Chapter 534
Far from the Holy Flame Forest, there was a particularly massive fissure.
The dark substance spewing from this fissure was extremely terrifying.
Even during daylight, the dark substance spewing from this fissure could rise thousands of meters into the sky—its immense size was evident.
And if one listened closely, eerie roars would sometimes emerge from within, followed by chilling laughter and strange, unnatural sounds… as if countless demons and monstrous spirits dwelled inside.
"Finally made it up—this is the Continent of Gods? What an alluring aura."
At the edge of the fissure, a shadow radiating dark energy crawled up and stood there, muttering to itself.
"Swoosh!"
A sharp sound pierced the air as an arrow shot at extreme speed.
The arrow struck the shadow with lightning speed, piercing it clean through.
"Eeeng!"
The shadow, which a moment ago had spoken in a low, middle-aged male voice, now emitted a piercing, infantile cry of agony.
The sound was as chilling as the cries of cats in heat on a spring night.
"Who's there?"
The shadow's voice suddenly returned to normal.
"Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!"
Immediately, more arrows flew at it, pinning it firmly to the ground.
"Eeeng~"
The shadow emitted that eerie, wailing cry again.
"You're all dead!"
It leapt upward violently, tearing itself free from the arrows embedded in its body.
The cost was several arrow wounds through its form—but the black mist swirling around it flowed into those wounds and restored them instantly.
"Bad—this is a legendary dark creature! Notify the Queen!"
A voice rang out through the air.
"You go—we'll hold it down."
Another voice responded.
Immediately, more arrows flew toward it.
"I said—you're all dead!"
The shadow finished speaking, suddenly transforming into a mass of black mist that surged toward those shooting at it.
The arrows struck the mist; though charged with special energy, they only stripped away a tiny fraction of the mist before passing through harmlessly, inflicting no real damage.
"Get out of the way!"
A frantic voice rang out from afar.
The black mist was about to engulf the nearest individual.
"Swoosh!"
Suddenly, an arrow appeared from nowhere, pinning the mist firmly to the ground.
The arrow itself pulsed with dark energy.
Even in its mist form, the creature from the fissure was utterly immobilized by this arrow.
"The Queen has returned!"
"The Queen arrived just in time."
"…."
A wave of relieved murmurs rose around them.
"Clack! Clack! Clack!"
High boots struck the hard stone, producing crisp, echoing steps.
Immediately, a tall elf, enveloped in dark energy, appeared in view.
If Lomina were here, she would recognize her—the same elf Lomina had met before.
Lomina now knew: she was Angest, Olivia's younger sister!
A powerful fallen elf who had reached the Saint Realm!
Angest, in her high boots, stepped up to the mist pinned to the ground, listening to its "eeeng" cries of pain, and frowned.
She pulled out the arrow; the mist, sensing its chance, tried to flee—but Angest stomped down with her boot, crushing the mist into nothingness.
Finally, the "eeeng" cries ceased!
Only then did Angest retrieve the arrow.
She turned around and saw, emerging from the darkness, countless elves armed with bows.
All of them were fallen elves.
And she was their Queen.
As a fallen elf who wielded dark power, she could see clearly within the dark substance.
"How's it been lately? Only this one big one crawled out?"
Angest spoke.
"Only one legendary-level creature, but several curse-level ones have emerged—we've killed them all. They just crawled up and were severely suppressed."
One fallen elf replied.
Angest asked again: "Have those things come back?"
"Yes! Three of our elves were seduced by them, fully fallen into darkness, and became Dark Elves."
Another fallen elf said, somewhat dejected.
"Those bastards!"
Angst snorted lightly, then suddenly leapt into that enormous rift.
No one knew how deep the rift was, and it did not lead to the underground world of the Gods' Continent, but to another place whose horror was no less than the Abyss!
Angst did not use any power to fly at all, but let her body free-fall.
The wind whistled in her ears; after she had fallen an unknown depth, she suddenly nocked an arrow, drew her bow, and fired one shot in a certain direction.
"Whoosh!"
"Clink!"
That arrow was blocked by something.
"Hehe, you're still so hot-tempered. With a power like this, as long as you plunge completely into darkness, you can become a god on the spot—a god even more powerful than those so-called first-tier and second-tier gods in the Heavenly Realm. Little sister, why not consider it? Hehe~~"
A voice that sounded pleasant to the ear, yet carried an indescribable eeriness within it, rang out.
Angst did not speak; with terrifying speed, in less than a thousandth of a second, she once again nocked an arrow and drew her bow.
"Whoosh!"
"Ah!"
This time, the "clink" turned into an "ah!"
"How cruel you are~~~"
That pleasant yet eerie voice, now tinged with a little grievance, rang out.
"If you seduce my people again, even if I have to fight my way into the Dark Abyss Prison, I will exterminate your entire clan!"
Angst's cold voice rang out.
That voice did not ring out again.
Clearly, she had concealed all her aura.
If she made another sound, she feared Angst would truly kill her.
Angst lowered her head; below her, there seemed to be an incomparably enormous gaping maw, with endless darkness surging within it, as if it could swallow her at any moment!
Angst beckoned with her hand, recalled that arrow, and then began to rise.
She flew all the way up and out of the enormous rift, then without stopping, continued flying upward. After flying nearly ten thousand meters like this, finally, sunlight shone down upon her.
The aura of darkness on her body began to be broken down by the sunlight.
"Sunlight is getting more and more annoying."
Angst said.
She had been steeped in darkness for too long; the sunlight's rejection of her was growing greater and greater.
But every day, she still spent no small amount of time coming out to bask in this sunlight that she found so annoying.
