Chapter 169: The fight scene with Anne Hathaway doesn't look like acting!
New York, Columbia Pictures studio lot.
Xu Can was listening intently to a radio program.
Anne Hathaway sat across from him drinking coffee, her gaze lingering on Xu Can's face every now and then.
The radio host's tone was slightly over the top.
"Hey everyone, this is Los Santos Music Radio, and today we have a very special guest — Taylor Swift!"
"As you all know, her second album 'Fearless' just won the Grammy for Album of the Year, and today she's bringing us the lead single from her third album!"
"So Taylor, why release a new single so soon? Your creative inspiration is really overflowing!"
Then came that familiar voice of Mei Mei.
"To tell you the truth, I actually want to take a break for a while. Something happened recently, and I just suddenly wrote this song."
"If you're listening to the show, this song is for you."
The host sensed something was off with Mei Mei's state and quickly jumped in.
"Alright, then let's enjoy the second single from Taylor Swift's new album — 'Our Story'!"
Boom-boom, clap-clap—
Boom-boom, clap-clap—
The song opens with a fairly rock-style drumbeat, and when the guitar kicks in it departs from her usual country sound, picking up a lot of pop-punk elements.
Judging from the intro alone it seemed like a very hyped-up song, until Mei Mei's clear yet slightly downcast voice came in.
"I used to imagine that one day, we'd tell the world the story of our love."
"How we met, how two hearts collided and what sparks flew in that instant."
"People would say what a lucky couple those two are…"
"I thought there was a place for me by your side."
"But I searched the whole room and there was no place for me to stay."
……
"It's been pure torment for me."
"I believe you're just as troubled, right?"
"Our story feels like a tragedy."
"In the next chapter, how do we 'five-eight-zero' end it?"
……
With a seemingly rock melody, Mei Mei sang out the torment and helplessness in a girl's heart.
Combined with what she had just said, it was obvious who this song was written for.
The radio host beside her had her eyes wide open, looking like she was ready to feast on gossip.
Could it really be true that Hollywood's most famous golden couple had actually dated? And now they were breaking up?
When the song ended, the station's listenership shot up geometrically, and the host planned to strike while the iron was hot and dig up some explosive material.
"Taylor, is this song based on your own experience?"
"Sort of."
"Then may I ask about the person in the lyrics… did you two break up?"
"I don't know." Mei Mei's voice sounded a little lost.
"Alright, let's go to a commercial break, and we'll be back shortly to continue chatting with Taylor Swift about music…"
Xu Can turned off the radio. It was about time — time to film.
Across from him, Anne Hathaway raised an eyebrow, her big eyes blinking as she looked at Xu Can.
