Chapter 532
It's just that the Flame Lord had been too overbearing — even two second-tier gods who descended both a holy spirit and an avatar were taken down by him — so those five great gods figured that even if they descended to fight in person, they still couldn't turn the tables, and so they simply surrendered outright, preserving what little strength they still had.
Of course, among the first-tier gods, one's strength is not judged solely by the amount of divine power one possesses.
If a Holy Land, after mastering one rule, chooses not to construct a divine spark but instead continues on to master a second rule, and builds the divine spark from two or more rules, then once that Holy Land ascends to godhood, they will be extraordinarily formidable.
Even if at the moment of first becoming a god, their divine power is very small, they could still take down more than sixty percent of first-tier gods.
It's like a sharpshooter holding a rifle with only one bullet, facing an ordinary archer with a hundred arrows, across a battlefield several kilometers wide — the one with the rifle could obviously take down the other without even needing to say so.
Angst is a rare genius among the elves; a thousand years ago she had already touched her first rule, but the rule she touched was the rule of darkness. A thousand years having passed, with her talent, she has very likely already completed one rule and stands on the second step of the Holy Land.
In fact, if Ophilia had not been wounded, she would probably already be a Holy Land by now.
Hearing Ophilia's words, Rebecca said, "But we have to try, don't we?"
Ophilia's gaze came to rest on the enormous World Tree.
After a long while, she nodded. "I'll first communicate with Romina. Before seeking help from the Flame Lord, I need to make a trip west to find Angst — only if she is willing to accept help can we actually help her."
Rebecca's face shifted slightly. "Your Majesty, that would be far too dangerous. Your wounds have not fully healed — away from the World Tree, you can only barely maintain Legend-level combat power."
Ophilia said, "Rebecca, I've already decided!"
The celebration continued.
This celebration lasted a full three days — a rare grand occasion for the elves.
The last grand occasion was several decades ago, the millennial celebration of the founding of the Loki Elven Empire, which many elves attended.
But never before had there been one with over a million elves in attendance like this.
The elves were all very happy.
Including the elves of Loki Forest.
After their initial shock, they too sincerely rejoiced for their elven kin of the Holy Flame Forest.
This is what elves are like!
Elves are far too few in number; every elf hopes their own kind can live a life free of cares.
Meng Ying stayed in Loki Forest for one day, then boarded a flying ship back to the City of Divine Marks.
Olivia, on the other hand, stayed a full three days.
On the fourth day, Olivia finally found Romina and explained the purpose of her visit.
The reason she sought out Romina was that she was more familiar with Romina.
"Her Majesty the Queen wishes to request my god's aid?"
Hearing Olivia's words, Romina was slightly taken aback.
Because Olivia herself had a god she believed in — the Goddess of Light — who was also a fairly powerful deity, even somewhat stronger than the Moon Goddess the Night Elves had once worshipped.
Yet Olivia was requesting the Flame Lord's help.
Naturally, this left Romina somewhat astonished.
Olivia nodded and said, "Yes, Romina — have you ever heard the name Angst?"
"Angst…"
Romina softly repeated the name once.
She was considerably younger than Olivia.
Romina knew far more of Loki Forest's history than Princess Chenxi did, but in truth even Romina only knew about fifty or sixty percent of it.
There was still a great deal of history she did not know.
Romina said:
"I think I've heard that name before. Right, Your Majesty, I seem to recall you once had a younger sister…"
Olivia nodded and said, "Romina, Angst is my younger sister. However, a thousand years ago she already fell into darkness and became a Fallen Elf!"
Fell into darkness, became a Fallen Elf!
Those words made Romina startle.
There are quite a few kinds of elves.
Fallen Elves are one of them — elves who, seduced by an Abyss demon god, offer their souls to demons, are also Fallen Elves.
The number of such Fallen Elves is not great, but it's rarely just one or two.
In fact, twenty years ago Romina herself had nearly become a Fallen Elf.
Fortunately, she repented in time and held fast to her true heart.
The power-attribute of a Fallen Elf has already been thoroughly corrupted, making it very hard to turn back, but somewhere in their hearts there may still remain a certain measure of light.
And when that last measure of light vanishes entirely, they become Dark Elves.
Corrupted in both power and soul.
If a Fallen Elf might still be able to return to the light, a Dark Elf has no such possibility whatsoever.
Dark Elves are already bona fide creatures of darkness.
Just as succubi are bona fide Abyss demons.
For some reason, after hearing Olivia's words, Romina suddenly recalled that powerful Fallen Elf she had encountered when she was hunting that Legend-level skeletal monster.
That Fallen Elf had given her a sense of being extraordinarily powerful.
Even stronger than she herself had been at Legend level!
Could that Fallen Elf have been Angst?
Thinking this, Romina asked, "Your Majesty, where is your younger sister now?"
Olivia shook her head slightly and said, "I don't know where she is either. I only know she must still be in the Dark Forest — the Dark Forest in the far west."
Romina thought for a moment, then decided to tell of the time she had encountered that Fallen Elf.
"If that's the case, I may actually have met her."
Luo Minna described the scene as it had been.
Then she extended her hand and formed a portrait in the air with magic.
The portrait depicted exactly the fallen elf.
The painting was lifelike, vividly portraying the fallen elf.
"Ah!"
Olivia gasped: "That's her!"
