Chapter 52: Is it 110? I'm a human trafficker
In the vast fog, only Ma Tian was there.
Fear and dread surged into his heart, and the occasional voice calling his name eroded his fragile nerves.
Ma Tian couldn't help suspecting that the white bones he had seen earlier were hidden in the fog, imitating human voices to lure him into a trap.
He looked around nervously, his eyes bloodshot, the more he thought, the more likely this seemed.
"Ma Tian! Ma Tian! Ma Tian!"
That voice suddenly became sharp and urgent, as if it had noticed he discovered something, continually shouting his name.
The high-pitched tone was twisted beyond recognition, like a soul‑stealing ghost, seeming to be everywhere.
It grew clearer and closer, as if right beside his ear!
It foretold the imminent arrival of the White Bone.
Just imagining that scene was enough to cause fear.
Ma Tian widened his eyes, clearly seeing the red blood vessels inside.
He clutched his head over his ears and hysterically shouted, "Stop shouting! Stop shouting! I'm not afraid of you!"
Yet the demonic sound penetrated his ears, like a bone‑eating maggot, never to be shaken off.
……
Meanwhile, on the other side, Yang Cheng warily scanned his surroundings, likewise having become separated from the others.
Although the eerie white bones had not caught up, he dared not let his guard down, pulling a dagger from his bosom for self‑defense.
Though he appeared calm, his mental threshold had reached a breaking point; the slightest disturbance could cause him to collapse completely.
From his facial expression one could see the signs—twitching mouth and eyes—foretelling that his mental defenses would not hold much longer.
Yang Cheng couldn't help swallowing, striving to calm himself.
"Being alone is still too dangerous; the urgent task is to find Ma Tian and Liu Siming as soon as possible, though I don't know how they're faring."
As Yang Cheng pondered, a black object suddenly came into view; his heart sank and he instinctively gripped his dagger tighter.
He approached cautiously, and what came into view was a head.
Yang Cheng couldn't help exhaling in relief, as long as it wasn't the White Bone.
Upon seeing that the crouched humanoid figure on the ground was actually Ma Tian, Yang Cheng overjoyedly exclaimed, "Ma Tian, what are you doing here?"
But Ma Tian seemed not to hear, crouched on the ground muttering incessantly.
Yang Cheng listened closely and faintly heard the words "White Bone" and "don't come near."
He grew suspicious, tapped Ma Tian's shoulder, and asked, "Ma Tian, what's wrong with you?"
Who would have thought the Ma Tian on the ground would react so violently—his body shuddered, he jerked his head up, looked at him with utter terror, veins bulging on his forehead, his eyes nearly popping out.
"Don't come over!"
"Get lost!"
Ma Tian waved his hand forcefully to block him, the strength so great it turned Yang Cheng's hand red; his expression was as if he'd seen a ghost, leaving Yang Cheng bewildered.
"What's wrong with you? I'm Yang Cheng."
Ma Tian's eyes were bloodshot, appearing to have lost his mind: "You're not Yang Cheng! You're a White Bone spirit! Don't think wearing a human skin fools me!"
He emitted a harsh, grating laugh, matching his twisted, ferocious expression, like a beast gone mad, countless cyan veins bulging.
Yang Cheng instinctively stepped back half a pace.
Taking advantage of his momentary lapse, Ma Tian turned and fled into the mist.
"Ma Tian!"
Yang Cheng shouted anxiously, hesitated a moment, then gave chase.
In the fog, Ma Tian's figure vanished completely; in the blink of an eye it seemed as if the whole person had been swallowed by the mist.
"Strange, where did he run off to?"
Yang Cheng puzzled over it, recalling Ma Tian's earlier state, feeling somewhat uneasy.
Just as he was searching, he heard a familiar, grating sound.
"Crack—crack"
Yang Cheng froze on the spot, feeling a creepy sensation, an indescribable fear surging in his chest, making his hands and feet icy cold.
He followed the sound and looked; the scene that met his eyes would be unforgettable for life.
Blue clothing and black pants—Ma Tian's attire, not bad.
But what supported the clothes was not flesh and blood, but a skeleton!
The White Bone emitted a pallid light, its eye sockets black holes, seeming to have noticed the prey, exuding a chilling cold.
Yang Cheng gaped like a fish forced ashore, gasping heavily, his chest rising and falling violently.
That skeleton, clad in Ma Tian's clothes, kept advancing toward him!
The scene before him was truly horrifying; in utter panic, Yang Cheng raised his dagger and swung it fiercely, shouting, "What the hell, I'll fight you to the death!"
……
The other two traffickers' situations were no better.
Liu Siming watched the White Bone's mouth open and close, deathly aura rushing at him; its dark eye sockets and mouth seemed ready to swallow him whole, terrifying him into turning and fleeing.
The White Bone madly pursued from behind.
This scene alone could drive one mad, let alone after all those supernatural events; Liu Siming's mind had already become fragile.
He took out his phone, not caring much at this point; even if caught by the police, it would be better than becoming the White Bone's meal.
This is surely their retribution; otherwise why would such supernatural things happen to him?
It was already late at night; the on‑duty officer at the town police station couldn't help yawning, about to brew a cup of coffee to perk himself up.
"Ding-ling—"
The urgent ringing suddenly sounded.
He could only put down the cup in his hand, "Hello, this is—"
Before he could finish, the other person's urgent gasping cut him off: "Hey, is this 110? I'm a human trafficker, come arrest me quickly—I encountered a White Bone Spirit on the mountain..."
???
The police's first reaction was that the person on the other end was playing a prank, and their tone gradually grew serious: "Sir, do you know what you're saying? This is Police 749 Bureau, not Flower Fruit Mountain!"
Who has a human trafficker proactively call to turn themselves in, and then claim they met a White Bone Spirit on the mountain? They must have read too much Journey to the West, thinking they're in the 'three strikes against the White Bone Spirit' scenario.
His voice was mixed with sobs; clearly his emotions had reached the brink of collapse, and his speech was incoherent.
"I'm telling the truth, come quickly—my name is Liu Siming. I was arrested before for human trafficking; the public security should have a record. Please hurry and rescue me!"
"Beep beep beep!"
The phone was suddenly hung up, and the police were baffled.
This strange call turned what had been a calm, ordinary night into something unusual.
Better safe than sorry—the police didn't dare be careless, and hurriedly reported the matter upward.
A search of the public security information database indeed turned up Liu Siming, who actually had a prior record for being arrested in a human trafficking case.
Although the information matched, the content of the report was truly outrageous.
A human trafficker proactively filing a report sounds unbelievable.
Whether it's a prank or a false alarm, the police must go check—if they could even rescue a few victims, that would save several families, which counts as a meritorious deed.
If they make the trip for nothing, they'll just have to accept bad luck.
Soon, piercing sirens blared inside the Police 749 Bureau, and all the officers on duty rushed out, planning to conduct a Mountain Search of the mountain through the night.
Release notes:
After receiving the temporary notice, the grades were decent, so I uploaded the new strong chapter, and then I could put it on the shelves.
During this period I've been posting two chapters every day, which was exhausting; finally I can post more.
There's nothing else to say; no need to play the victim. Interested friends will naturally subscribe and read, while those not interested won't bother me even if I play the victim.
I'm not some great expert; I can only gradually accumulate readership.
So, let's get it on the shelves!
On the first day, I'll burst out five chapters as a base!
Then, beyond those five chapters, for every hundred monthly tickets I'll add another chapter—the more the better, as long as I can write it, rest assured!
