Chapter 242

Su Chen took a step forward and arrived directly at the side of his own army.

On the training ground, Su Chen's figure slowly descended, hands behind his back, looking indifferently at the soldiers currently training, and let out a loud shout.

"Assemble!"

Immediately after, the army, which had been somewhat scattered, transformed into torrents in just a few seconds, orderly lining up into rows and columns.

Wang Long and the other centurions stood at the front of the ranks with solemn expressions and let out a loud shout.

"First squad, one hundred expected, one hundred present!"

"Second squad, one hundred expected, one hundred present!"

"Third squad, one hundred expected, one hundred present!"

"Tenth squad, one hundred expected, one hundred present!"

Not a single person was absent; this is the human army!

Su Chen looked at all of this with satisfaction.

The thousand-man army was divided into ten squads, each led by a centurion.

The centurions of the first five squads were all Diamond Realm experts, and the latter five squads, while lacking Diamond experts, still possessed peak Platinum strength.

Su Chen looked at the team that belonged to him and spoke indifferently.

"I don't need to introduce myself, do I? If anyone else wants my position as a chiliarch, feel free to come and take it."

"Furthermore, I will not occupy the position of chiliarch for too long."

A look of confidence appeared on Su Chen's face.

"After all, my goal is those legion commanders."

There was a sudden commotion among the soldiers.

Wang Long frowned slightly and let out a loud shout.

"Quiet!"

The thousand-man army quieted down under Wang Long's roar.

Wang Long stepped forward and said seriously.

"We have all witnessed Chiliarch Su's strength, so naturally, we will not disobey the chiliarch's orders."

Su Chen nodded with satisfaction.

Although Wang Long was unruly, he was also an obedient person; of course, the people who could make Wang Long obedient were all experts.

"Are you all curious about why I called you here?"

At this moment, even Wang Long pricked up his ears to listen.

Su Chen stated the mission he had received in the tent earlier.

At first, the one thousand military merits moved many people, but when they heard they had to intercept a beast army, especially one that included ten Diamond Realm beasts,

their expressions couldn't help but change slightly.

Wang Long hesitated for a moment and said.

"Chiliarch, we should follow your orders, but isn't this mission a bit too difficult?"

"Difficult?" Su Chen sneered, looking around. "If it were difficult, would humanity stop guarding its territory? Would the humans in the rear not need protection?"

"You know the origin of the First Fortress; it was spilled with the blood of our human ancestors. Every piece of land you stand on now flows with the blood of our ancestors!"

"Humanity is weak, and the beasts are strong. If it were difficult, humanity would have long ago become food in the mouths of the beasts; how could there be the glory of today!"

"I won't preach too many grand principles; I'll just ask one thing: is there anyone who wants to quit?"

"If you want to quit, you can quit now and roll back to other armies. I don't accept cowards here."

Su Chen let out a loud shout, his voice deafening.

The thousand people were silent, but not a single person quit.

Su Chen nodded.

"Very good!"

Su Chen walked down slowly and said to everyone.

"Come to think of it, our army doesn't seem to have a name yet."

Wang Long smiled.

"The teams led by different chiliarchs all have names. We naturally had one before, but the chiliarch fell, and this designation was abolished."

As he spoke, Wang Long stretched his neck and let out a loud shout.

"Please bestow a name, Chiliarch!"

The thousand-man army behind him also shouted in unison.

"Please bestow a name, Chiliarch!"

"Since that's the case..." Su Chen smiled, "Then let's call it the Beast-Exterminating Army!"

"Beast-Exterminating..."

Everyone pondered the new designation and couldn't help but have their eyes light up.

Su Chen said loudly.

"Beast-Exterminating means exterminating the beasts outside the city. As long as the Beast-Exterminating Army exists, it will fight the endless beasts to the death until... the threat of the beasts no longer exists in the world."

The soldiers were ignited by Su Chen's words and raised the weapons in their hands.

"Beast-Exterminating!"

"Beast-Exterminating!"

The sound was deafening, echoing through the sky.

On the walls of the First Fortress, the figures of the War King and Zhao Kai slowly appeared.

The War King had a smile on his face and said.

"What a Beast-Exterminating Army, what a fight to the death against the beasts."

The War King looked at the Beast-Exterminating Army and couldn't help but nod.

"It has been a long time since such a figure appeared among humanity."

Subsequently, the War King turned his head and asked Zhao Kai.

"What do you think of Su Chen?"

Zhao Kai recalled the arrow Su Chen had just fired and couldn't help but smile.

"Very strong, he is a good seedling. If given more time, the position of ten-thousand-man commander might be his to sit in."

The War King looked at Zhao Kai in surprise and said.

"I remember you never submit to anyone; even the original Little Xuan Yuan Xue didn't make you completely submit."

Zhao Kai shook his head and said.

"That kid has ambition in his heart, and his talent is worthy of it. Although Little Xuan Yuan Xue's talent is powerful, she is ultimately not as ruthless as this kid."

"You don't know that this kid almost made me unable to step down today."

The War King laughed out loud upon hearing this.

"I really didn't misjudge this kid."

Zhao Kai, who was on the side, asked curiously.

"Lord War King, where exactly did you find this kid? Someone with such talent in humanity shouldn't be so unknown in the rear."

Zhao Kai knew very well how terrifying Su Chen's talent was; such a young Diamond expert could not possibly be unknown.

The War King smiled and said.

"Information in the First Fortress is blocked, so it's normal that you don't know some things. Let me put it this way: this kid was this year's top scorer in the college entrance examination!"

Zhao Kai was surprised.
