.
And the guy before them who has lost his memory—could he be fooled again?
This was Yang Xin's true thought; he stepped forward to stand before Feng Yan, glanced at the children behind him, gave a practiced greeting, then said to Feng Yan: "Hey, old friend, long time no see, how have you been lately?"
Feng Yan looked at the pale face before him, a surge of anger flared in his heart, about to erupt, when he heard the children behind him shouting.
"Ah!"
The children's shrill screams made Feng Yan snap his head back, at the same time seeing Wu Wang seize a child, holding a dagger to the child's throat.
"Kindness is sometimes a great weakness of humans!" Wu Wang said triumphantly, at the same time giving Feng Yan a confident look.
"What do you want?" Feng Yan tried to stay calm as he asked Wu Wang.
"Drop your weapons!" Wu Wang shouted.
Feng Yan hesitated not, directly drew the sword on his back, flung it far away, and it rang with a clang.
"Big brother……" the children softly called out, thinking this was the end, next someone would take big brother away and lock him in a little dark room, and then….
The children dared not think further; they could only close their eyes, hoping this moment would come slower, and slower still.
"Hahahaha!" Wu Wang burst out laughing, then a glint of malice flashed in his eyes as he continued: "Adventurers, the strongest on this continent? Just this, and you're done? Pah! You're nothing special—come on, take them away from me, then carry out purification!"
As the servants began to move, the children suddenly sprang up, surrounding Feng Yan, and one child with a tender voice said to him: "Big brother, this time it's our turn to protect you!"
The children's eyes were fixed forward, they puffed out their chests, seeming to be an impregnable bronze wall!
But after all, children are children—how could they match adults? The adults shoved them aside and came up to Feng Yan.
The children lay on the ground, already pinned down by the adults; they glanced at Feng Yan with the corners of their eyes and finally shouted: "Big brother, run!"
Yet Feng Yan still remained motionless.
The adults stepped closer to Feng Yan one step at a time, while Yang Xin watched Feng Yan fall into desperation and put on a smile.
"Is this what they call an adventurer?" Wu Wang sneered, then gestured for his underlings to speed up.
Feng Yan looked at the people around him, then saw Wu Wang's mocking smile, and he too laughed.
"Hey, you can still laugh? First beat them half-dead then speak!" Wu Wang again ordered the crowd to say.
Ya! The crowd let out a roar, then raised their fists high and smashed them toward Feng Yan's face.
And at this moment, all the children closed their eyes.
Take care! Big brother! This is the voice people silently shout in their hearts.
Buzz~, the child felt something lightly fly out, then a beam of light was emitted.
Then only heard miserable cries ringing out, the adults all fell to the ground, writhing in pain.
And Feng Yan, the black sword in his hand emitted a cold icy light, then Feng Yan pointed the sword at Wu Wang and coldly said: "I'll cripple your hand!"
"What's going on?" Wu Wang completely didn't understand the situation, only seeing his subordinates rolling on the ground, red blood staining the grass.
Then there were severed hands all over the ground, and his subordinates were desperately trying to stop the bleeding.
"What exactly have you done?" Wu Wang's body kept trembling, his voice shaking as he asked Feng Yan.
