Chapter 387 - 190: Divine Abilities
Mo Shan was a warrior who had stepped into the True Martial Realm. A power had already awakened within his Dantian—a blood-red arm. A casual slash from his saber carried the world-splitting might of Heaven and Earth Creation, easily breaking through an Iron Wolf Eagle’s defenses and even slicing off one of its black talons. If the talon hadn’t blocked most of the attack, Mo Shan might have killed the beast in a single blow.
Chu Lingguang’s expression was filled with awe.
Mr. Du was one of the Royal Family and Relatives, tasked with guarding Yunchuan City. For Mo Shan and his three companions to have become Mr. Du’s most trusted subordinates, their strength truly couldn’t be underestimated.
However, the four Iron Wolf Eagles also possessed Spiritual Wisdom. Realizing Mo Shan was not to be trifled with, they all dove toward Chu Lingguang and the other three men instead.
Although the forest canopy offered some obstruction, their wings could shear through the treetops, and they even used their sharp talons to rip entire branches out and hurl them at the group.
In an instant, the group’s advance was impeded.
"SCREEE!"
Just then, an Iron Wolf Eagle burst through the canopy, swiping down at Chu Lingguang’s head.
Chu Lingguang was galloping through the woods on Little Red Horse. Suddenly sensing the crisis, he decisively thrust his spear upward.
He activated his Divine Ability: Potential Energy.
Before the spearhead even touched its talons, the Iron Wolf Eagle—which had just burst through the canopy to dive—let out a sharp cry. It flapped its wings furiously, gaining altitude and putting distance between itself and Chu Lingguang.
’Not bad, kid.’
Mo Shan, who had been about to rush to the rescue, found the scene unbelievable. He knew the Iron Wolf Eagle hadn’t pulled away from Chu Lingguang because it was scared of him, nor was it benevolently showing mercy.
It was because Chu Lingguang’s thrust had actually harmed it, forcing it to pull back.
The four men hadn’t expected Chu Lingguang to be capable of holding his own against an adult Iron Wolf Eagle.
"I almost forgot. In the arena, he made a Silver Moon Wolf kneel and beg for mercy," Mo Shuang said, remembering what Mr. Du had told them.
BWAAAAAAH!
Just then, the Turkic Troops charged out from the valley and pursued them toward the forest. Pinned down and constantly harassed by the Iron Wolf Eagles, it was only a matter of time before the troops caught up to them.
"Big Brother, it’s Andre’s men! Batu Mu is leading them personally," Mo Lei warned.
"Batu Mu is just as strong as I am. If we get surrounded by their cavalry formation, we’ll have a hard time breaking out."
Mo Shan’s expression was grim.
"Big Brother, we’ll hold the rear. You take the Spiritual Monkey and get back first," said Mo Zheng.
"Give me the monkey."
Mo Shan held out his hand.
Mo Shuang quickly untied the net pouch at his waist and tossed it to Mo Shan.
"Chu Lingguang!" Mo Shan shouted.
"Senior!" Chu Lingguang had just called back when he saw the net pouch containing the Spiritual Monkey flying toward him.
"Big Brother!"
Mo Zheng and the others cried out, confused.
"Chu Lingguang is the one who found the Spiritual Monkey, so if anyone is taking it back, it’s him. Besides, we brothers are united. We’ve always said we’ll advance and retreat together, no matter what happens. We will never abandon anyone to save our own skins!" Mo Shan declared.
"Big Brother!"
Mo Shuang and the other two were deeply inspired.
"Chu Lingguang, head due south! Once you cross that mountain up ahead, our sentries will provide support. Go!" Mo Shan ordered.
"But... Alright. I’ll make sure to get the Spiritual Monkey back safely."
Chu Lingguang didn’t put on any airs. He knew his strength was far inferior to the four men. If he hadn’t been able to repel the Iron Wolf Eagle himself, Mo Shan probably wouldn’t have entrusted the Spiritual Monkey to him and let him escape alone.
With him taking the Spiritual Monkey and leaving, Mo Shan’s group of four could finally fight Batu Mu’s men without restraint.
"Wait. If—and I’m just saying if—you can’t get away with the Spiritual Monkey, then find the crimson-colored blood vessel in its limbs and suck it dry. Do not let it fall into the hands of the Turkic people. You’ve already consumed the Bone Marrow Cleansing Liquid; it might bring you unexpected benefits," Mo Shan warned.
"Rest assured, Senior. I will deliver the Spiritual Monkey into the hands of Mr. Du, so my master can partake of it as well." Chu Lingguang thought Mo Shan was testing his integrity, and with that, he spurred Little Red Horse toward the great mountain to the south.
"Batu Mu is mine! The rest of you, kill as many of their men as you can!" Mo Shan commanded.
"Understood!"
...
The four men wheeled their horses around and charged toward Batu Mu’s forces.
"Chieftain, the Spiritual Monkey is in the hands of that man up ahead," said a man in his fifties, who had spotted Chu Lingguang from afar. He had a black mole on his chin with a small tuft of white hair growing from it, and he wore two Curved Sabers at his waist.
The chieftain he addressed was none other than Batu Mu.
"You must bring that monkey back. Take all the Iron Wolf Eagles with you," Batu Mu ordered. He rode a single-horned black steed, which seemed to have Demon Beast blood and stood over three meters tall.
"You got it."
The man with the mole immediately skirted the edge of the forest and blew a whistle, directing all four Iron Wolf Eagles to abandon Mo Shan’s group and pursue Chu Lingguang.
"This is bad! All four Iron Wolf Eagles are after Chu Lingguang now!" Mo Lei said, a sense of foreboding washing over him.
"The forest ahead is dense, so the Iron Wolf Eagles won’t be as effective. They can only pin down Chu Lingguang’s position for now. We’ll quickly break their formation and then go reinforce him!" Mo Shan said rapidly.
The four men continued their charge toward Batu Mu’s forces.
’They’re all chasing me now? Isn’t there anywhere left for me to run?’
Chu Lingguang had also noticed the commotion in the sky. He cursed his luck for not having awakened his Primitive Power or having a proper Great Bow on hand. Otherwise, with his skill in Archery, he could have picked off these four Iron Wolf Eagles one by one.
For now, he could only flee into the densest part of the forest, preventing the Iron Wolf Eagles from easily diving at him. But while he managed to fend off their attacks for the moment, the four beasts tracked him relentlessly, finally trapping him at the foot of the southern mountain.
He could see that the woods at the foot of the mountain and further up were sparse. The moment he broke free from the cover of the trees, he would be assaulted by the four Iron Wolf Eagles long before he could make it over the summit.
